We considered staying in Etosha but the government-run options all seemed to offer $ value for $$$$$ pricing.

Buschberg Guest Farm is close enough and also offers large cabins and excellent breakfasts and dinners. (If you are hungry at night, there is no Plan B anywhere nearby!)

The rooms are extremely quiet (as you are in the countryside), excepting the birds you will hear each morning.

Our only real dislike were the inflexible dining hours. Being used to Spanish dining times, 7 pm is very early for us! But we adapted...

What puts this place "over the top" are its proprietors; Anita and Hannes. From the moment that we arrived, they treated us as family. Not only did they prepare us a nice evening meal but also took interest in our desire to find endemic birds in the area. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

This guest farm is a great place to stay just outside Etosha Anderson gate , but even better than the location ist the warm welcome and frienly atmosphere. And the beautiful garden wit a lovely pool. And the spacious and comfortable bungalows. And the great food we enjoyed for dinner and breakfast. And of course the great opportunity to meet and get to know a bit the hosts (all the best to you!), learn about history and presence of the farm life and its challenges and the animals encountered here. Definetly we would come again to such an enjoyable stay.

We had a chalet that was very spaciuous and clean. All chalets were separated and garden view was nice. Dinner was very good (home cooked) but breakfast was bit disappointing as this was only place in our whole trip that did not include any real warm to eat at breakfast. Anyhow hosts were very friendly and everything worked great. There is also small swimming pool but no AC at rooms.

Booking straightforward. Happy to take cash on arrival. It's 11 km off the main road, which by Namibian standards is practically roadside. It's down an F grade gravel road, ( I don't think there is a G). However on arrival there's a beautiful garden, very welcoming swimming pool and shady poolside area. We camped and even though it was an outside open toilet it was cleaner than any on the NWR campsites. The couple who run it are most friendly and have no end of information to give you. We were told which Etosha waterholes to visit for that time of year and they were all fantastic. He also kept us enthralled by what it was and is like to live in such a remote location. The best bit was their little Jack Russell dog Krugel. He met us on arrival and never left out side or our tent all the time we were there. He barked at and saw off any approaching wildlife including his companion, a German shepherd, the staff and his owners. There are chalets available which all looked neat and tidy. Apparently most of his guests are visiting Etosha and even stay there when the Etosha campsites are full. It took us about 90 minutes from there to the gate but stopping to see some birdlife. It feels remote but if you are looking for tranquility then it's definitely a good choice.

How do you get to know Namibia better, as a traveller? Answer, stay at Buscherg Guest Farm. This is a delightful working farm and if you have the time, ask Hannes to take you on a drive around some of his extensive land.

But it is also only a 50 minute drive to the Anderson gate on almost deserted roads meaning that you can visit Etosha each day whilst staying at the farm and sharing and talking over dinner.

The beds are comfortable and the hospitality warm.

At the end of your stay you will have a better understanding of this wonderful country.

It took us a while to get there, but from the moment we arrived, Hannes and Anita made us feel as if we had come home. After a relaxing cup of tea in the garden, we had a delicious dinner, all together round the table, it was incredibly enjoyable. Best place I stayed at in Namibia!

I spent 1 night here, and it was an enjoyable experiene. The owners, Anita & Hannes are great hosts, and went out of their way to ensure that all of their guests were comfortable. My room was clean and comfortable. I don't believe there's any wifi available, although there was a cell (MTC) signal available. The included dinner was great, although they did charge N$40 extra for drinks (which was not communicated in advance).
I'd certainly consider staying here again.

A beautiful place, with very nice and friendly owners. We enjoyed staying here. The room is clean and big. The swimmingpool and garden are great places to relax. The farm-trip is also very nice. Near Ethosa National Park. We hope to return!

An enriching experience with a REAL Namibian family of farmers. Hannes and Anita are really great, they spend a lot of times with the guests, are really friendly and can answer to all the questions and info you want to know about Namibia, wild animals, Etosha, farms, history.
Rooms are clean and spacious, food is just great(really great!) and there is even the swimming pool. So why choosing a lodge when you can have all this?!
