Treetops offer the experience of waking up in a tree-top hut nestled in the branches of a poplar forest with the Elephanstriver flowing mere meters away. Enjoy the idyllic surroundings on a deck with fire pits right on the river's edge. Please note, map is not correct as it is on a farm.

Travelled on a Daddys Deal. R598.00 for two people for 2 nights during the week. On the same route as the Citrusdal Warm Baths. You drive directly past it and the Tree Tops is at the end of that road. There are 5 units which are quite rustic. We stayed in Batis which is only suitable for 2 people. A nice sized bedroom with double bed and a balcony with table and chairs outside. Equipped with a small bar fridge, tea cups and glasses provided. Toilets and showers are shared, but are clean. Good idea to take doom with for the miggies (and two spiders that was in the room). I unfortunately have a fear of them (lol). There was two canoes that you can use in the river. There are lovely braai areas and a fully equipped kitchen. Mini stove, microwave and all the pots, pans etc that you may require - also a fridge that you may use. Also beautiful wooden deck to sit on. If you would like to go to the hot baths it is not a far drive from there but best to book beforehand. The charge is R100.00 per person for the day. There is also a restaurant at the baths. The place is very clean and peaceful. (There is one big unit that takes more people). No one was there to welcome us which was a bit unusual.

A quiet wooden bangalow in the treetops. Very romatic and enjoyable. The kitchen and braai area is open but the sleeping area is enclosed with glass sliding door. Amenities could be upgraded. Summer is the best time for this venue

My husband and I with our two kids stayed at the Treetops last weekend. The overall setting is very rustic and the nature feeling is very peaceful. Unfortunately our cabin, Maxima, was not cleaned prior to our arrival as it was filled with mice. Our room contained mice droppings and the mice was in our food and kept us up at night making a noise in the roof. I understand with such a rustic setting one cannot always control such elements but to charge R1000 + per night, which you usually pay for a well maintained B&B, is rather over the top. We accidentally over paid them to which they also charged us R20 in bank costs. I mean seriously. Perhaps the place lacks welcoming of guests and that personal touch. We never saw anyone who runs the place which makes it rather cold.

Tranquil wind rushing through the leaves and birds singing all day long, what a splendid spot to unwind after a hectic week! Loved everything about this place. The website does not do this spot any justice. Will definitely come and visit again!

On a recent trip to Citrusdal, we had the good fortune to spend and evening in the tree tops accomodation near Citrusdal. With splendid views of the surrounding countryside and a river very close by, we couldn't wait to check out our surroundings. Unfortunaetly it rained the whole time we were there. In the early hours, we heard a loud crack followed by an almighty thump, not thunder as we expected but a rotten tree giving way in the night. Fortunately it missed our hut and hit te corner of our neighbours hut, scaring the bejesus out of them, But they were fine and moved to a bigger hut early the next morning. As the weather was so bad, we stayed in bed and watched the storm. Definately a place to reconnect with nature.

Kardouw Treetops is simply an amazing place! The peace and quiet, right over the river, hearing the birds sing and frogs croak all while smelling the poplar forest is a sensory sensation! I cant wait to get back :)

After quite a long trek to get there after a 12 hour flight we arrived in what would only be fair to be called paradise. Our party booked the whole venue and the treehouses all linked by a walkway were awesome, comfy beds, the bathroom block had fantastic rustic warm powerful showers and the kitchen block had everything we needed to prepare food. There were canoes supplied in which we and the children ventured up the river. It was a magical weekend , cannot fault it.

What a great weekend we had at Tree Tops Citrusdal! 2 x Nights felt like a week away. If you prefer luxury hotels, this is not the place for you. For nature lovers & campers, this is paradise! There are 5 x cabins of which I would recommend the Maxima cabin as this is the only one which has its own indoor braai on the porch with a kitchen area & dining table. The other cabins do have a sink with tee & coffee facilities, but no private braai area. Our mattress was very comfortable & the cushions are nice & soft. Our duvet & blanket was also very comfy. There are communal bathroom facilities with 3 x showers & 3 x toilets to share. These ablution facilities are clean & spacious & warm water in the showers are no problem. If you do not like to share the braai facilities with strangers, I would recommend to either book the Maxima cabin with the indoor braai or book all 5 x cabins with friends or family. The kitchen area is also shared between the cabins, but each cabin has its own cupboard stocked with all its own cutlery & crockery. Kayaks & tubes are available for the adventures ones & a row up or down the river is definitely recommended. All you need to pack is your own towels, food & drinks & ice. The rest is all provided for. We will definitely be back! Thank you for your very friendly help with our booking Lenka.

Tree Tops (not the farmhouse) has 5 tree houses elevated off the ground with wooden walkways connecting them to each other and the gardens below. We first stayed at Tree Tops around five years ago. It has changed remarkably since then. It still has the rustic charm but under new management one can notice that maintenance is done on a regular basis and things are kept clean. Things like light bulbs are all working and the walkways have been tightened up. A new kitchen addition under the poplar trees makes the world of difference allowing one the opportunity to offload one’s food directly into a large fridge with plenty of additional packing space. The cabins (tree houses) are simple but perfect whether it’s a rainy cold night in winter or a hot summers evening. The beds are comfortable and the linen clean. We always book out the whole place and with four other families you have your own private retreat Kids are accommodated in tents either on your own balcony or all together under the trees On our last visit I arranged, through Lenka, for two masseuses to set up their table under the trees in a private part of the garden. What a great way to start one’s day. The Oliphant’s river runs through the camp it is cool enough to be refreshing in the heat of summer, where outside temperatures can get upwards of 30 deg C yet warm enough to spend hours swimming. The kids are either canoeing or fishing or roasting marshmallows over the campfire in the evening and as long as they are fed occasionally they do their own thing leaving time for the adults to enjoy long lazy afternoons either chilling or enjoying fine SA wines with lunch on an elevated deck over the river. If you are looking for a 5 star camping experience then this is not for you. If you are willing to rough it ever so slightly then this is a place you will enjoy just don’t tell to many other people.
