Absolutely stunning! This was a wonderful experience, surrounded by high ridges, totally secluded, with only the whisper of the wind and the trickle of a water stream running past our "tiny" home. We stayed in the "Malachite Sunbird" cottage and for me and my wife, absolutely ideal. We found the "off the grid and technology (no TV) superbly healing, and after two days totally relaxed and revitalized! The cottage had fresh bedding, neat and cleaned and enough wood was supplied. Can definitely recommend this!

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the Sugarbird cabin. Clean and tidy with everything you need. Lovely scenery with grass right up to the dam. And the eco pool just meters away from the cabin as well. Beautiful sounds of birds and frogs singing at night with great star gazing late evenings. We visited Tierhoek wines. There's not much more to do in the area if you can not hike, but we were happy just to spend our time relaxing by the water. Citrusdal is 30 minutes away, so you need to take everything with. I would have enjoyed a toaster, especially for a longer stay. Friendly and helpful staff! I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends. Thank you for a positive experience.

We stayed at Leopard Valley Eco Retreat in one of the cabins for our wedding anniversary. I had booked a glamping tent and when we got there the weather had turned and it was rainy and freezing. It was absolutely no trouble at all for them to upgrade us to a cabin and get it cleaned and sorted quickly so we could move in. We were so grateful! The staff really went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was special. The cabin was super comfortable and the peace and tranquility of the valley is wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place!

We were in August 2022, and here we are again January 2023. CapeCanary cabin.. .awesome, tranquil, view across the valley.and yes free Wi Fi. The bedding and decor is beautiful...there is a swimming pool, but Cape Canary has a swimming pool/jacuzzi. Thank you Benjamin for every thing.

Terrible experience staying in the sugarbird cabin and left a day early. Key reasons as follows: The hot water ran out very quickly. We are a family of 4 and 1 person had a lukewarm shower and the rest had ice cold showers. This was particularly unpleasant on an evening where the temperature went down to 4 degrees. The linen on the beds was stained and dirty, hadn't been washed. One pillow didn't have a pillowcase. The couch had crumbs on and hadn't been cleaned. The fireplace didn't have a glass screen as it should have, resulting in ash falling out on the area in front of it, and the wooden floor. The light on the cabinet in the lounge wasn't plugged in and there was no plug point for it, I presume it is for decorative purposes only? The fan fell apart when we moved it. The wine opener didn't work - it breaks up the cork and eventually you had to push the cork into the bottle. There were a few small cockroaches running around. There was a hole in the back of the bathroom door. The gas had run out so we couldn't boil any water for tea or coffee.
Big discrepancy between the marketing of this place and reality. Extremely poor on site management. Avoid!

Hands down on of the best holidays of my life. The location is perfect, the views are stunning and the units are amazing.
There is a surprising amount of room for two a house made of two upcycled shipping containers. The kitchen was well stocked, only "missing" item was a pair of scissors. We stayed in Verreaux's Eagle, quiet and stunning views. The firepit and half barrel braai were both lovely. A grid was provided, but it is well weathered so consider bringing your own.
It was too cold to try the outside bath, but the outdoor shower after a run down the valley road was amazing. Don't worry there is an indoor shower as well. The pool was lovely, although I personally didn't brave the water I was told it was perfect.
The WiFi is good, not that you'll want to use it that much. We stayed an extra night which meant I got to test it out for a conference call and it held up perfectly. Luke and Benjamin are very helpful, they came out in the cold and wet to replace the gass when it ran out and taught us how to reset the inverter if it bugs out. The latter is getting replaced soon.
Hiking is self guided make your own path style, which unless you are looking for a trail to run on is perfect. The fire damage to the far side of the valley is recovering well and the low vegetation makes for easy routes.
Ten out of ten would recommend, definitely will be back soon.
