Stayed overnight whilst attending a conference in the area. Chalets are well equipped and comfortable. Bring your own pillow if you are finicky about that sort of thing. Stunning views and great dam in front of the cottages. I swam in the dam and it was awesome. Be warned, this is in the countryside so do expect some visitors in your cottage. We were informed that the big red spider called a Red Roman, is pretty harmless, but can be quite distressing to the faint hearted. Geckos and lizards are harmless as well. Breakfast was good and service was attentive and friendly.

Spent a night at Bydidam en-route to Namibia. Phoned ahead and asked if they could arrange a late dinner for us as well as take-away brunch for the next day. Linda was accommodating with our requests and the friendly service was most welcome. The chalet was neat, clean and has everything one could need. Departed the next morning at 6AM with the best home-made brunch money can buy! The service and extra mile they went for us is commendable. Will surely recommend Bydidam as a prime destination when in Citrusdal.

We took the R303 from Maitjiesfontein and Bydidam was the first accommodation after the rough pass road. It is new, clean and had chalets with 2 rooms and bathrooms. Stafg where very friendly and accommodating with our wish of an extra bed. Nothing to much to assist. The pricing is ver good. It has a pool and a dam. Good size rooms and it has WiFi.

Place is full of spiders. When we complained about it the management stopped us from entering the premises. She was very rude and not helpful at all. They do not fumigate the cottages. Not nice sleeping with things crawling on your pillow!

Here is a top place to stay in the vicinity of Citrusdal. The cottages overlook a man made Dam facing the mountains. This sight is something to see as the sun sets. The place is owned by Linda Van Zyl who is a tremendous host really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. The cottages are very well furnished and are for self catering ,so they have all you need. Very well maintained and very cosy. They have a lovely veranda which overlooks the dam and the mountains and naturally there is a very nice braai area. There is sparkling swimming pool for all to use. It has a lovely with a games room and is very well stocked. There is also a restaurant and an events hall which are used frequently so one must book. It is a delightful place and is my second time there on a trip with friends most enjoyable. It is a pleasure to wake up and see the reflection of the mountains in the dam water. A must if in the area.

Great accommodation equiped with everything you might need.Modern and clean.Spacious.Parking right next to your cottage and a nice braai right in front of your cottage. The patio (with comfortable and stylish wooden furniture) and braai overlooks the dam.So nice to see and hear the geese while eating breakfast on the patio. We mostly just slept there, because we had tours etc scheduled in the surrounding areas and could not visit their restaurant as it was closed during the times we were there, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.We forgot something in our cottage when we left to go back home, but the manager was more than willing to assist. She offered to courier it to us,but we rather turned around,as it was too important to wait for it and she still send someone to assist us at our cottage.Great, friendly service.Trustworthy people. If we ever go to Citrusdal again,we will definitely stay there again.

My wife and i have just spent four nights based at Bydidam and loved it. It's definitely peaceful and tranquil and we unwound wonderfully. The chalets are extremely clean and excellent and provide everything one needs for a stay. Very private too. We loved just sitting and admiring the view across the dam during the early morning peace and at sunset into the evening when the lights come on around the dam - lovely. Our only disappointment with our stay was not being able to swim in the dam, which we'd assumed we'd be able to do when booking. However, we ventured to Clanwilliam dam to get our cooling swims. We didn't try the bar or restaurant but maybe next time. Overall a very pleasant stay - recommended.

If you enjoy scenic surrounds and your own company, this is the place to stay. Comfy with everything you need to totally chill out. Friendly staff who are only too happy to ensure you enjoy yourself. Didn't make use of the restaurant and bar - maybe next time. Took loads of photos and will try and upload a few. IT challenged so it may take some time. I will be back...

This establishment meets all expectations: a scenic setting on the edge of a large dam surrounded by mountain ranges. The unit itself is well-equipped for self-catering and a large private braai area overlooking the dam is available for use. This resort has no shortcomings if you are looking for a rustic setting with all the mod cons. You have full access to wi-fi, aircon and DSTV. The sunsets are pretty impressive too. This is followed by the lights encircling the dam being lit for the night. This peaceful surrounds are definitely worth a visit.
