Detailed Reviews
On 4-6 March, we took a trip to Hebron Guesthouse and Restaurant. From the start, it was a delight. To find a venue which works with Nature to provide a blissfully peaceful atmosphere is a rarety. Hebron is set amongst mostly indigenous plantings. It has a swimming pool frequented by weavers and doves, who bathe in the water of the infinity pool. Bees sip from the pipes of their Japanese water feature. The food is outstanding. They draw fresh vegetables from their own kitchen gardens. Breakfast is accompanied by freshly squeezed juice. The grounds are perfect for gentle relaxing strolls and fresh air, and the mountains provide spectacular views, easily accessible from the loungers at their delightful pool. Our room was simple but charming, and the place is quiet, but friendly. We befriended the resident dogs, and a couple of cats found me. Lastly, the service was tiptop, from their magnificently talented chef through to the rest of staff who were there if needed, while politely unobtrusive. WiFi is available, but not from the bedrooms. For that, use the pool or restaurant area.
We had a wonderful time. we want to return.

This accommodation was perfect for us. Travelling in a hire car we were able to reach this little oasis off the main road without going down a dirt track. The views were spectacular. The bedroom was comfortable & clean. The restaurant was excellent. We had a fabulous evening meal & the breakfast was delicious. If you have time you can also go for hikes from the hotel.

Middle of February we spent 3 nights at the Hebron farm. A beautiful and lovely spot outside Citrusdal at the Cederberg mountains. The owners and their staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent , always freshly cooked and something special, even for breakfast we were spoiled. Our room was nicely decorated and from our terrace we had a perfect view into the mountains. If we have the chance, we will come back and can only highly recommend that spot. Thanks Caro and Steve for the lovely days. Jens and Dorothea

Only at arrival we learned the restaurant of Hebton guesthouse & restaurant was closed. The pool was not clean, it looked repellent rather than inviting. In the Queen's room, the bed was made with extremely plain bedding.
The free wifi never worked not for a minute.
After our complaint, the owner reproached us that we have no idea how hard his life is and that we spoiled Europeans make impossible demands.
We paid 1500 ZAR per night for outdated sanitary facilities, a dirty swimming pool, no restaurant and no wifi. That’s no value for money.
In the end the owner refunded us for 1 night.

Our stay in general was great, the quietness was absolute bliss. The only discomfort we experience was the kitchen set-up. The surface space is too small for convenience of "cooking" and preparing meals for little kids. If the counter could just have a short return over the fridge and stop short of the bedside table, it would make a such huge difference. I refer to the Family Room - nr5. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We spent two nights at Hebron. The self-catering well-appointed room was all that we needed for a good night's sleep and perfect spot to relax after a day out in the car. Spring was in the air with birds tweeting in the many trees, bumble bees buzzing in the flowering wisteria. Super friendly hosts who had good advice on where to venture out to find the last of the Spring flowers as well as the roads to take. The pool looked ever so inviting ...

Delightful old charm terraced rooms. Absolutely fine, just a little 1980’s. Home cooking. Breakfasts are wonderful. Steve, Leanne and team are great. Can imagine the Pool would be lovely in summer. The wall heater in our room and ‘fascinating’ 240v hot water bottle, were much appreciated.

The one-night stay at Hebron was great, from the booking in to the goodbye breakfast. The staff were efficient and courteous. I appreciated the extra effort the owner Caro Oldroyd made at breakfast to connect - even down to considering what type of music I like. You had it spot on, Caro! I enjoyed exploring the garden and pool area where the wisteria and clivias were flowering. Thanks a stack. The only downside was the taste of the tap water in room #4. Guests should be warned about it and fresh water should be provided. But apart from that, I'll be back.

I can’t say enough good things about this lovely guest lodge. We were in a party of 10 for an overnight stay. If you prefer a Holiday Inn type of experience then Hebron is not for you. The style of the lodge is eclectic and beyond anything, friendly, warm and welcoming. Steve our host was amazing, his wealth of local knowledge was a great help to us in planning our onward journey.
The food at this lodge is 5 star. Everyone enjoyed their beautifully presented meals (dinner and breakfast), the food was delicious and portions were generous. The wine list was extensive and they make a really good coffee.
I highly recommend Hebron for a night or more stopover, or at the very least a meal in the restaurant.

Having decided to go see the sun set on 2020 from the beautiful Piekenierskloof in the Cederberg, we could not have wished for more gracious hosts that the Oldroyds at Hebron. The food was absolutely amazing, while the room was rustic but perfectly clean and comfortable. We spent our time around the pool, hiking the nearby hills, and of course drinking Dec 31st sundowners over a picnic specially packed for us by Steve, watching the sun set over Elandsbaai in the far distance. We'll be back!
