Lying 5km from Citrusdal, at the foothills of the Cederberg, Wolfkop is a 450ha reserve featuring privately-appointed cottages and a platter of outdoor activities. There are four cottages, all private and blending neatly into the setting, and all four spilling panoramic views across the Oliphants River valley. Each Cottage has a private, jacuzzi and Fire place, Eco sauna and Jungle Gym for kids. There is a beautiful hiking trail with canoes to hire for swimming or fishing. Bird watching is of the highest quality due to setting of each Mountain Cottage in middle of the Fynbos.Individually decorated in African art and colours, two bedrooms feature in each, accommodating four guests, with extra space in the lounge for two more. The main bedroom features a Queen-size bed, with two single beds in the second bedroom. Comfortable mattress and cotton percale bedding are common to all, as is both an indoor and outdoor hot shower. The kitchen is open-plan and well equipped, including fresh orange juice in season and fresh coffee beans and grinder for the perfect cuppa.Stepping into the lounge area, this boasts high ceilings, deep sofas for that obligatory afternoon siesta, and an open fireplace to accompany a fine glass of plonk in winter. Double doors open to a terrace fitted with hammocks and lantern-lit Jacuzzi, while to to the back there's a dedicated jungle-gym for the kid in you. While us hedonist types at Budget Getaways will be hard pressed to leave the hammock there's a lot to do.

We wanted to get away after Covit lockdown with family - that been my immediate family and brother in law with his girl friend. Harpuis is the house we stayed in which in total sleeps 12 adults on beds. We were only 5 people and the beds were so comfortable, and made up ready for us on arrival. The Jacuzzi was started before we arrived and just amazing to sit in, in the middle of a South African winter (Very cold and Wet). With the fire alight - wood can be ordered on site, we were well away to have an awesome braai with a few bottles of great wine. A extra unexpcted thing was the Pizza oven outside, if you want to bake your own home made pizza's. The house is fully furnised with DSTV, cutlary, crokery, cooking utensils, bedding, towels, fridges, oven, Microwave, coffee, tea - just take all food to cook. A beautiful view of the Citrusdal valley spread out in front of us is supplied for free ! Many activities are also available like horse ridding etc, on their web page.

We highly recommend to spend here a few nights. The pictures are not speaking enough for it. You have the most stunning view (which comes breathtaking in combination with the hot tub, especially to enjoy a great sunset), and you might get extremely delicious oranges (very convenient, as a juicer is part of the equipment). The bedrooms with the en suite bathroom are extremely cosy and the indoor fireplace is rounding your stay off. You won’t miss a thing here!! We will definitely come back!

What a beautiful get-away spot!! Peaceful and quiet surroundings, incredible views, impeccable rooms! The jacuzzi is a must, even in winter. We stayed at Harpuis and were surprised at how spacious the house was. Great for a family get-together! You settle in immediately, ready to grab your glass of vino and take in the view to silence all chaos inside you. My treat was the open shower facing big windows so that you can enjoy the gardens and smell the morning air. We didn't want to leave! Thank you for the R&R we needed so desperately, Wolfkop! We will be back to visit all the other houses too!

We stayed in the Botterboom house. The views are brilliant and the walks in the mountains well worth the slog up the hill. The house was fairly clean and equipped, with more than enough space. The jacuzzi was well used at this time of year.
There were just a few things that bring our rating down to 3. The lighting in the living area was extremely poor, impossible to read at night. It looks like there were more light fittings but they have been removed. The bed side light fittings are mostly broken. The one shower does not appear to be level, the water dams up and then flows out the door to the outside. The jacuzzi air bubble system is not functioning, the thermostat is just lying on the concrete so does not regulate the heat. The coffee beans and french press are nice touches. The notice says not to clean the grinder as it will be cleaned thoroughly by the cleaners, this was not the case as we found it full of ground coffee. The citrus juicer was nice but no two pin plug adapter supplied (also needed for the coffee grinder). Luckily we were only two guests, any more would have been a bit of an issue with seating in the lounge area (two chairs and a bed). There is a limited DSTV package available. We had to call a couple of times to confirm receipt of emails and payments. There is no need to take drinking water as the water is pure mountain water. The provided oranges were well used and plenty were juiced. There are king size beds in each room with very warm duvets. The showers tend to splash quite a bit onto the toilet and basin area. The directions to the hike appear to be contradictory between the info package in the house and the direction signage. It was a bit difficult to find and follow.

For the price we paid, the amenities, lack of service, and state of the accommodation were underwhelming. I think you can get much better value for money elsewhere.

The property is situated in a beautiful area, and the views are magnificent. On the plus side, bathrooms were newly renovated, and bedrooms were nice and spacious. But below is a list of concerns we had:

The one room that has a separate entrance smelt so badly (like a drain or sewer pipe) that the guests were unable to sleep there. Throughout the stay, we regularly got a whiff of the same smell. There is clearly a drain or sewer problem at the property.

For a place that houses eight people, one expects a dishwasher. The laundry is large and is set up for a dishwasher, but there is none. To compound matters, very little dishwashing liquid was provided, so we could not even clean all the dishes. Washing and drying cloths were old and grubby

On the booking confirmation email, the owner offers a number that you can use to request a pin sent for directions. We requested this but received no reply. We had no contact from the owner (checking if we arrived, if everything was okay, when we left, etc.). At most places we stay, we have some form of contact.

The accommodation is for 8 people, yet outside there are only 6 chairs, so the whole time we had to carry outside chairs in and out of the house

Jaccuzi was dirty

lack of basic kitchen ware, e.g., no sharp or small pairing knives, but there are like 6 sets of braai tongs?

no hairdryers. Not a big deal, but for the price you pay, these are the amenities you expect

We go away for weekends regularly, and if we compare the price you charge to other properties, you are massively overcharging for what you get. Very disappointing.

We stayed in Waboom recently, a 4 bedroom home at the top of the mountain. What an incredible stay. The home is perfect with comfy beds, large bedrooms, a huge indoor Braai and fireplace, great cooks kitchen, fireplace lounge and tv lounge, great WiFi, heated jacuzzi and the most immaculate views. We couldn’t stop taking pics. Any requests were attended to promptly and efficiently. The cherry on top was the orange juicer and huge pile of oranges. We had a perfect chill and can’t wait to come back. Thanks Lindsay for looking after us.

A house that can accommodate 6 people advertised for 12. Five bedrooms and only 4 en suite, 2 bedrooms outside the house, which makes it very difficult with kids. You pay full price for the kids, even if they are 4 and 6 years old.
The Jacuzzi does not work, the dishwasher leaks, there is not enough chairs for everyone to sit on. No cupboards or packing or having space in the rooms. No where to put your suitcase, accept on the floor.
Very disappointed, if the upkeep and accommodation is what they say it is, this can be a beautiful setting. The view is stunning.
The splash pool is not a splash pool, very difficult to get in and out.
The staff is very helpful and friendly and try their best.

We stayed in a 4 bedroom house high on the mountain. It was perfect for our winter stay with aircons, electric blankets, indoor fire place, braai and piping hot jacuzzi on the patio. The views are spectacular, and the hike is highly recommended. What an incredible stay. And to top it all the freshly squeezed orange juice each morning was such a treat. Both Lincoln and Lizette looked after us extremely well and we will definitely be back.

Absolutely love it here. The cottages are really nice, with fantastic views and even a hottub. We went for a morning hike, and it really was something special.

The bathroom doors also open up onto nature, so you can watch (if you want) the plants and mountains while you shower.

We celebrated the weekend with friends who stayed in the other cottages, and it was great to have both space, but be close enough to walk to each other.

The fire area and balcony in the main cottage offers such a great space for a group of friends.

We will definitely be goin back:) Highly recommend!

Our recent stay at Wolfkop Nature Reserve proved to be an unforgettable retreat that left us rejuvenated, enchanted, and utterly captivated by the serene beauty of nature. From the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our experience was nothing short of perfection. It's safe to say that we've explored countless guest houses, hotels, and accommodations, but Wolfkop Nature Reserve stands as a class apart.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Wolfkop, the peaceful environment engulfed us from the very start. The tranquility was unlike anything we had encountered before, providing the ideal backdrop for a genuine escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The harmony of nature's sights and sounds created an ambiance that whispered promises of relaxation and solace.

The vistas that greeted us each morning were nothing short of spectacular. Waking up to the sight of rolling hills, pristine rivers, and the majestic mountain ranges was a treat for the senses. Each day seemed to present a new painting, as the sunlight danced upon the tranquil waters and painted the skies with an ever-changing palette of colors. These beautiful views alone would have been reason enough to rate our stay highly, but Wolfkop offered so much more.

Our relaxation getaway was not only perfect but seemed to have been tailor-made to fulfill our desires for tranquility. The seamless experience was a testament to the meticulous planning and thoughtful execution by the administration and management teams. Adequate supplies were readily available, ensuring we lacked nothing during our stay. The attentive and friendly staff were always on hand to provide assistance without intruding on our peaceful seclusion.

Our interactions with the staff further enhanced our stay. Their warm hospitality and genuine care made us feel like cherished guests rather than mere visitors. It's clear that the entire team is dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of the experience is flawless. From the moment we made our reservation to the time we reluctantly left, their efforts were visible in every detail.

A heartfelt thank you is owed not only to the incredible staff who made our stay so memorable but also to the administration and management for orchestrating such a phenomenal experience. We recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication that went into creating an environment that exceeded our expectations.
