#6 of 40 Speciality lodging in Phalaborwa
Antares Bush Camp is a recently refurbished self-catering camp with a maximum of 8 beds in 5 en-suite bedrooms. Each room has an indoor and outside shower. The main entertainment area comprises a large spacious kitchen, and with a dining area that can comfortably seat 10 guests allowing for the hosts to be included at meal times should the guests wish. The open plan arrangement leading into the lounge area with exposed rafters offers you the sense of a very large and spacious building. Leading off the lounge are two decks, one of which is set up for outside dining and the other as a relaxation deck by the small swimming pool both overlook the waterhole where many animals come down for a drink. An underground hide at the waterhole allows guests an opportunity to spend many hours sitting at ground level and enjoying the experience of a herd of elephant just meters from the end of your camera or even a flock of small birds enjoying a drink and a bath. The camp is offered as an elusive unit so you will only be sharing the facilities with your own party which makes it even more appealing in today's troubled times when Covid-19 is at the top of everyone's concerns. Our camp has been sanitised and we have protocols in place to ensure the guests can have complete peace of mind during the stay with us.

I stayed at Antares for a week in mid-April this year and had an amazing time! We saw elephants, waterbuck, giraffe, impalas, warthog, kudu and civet from Umgede Hide, as well as 46 different bird species! The camp is super comfy and I can't wait to come back later this year...

We spent two nights at Antares Bush Camp and from the warm welcome, until the departing goodbye, we really had the most relaxing and enjoyable time. The Umgede Hide was definitely the highlight of our stay. To spent time up close and personal with nature, in all it’s splendour, is definitely something any nature lover should do. I’m not a professional photographer at all, but really enjoyed myself in this one of a kind, underground photography hide, I can just imagine how a professional photographer would enjoy it! We also had the privilege to do a game drive with Ian, owner of Antares, and we were amazed about his knowledge and respect for nature. It was amazing to be guided by a guide, that not only cares about the Big 5, but also is keen to stop and discuss the smaller creatures, birds and trees. Ian and his team has got a lot planned for the future of Antares, keep an eye on his blog and live feeds. Our overall experience at Antares was extremely pleasant and we will definitely return and would recommend it to any true nature lover!

What an incredible privilege to be able to stay here. The hide is built in a way to give you an eye level view with the ground. To be so close to wildlife and to be able to hear the amazing sounds of both the animals and the environment is truly something which creates great memories. Thank you Antares for our beautiful stay.
