Reef Resort is situated along the beautiful, unspoilt beachfront of Praia de Xai Xai. We offer accommodation in spacious beach houses, there are 2 different sizes to choose from: 2 bedroom/4 sleepers and 3 bedroom/6-8 sleepers. All the houses have magnificent views of the ocean, they have their own splash pool and they are serviced daily. There is a generator for back up during power outages (T&C's apply). Accommodation can be booked for self-catering or we can provide meals at our restaurant on the premises. Our restaurant Café Pescador is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and there is a 100-seater venue available for meetings/functions. Activities offered at Reef Resort are deep sea fishing charters, guided quad bike excursions, whale watching (from May to November) and we have an assortment of snorkeling gear available for hire.

My daughter is in the Peace Corps in Mozambique. We went to visit her and traveled to Xai Xai and stayed at the Reef Resort. We felt safe at the resort - it seems to be well guarded. The views were excellant from the balcony!...More

Thank you for making contact with us. The houses are built on a dune/hill and it is quite a steep walk up and down the road to the beach. The beach in front of our resort is not the best swimming beach because of the strong backwash, the closest, best swimming beaches are a 1.8km drive away. There is parking close to these beaches and the walk will be short and on level ground. I hope this info helps, Regard Reef Resort

We do not offer scuba diving (and to my knowledge there is not anyone that does this in Xai Xai). The beaches and the ocean are beautiful but because of the close proximity to the Limpopo river mouth and the tricky reef (for launching boats), I believe that these are the reasons that scuba diving has never taken off here. We have an assortment of snorkeling gear available to rent for a nominal price - there are lovely reefs running parallel to the beach for many kilometers. Activities we offer are deep sea fishing charters as well as whale watching excursions and also guided quad tours. I can give you further info and prices via email.
Each of our house have a mini safe in the main bedroom.
We have limited but free Wifi close to the reception area and also in our restaurant Cafe Pescador.
To my knowledge you can still get a visa from the border, the cost I believe is in the region of 50USD. Portuguese is the official language, we speak English and get by - it would be handy to learn a few phrases before you go, people in the main areas tend to speak better English. As with visiting any foreign country, its best to take certain precautions and I can send you further information (a check list for before you go, travelling and during your stay). We have some information on our website and there is an excellent source of information on the DriveMoz Facebook page which I urge you to join.
Marloth park is approximately 30kms from Komatipoort (Lebombo / Ressano Garcia border post). The distance from the border post to Maputo is about 100kms and then to Xai Xai another 220kms. There is a new ring road which bypasses Maputo, it is not 100% complete yet but it does save time in the traffic which is always very busy in the outskirths of Maputo - there is further info as well as GPS points on the DriveMoz page. With the ring road, the distance is also shorter but I have not personally measured this yet.
We can recommend Needles Lodge in Marloth Park, its a cosy, owner-run lodge with attention to detail. They take their guests on excursions to the Kruger Park and other areas of interest.
I hope this info helps, all the best with your planning!

This is a duplicate request, I have already responded to a direct enquiry about swimming with dolphins. I am not aware of anyone that offers swimming with dolphins in Xai Xai, I believe that there are a few operators that offer and advertise this in Ponto D"ouro which is in the far south close to Kosi Bay border. We offer deep sea fishing and we have an assortment of snorkelling gear for you to snorkel at your own leisure,
