What an amazing place. Road from Tete not in a bad condition. Was met at the dam by one of the skippers and after a short drive by boat we were at the lodge. We were met by Barry and he went out of his way to make sure we are well looked after. Very nice pool and views over the lake. The food was very good and the service was excellent. A very safe place. Fishing was out of this world. Skipper knew exactly where to take us to target our tigers. Fishing was best experience I ever had fishing for tigers. Boats are very comfy and well looked after and the skipper were very professional and helpful. Great place to go for a fishing trip or to just go and relax with friends or family. Rooms are great and after a day fishing and relaxing in pool a very comfy night in bed awaits you. Will definitely be back. Thanks to Barry and his crew for a amazing experience.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to Casindira for the weekend, and what a wonderful surprise it was! The long drive from Tete to get there fades into insignificance, when you are met with a small speed boat to take you to the lodge, which sits high above the lake. All the staff were extremely helpful, especially Barry, the manager. The rooms were basic but comfortable, and the food a very pleasant surprise. There may not be wifi, but sometimes it's great to be disconnected from the outside world. The sundowners in the middle of the lake, with the amazing sunset, was something to remember.

No Mobile network but having low speed wifi connectivity. This gives relax moments to keep yourself from outer world and having time only for yourself. Stayed here for 2 days. Location is best and pool is very neat n clean.

When travelling in Africa to and from your destination nothing can prepare you for the bombastic sometimes rude nature of the people at the border posts and policing officers on the road as well as the poverty you are to encounter. We travelled by air and drove the last 300km from Tete Airport to Casindira Lodge. The manager picked us up and transported us to and fro. The fact that we had a local with us helped a lot in terms of the language barrier and knowledge of the what, where and how. The lodge is really a gem in the heart of the Cahora Basa dam, the rooms are spacious and we had four ladies in our group who have travelled extensively, and not one uttered any sounds of inconvenience at any time. There are two negatives namely three of the rooms hot water capabilities were restrained and coldish showers with low pressure water had to be endured. The other was body odours of the men working the bar and serving food was very blatant and can be attributed to the culture and mannerisms.
It did not take away anything of the food that was served, every meal was a highlight. The boats used was clean and very serviceable with no incidents on the water, all members of our group caught Tiger Fish, experienced and non experienced anglers were all in high spirits after successfully catching tigers, although the trip was planned out of high season for the Tigers. Best bet is to be there in December or the first two weeks of January. Rides to the fishing spots in the morning in September can be wet and bumpy. Hats off the the manager and the staff for ensuring our stay was well catered for and dealing with every event.

Having fished in many locations over the years on Cahora Bassa, I have to say this one beats them all!
In terms of guides, areas to fish, food, standard of accomodation and the absence of locals fishing nets combines to make Casindira the best spot on the lake to catch Tigers!
We traveled no more than 30 mins to reach great spots so maximizing fishing time and saving bundles on fuel too!
I will be back

Great in every way! Lodge is just beautiful, views from swimming pool and bar extraordinary, staff very friendly and diligent. Rooms clean and big, with great views from balconies. Laundry service. Fishing guides know well what to do and how to catch great tigers! Can surely rely on them. Fishing areas is very well known to them. Motor boats fast and comfortable. Also there is crocodile farm nearby; visiting this place can be very interesting experience. Time of feeding crocks is just awesome! Also very safe place with no worries about leaving rods or other private possessions anywhere while stay there. I recommend it in 200%!!! Fishing as well!!!
