"Overpriced", to be fair, could be applied to all accommodation in Tete. There is very little choice, and $70-$100 a night will get you a room that would cost you $15-20 most other places.
The room was small, fixtures and fittings poor but there was hot water and it was clean. The LED from the AC unit bathed the room in a green glare.
Unfortunately I arrived on a night when an incredibly loud Afrikaans karaoke show was happening in the bar, and it was impossible to get far enough away from it.
The owner was very hospitable the next morning, getting up early to make sure I had a cup of tea before leaving, which I really appreciated.
