Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here in Nov 2023 for 3 nights and were very impressed by the public areas and how sweet the staff is. Upon checking in, they thanked me for being a member and stated that breakfast was included due to my status. We were also informed that the next night was their city's portion for rolling blackouts, but to not worry since they have generators. I think the power was maybe out for 20 secs before the generators kicked in so the disruption was almost unnoticeable.
The room was comfortable and quiet. It was a little dim, but that didn't bother us too much.
Breakfast was amazing! I love chicken livers and since arriving on the continent, I have taken advantage of all the chicken liver offerings! But for those who are used to more "western" breakfasts, they have an omelette station, fresh patries, fresh fruit, and cured meats. The hubs really enjoyed having made-to-order omelettes every morning and said the smoked salmon was delicious! I went for the chicken livers and cooked beans because um, when in Rome and it's all so delicious. I think they switched between bacon and sausage in the mornings which were also delicious. Our server would also fill our coffee mugs and water bottles for us so we could explore the city all day.
The hotel is close to the industrial fashion district so you can find some really cool clothes that are up and coming. Ubers are plentiful and arrive within 5 min of ordering one, but we really only waited 3 min max.
I wish we could have tried the restaurants on the ground floor that were towards the entrance but we didn't have time nor the stomach real estate when we would come back to the hotel after exploring all day. There is also an ATM where you can get cash because if you're like me, you locked your passport in the room safe and it's needed for changing currency at the currency bureaus.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and 4y.o.
We were treated to famous double tree cookies at check in and it was wonderful.
The room itself was quite big with a bathtub as well.
There is overnight parking for hotel guests at a rate of 90 ZAR per night. You can drive in and out as many times as you want.
Hotel breakfast spread was limited but food is filling.
Overall a good impression of the hotel and the staff who were helpful and friendly.
As i was a gold member, we had free breakfast for the family which was much appreciated. Although we were not upgraded as the occupancy was high.
Hotel Room: 5 Stars (Big room with twin beds and a bath tub)
Room View: 3 Stars (Limited view of the hotel building)
Service of Staff: 5 Stars (Friendly and helpful)
Lounges/Restaurants: 4 Stars (Limited spread, filling and taste good)
Room Service: NA
Location: 4 Stars (Quiet area, but you have to drive through some places which might not be so comfortable/safe at night.)

We checked in on Sunday, February 16th and stayed for one night just using the hotel as a jump off point before driving north to safari as it is reasonable close to the airport. We had 5 rooms reserved and they were kind enough to make one of them available when we arrived early at 10AM, which was really appreciated. The loft rooms on the 5th floor are very nice and definitely worth the upgrade! They are easily 3-5 times as large as the standard rooms. We had a late night dinner at the bar which was good and overall the staff were kind and accommodating. Would recommend for a short stay near the airport in Cape Town.

The hotel is not in Cape Towns safest area so you better not go outside after dark. Staying inside is not much better either because due to load shedding the hotel turned dark for hours and I had no light nor electricity in my room from 8pm until I fell asleep. Even though I am a Hilton honor silver status and I have free wifi included it did not work and no matter how often I tried to call reception or guest service, etc it took 10 attempts until finally someone picked up. He was not very interested in my problem. Insisted that I might have just used my wifi allowance (I work in IT and the problem was there from the moment I tried to connect). In the end he said someone will come up but nobody ever came. I was absolutely shocked by how they treat their loyal customers. When I mentioned my experience at checkout they gave me a free cookie. Free internet, lights so I can read or do something with my evening is what I wanted. I threw the cookies in the bin.

I'm not sure what the last review, "Honest Review," is talking about. Had a lovely stay, and anyone who thinks that the parking fee of 60 rand per day (less than $4/day) at a major chain hotel in the middle of a large metropolis is a "scam" needs a reality check.
Staff was extremely helpful, and food from restaurant was very good. Breakfast was simple, but had enough options for a good meal and staff was very attentive to provide coffee.
The area was windy, and the wind was loud at night, but the wind was extremely bad the last few weeks with winds in excess of 60 mph. You're going to hear that wind, it was all over the city, and you can't fault the hotel for it. I put in earplugs at night like a normal person who adapts to circumstances and it was fine.
If this person thought the area of the city was "not safe" and a "bad dangerous part of town," they live a very sheltered life. No red flags for me, and I've traveled to more than a hundred countries. There was a trendy coffee shop outside and a bookshop within a few blocks that I had no issues walking to with my family. If it's a super dangerous part of a town, there aren't hipster coffee shops or bookstores.
Wifi was fine, and if it wasn't I'm sure my 14 or 16 year old would have very loudly let me know. Sockets were fine for charging as well.
The hotel is not in the main, touristy part of town, but getting there only required getting the free shuttle to the waterfront. Each time we wanted to take it during business hours, it was immediately available. If not, Uber was about $5.
In short, if you accept that you're not staying in the waterfront area, this hotel was great.

Overall I would say it’s a decent 3 star hotel vs a 4 star hotel as they suggest. As a diamond member we were upgraded to a deluxe room (not sure how other reviews got loft upgrades as Diamond members even though I asked) which was oddly shaped with a small window looking towards Table Mountain. I did request a few room changes but were denied even though the rooms were empty at the time. Breakfast was amazing, the staff were overall friendly and the cookies at the front desk were delicious. WiFi was also great throughout the hotel so definitely a plus.
One small issue, we stayed 3 nights and 1 day our room wasn’t made until we returned around 2pm and requested it to be made. Besides that overall pleasant stay and FYI they have a free shuttle which goes back and forth to the waterfront.

I recently visited SA on vacation. I'm going to give a very honest review about our experience. I must first say, the staff was absolutely amazing. I can't take away from how great and accommodating they all were.
I had 2 rooms reserved until making a decision of which suite I wanted. Several friends were traveling together and we reserved multiple rooms/suites. I sent an email to the hotel informing which room I'd like to cancel. I received a reply informing the request was completed. Hours before my arrival in SA, I decided to check my Hilton Honors account and noticed the suite I selected was not showing in my reservation. I immediately sent an email to the property and was informed they sold the suite I had reserved and it was no longer available. I was extremely disappointed as I had big plans which staying in this particular suite. I will go on record to say the property manager was extremely accommodating after learning what happened.
Here are some details on some specific suites.
Suite 502 (Twin Deluxe) is the suite with partial harbor and city view and the only suite with full kitchen. Great suite however it needs a little work. The sink in the bathroom drains slow, the area rug in the living room needs to be replaced and the drapes need to be cleaned. There was also a daily issue with the keys not working to enter the suite.
Suite 514
The shower does not drain properly, shower door does not close completely and the water will seep outside onto the bathroom floor.
Suite 510
If looking for a nice city yet romantic vibe, this is the suite for you. It's very swanky in comparison to the other suites I visited during my stay. Based on the interior design of this particular room, it is the most aesthetically appealing upon entry.
Most suites have a mountain view which is great but there is a storage facility outside the rooms also. Upgrade to the Twin Deluxe (which can be converted into King bed if preferred) or Prez suite if the storage facility will be a problem for you.
I do appreciate the Covid-19 precautions taking at this property. Overall a good, clean property

This strange hotel is located in an industrial area in a bad dangerous part of town for starts. Don't expect to walk outside it's just not safe. If you have a car you are forced to pay their scam parking garage high prices. Nothing seems to work here and when you bring it to the staff's attention a remedy never seems to happen. Because of the location, it's hard to hire and retain good employees. Spoty slow wifi, electric sockets are so old and used we could not get any of our devices charged. Rooms are dark and half our lights did not work. The area of Wood stock where the hotel is is very windy it's very noisy at night and hard to sleep. Old raggy towels and sheets, dirty old carpets. Not a place I will ever go back to. I was hoping to like this place but it's difficult to. Lamees the front desk manager needs to get out of the hospitality business. Lower management is more concerned about money than a good guest experience.

Unfortunately our time in Cape Town was tainted by the fact that we experienced bed bugs while staying in a room on the Hilton honors floor. Having never seen these bugs before, it was traumatic and had a lasting impact because we also brought them home in our suitcase and it was costly to get rid of them. Otherwise we found the hotel to be good value for money if you plan on renting a car to get around. The front desk staff were also pleasant.

The lobby is nice. I liked that they have safe ATMs available for use. The shuttle bus customer service is excellent. The front desk customer service is pretty good. The issue is that the room was clean on the surface but if you really look at it the shower needs a good cleaning/make over. The tile and grout is dirty and unsightly. In my room the bathroom door had fingerprint smudges on the door above/around the door handle and I personally found this to be gross it felt like a sign that the room does not get a proper cleaning/disinfecting.
The two major issues: 1) I booked a Twin Double Room when I arrived it was just one big bed equivalent to a Queen size in the U.S.A. I went to the front desk about this and they rectified the issue by pulling the bed apart to make 2 small beds. The 2 smaller beds were equivalent to a Single size mattress (NOT a twin size mattress) which is great for children - not adults. Needless to say our stay was very uncomfortable, I wanted to leave but unfortunately other reasonable accommodations in Cape Town were booked.
2) The hotel location is not great. The shuttle service is nice to have but the fact that the surrounding area has no nightlife, entertainment, shopping, or food makes this hotel less than desirable. Also the shuttle service ends around 5 pm so if you miss it you’ll have to Uber. You’ll not want to be at the hotel that early because you’ll be bored to tears.
The hotel food and bar aren’t that great in my opinion.
I’m very familiar with Double Tree, I know it to be a nice hotel so I was looking forward to my stay here. But it was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend this location to others.

Good day, thank you for your message. It has been resolved, yes.
As a gold member, not sure what Diamond member benefits are. Not familiar with adjacent pool you’ve mentioned. We were so busy taking in the sights there wasn’t much time for pool and temps were only mid 70’s. A review states, the WF shuttle is a much appreciated option during the day. After hours a taxi was only about $6.
Yes, it has a swimming pool
