For those who of you who haven't ever stayed at a small, Italian hotel and are from North America, please don't expect the Hilton - this is typical, quaint family-run hotel in a quiet beach resort town. It's super clean, people who work there are friendly and outgoing with their guests, and were helpful when you needed them. The hotel itself is in a great location, with short distances to cover to get to the beach (they have their own), the boardwalk (central to Soverato's nightlife), clubs, cafes and restaurants. My family and I spent minimal time in our rooms (which are air conditioned, have TVs and WiFi) and had no issues with how they were set up.

We spend our Week from 7-14.08.2016 at Hotel Nettuno in Soverato Calabria, Italy. First we were very disappointed cause the Hotel is just functional , it is clean but Furniture they didn't change since "70" . Stuff is very friendly and people there are awesome and relaxed. Breakfast is always the same. The Beach is only 50 meters from Hotel it is very clean, the Sea is beautiful and you will always find nice place there to lie on. Positive is that around the Hotel are many Bars, Restaurants, Discos, Gelaterias & co. so it is full of life there and the tourists are mostly Italians. So if you don't care about the Hotel and you just need a place to sleep then you can choose Hotel Nettuno. Soverato is a great little typical Calabrian City with lovely people and lot of fun opportunity's! We enjoyed that place very much :)

Hotel Nettuno is very easy to find, as there are signs everywhere. It's a pretty basic hotel and quite dated, but it's close to the beach, has it's own private beach which those staying at the hotel can use for free, close to the fairground, close to the night markets (next to the beach) and close to the Sat markets (located behind the hotel). Also - staff are friendly and helpful. Great for a cheap beachside holiday for the family.

Had the opportunity to spend three wonderful days at Hotel Nettuno with my wife and her family, while connecting with our family’s Italian heritage. Firstly, the hotel is perfectly situated adjacent to the Beach Boardwalk, a two minute jaunt and you are there. Also the Hotel has its own private beach area complete with chairs and umbrellas, it is also manned by a lifeguard on site. Makes it perfect for just skipping down to the beach without having to worry about where to sit and securing a place on the beach that was a really nice perk. As for the Hotel, it is well appointed; our room was spacious, clean and with a surprisingly comfortable bed. Big windows that open up completely that allow for a nice breeze to filter through the room. The washroom is your typical European style, a little tight, water pressure leaves something to be desired but functional and very clean. What makes the Hotel Nettuno a great stay is the service. It has the feeling of being at home with extremely attentive staff, with lots of advice and tips. Also the conversation with the staff was not forced or seemed rehearsed but genuine and free flowing. The restaurant serves up fantastic food, traditional southern Italian with a seafood bent of course being right on the seaside. I am usually one not for the Hotel restaurant but this is worth a meal, it also makes things easier when trying to suss out where to eat. What made it even better was the wonderful service by Vincenzo, the gentleman who runs the restaurant. To put it in perspective, we were coming off a cruise and craving a properly cooked plate of pasta and once we tucked into our food, it was eaten with gusto and in complete silence, the sign of a fantastic meal. Thank you Fernando!

So the reviews for this hotel throw me a little. Yes the rooms are clean, yes people are friendly, but there is something lacking here. This really is just a place to rest your head while on vacation, the rooms are nothing special and lack any kind of amenity or luxury. I did not stay in any other hotels in the area, so I am not sure how it would compare. I stayed all over Italy at places that were this price range and slightly higher and this was I guess the simplest of all. Its a good hotel if you are just interested in staying on the beach and not in the room or at the hotel much. I have nothing bad to say, I just do not have much great to say either with the exception of the folks who worked there, they were all lovely and very friendly and helpful. The beach is also not right on the hotel grounds, rather about a block away. It is nice that they have the beach portion of the property. Our room did not have a desirable view, but I'm guessing some on the other side do have a view of the ocean.
