Skeiding is one of those places that you fall in love with for no reason ... maybe it's the absolute peace and tranquillity or the panoramic views of the Langeberg mountains or the bright stars at night or the mouth watering food or the goodness of being close to nature ... that makes you want to come back. Situated on high, open, rolling terrain you experience the feeling of freedom and being kind of alone with no neighbour in sight. Skeiding is a working grain, sheep and ostrich farm … close to the N2 and halfway (250 km) between Cape Town and Knysna. This makes us the ideal stopover. A friendly family farm, an education for city slickers, a place to relax and enjoy panoramic mountain views as the farm is situated on high, open rolling terrain. We, Neels and Anné-Lize are two energetic people who love life …you need to be to run a farm, a young family (Anné and Pieter), three dogs (Klara, Layla and Mila), a cat (Tierkat) and a guesthouse at the same time. Spoil yourself and stay Self-catering, Bed & Breakfast or even better, have dinner. Our sumptuous farm breakfast include : a plate of fruit in season, at least a dozen homemade preserves and jams, freshly baked bread, a cheese platter, cereals, yogurt, eggs and also a choice between ostrich and pork bacon. Enjoy home cooked country cuisine prepared by Anné-Lize and her small team of able and enthusiastic assistants. Neels is the meat “chef” on the open fire, unless farm work calls him away.

The view was amazing. Sone our guide, was knowledgeable and welcoming, making sure that everyone was well taken care of ( as well as being an excellent chef!).
The owner was passionate and gave us great insights into life on the farm. Our morning tour of the farm with Sone and two staff members was fun! We fed the ostriches, and saw zebra, emus, springbok, sheep, pigs, chickens, cows and so much more, followed by a delicious farm breakfast.
Thanks to all!

I have visited Anné-Lize and Neels' farm many, many times during my travels as a tour guide in South Africa. I have stayed in countless hotels, guesthouses and lodges both professionally and privately in South Africa and many other destinations worldwide. I have rarely met such warm hosts, rarely been so surprised to find such a cozy property in the middle of nowhere and practically never before have I eaten so deliciously in such a gem.
A real gem with everything your heart desires.
Thank you Anné-Lize and Neels (and a great new pool as of a few days ago)

We had a wonderful time at Skeiding Guest Farm. Our cottage (Aloe) was big, beautiful and well-equipped. Anné-Lize is a fantastic cook with an artistic eye. Breakfast and dinner were a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Neels is a charming host, and makes a mean braai ostrich steak. Hiking the farm roads is a treat with sweeping views and colorful birds. The ostriches were fun, too. This was such a fun, interesting change from the Garden Route. Highly recommend!

Skeiding Guest Farm is a working ostrich and sheep farm. But with a great kitchen, where delicious food is made for the very extensive breakfast and dinner. In the evening, the meat is prepared on the spot on the braai. The first day I was sick upon arrival and we could not eat in the restaurant. Dinner for my wife was brought to our detached cottage by the staff. Super! Fortunately I was able to join them for dinner the following evenings. The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. Although it is a bit pricey and somewhat commercial in design. This farm is mainly visited by large groups on tour. The houses are fairly clean and spacious, with a large kitchen and 2 small bedrooms. But with a large terrace and an unobstructed view of the beautiful surroundings. I spent many hours there happily on the terrace with fireplace/braai. However, the beds are very narrow and it is a pity that the houses do not require much maintenance. The air conditioning did not work because it was completely clogged with dirt on the outside. Contrary to what is offered, there has apparently been no WiFi in the houses for years, but only in the restaurant. Nothing was done when I reported this. The birds also lived on the ceiling. Who woke you up every morning when it got light. Almost every morning during breakfast, all the dirt was blown into the pool with a noisy leaf blower. The swimming pool was also dirty. We enjoy staying in nature, but a few years ago we stayed (near the Tradouws Pass) at the Moody's Grootvadersbosch Farm. Which is much better. Too bad because with good management this could be a great place.

We can not share the enthusiasm 100%, although it was nice. The staff was accommodating and the breakfast and dinner were fantastic. However, we found the price for dinner quite expensive. The farm tour was also expensive and the cost was only seen on the final bill. The cottages were very nicely located and have a great view but are quite used and not particularly clean. All in all a nice stop, but we would not have missed anything if we had left it out.

A real farm, quite far from the place. Access ( the last few km ) in rainy weather a bit difficult with a normal car, but manage.
Very friendly staff, great dinner and such breakfast. The farm tour offered in the early morning is highly recommended.
Beautiful pool and many weavers build on the tree on the terrace. Our room was in the main house, functional and stylishly furnished for a farm

We felt very comfortable.

A real experience. Characterful rooms with wonderful views. Really attentive and friendly hosts and staff. Food is fabulous including the ostrich dishes. Don’t miss the opportunity to do the farm tour with Neels. He is a font of knowledge and it’s great to see the wildebeest, zebra and springbok as well as (obviously) the ostrich and sheep. Really enjoyed our stay.

We loved our one night stay at the Guest Farm and wished we could have stayed for longer! We booked dinner before arriving and the food was SO good. We did the farm tour in the morning which was so much fun and then breakfast was delicious - so many cheeses. The hosts were wonderful and we loved our cottage. Our room had a book with so many nearby activities - we'll just have to come back sometime to try them! It was a bit chilly and we would have loved to get the fire places going if we had more time there. Seems like a really great place to relax.
