My stay at Cleo made a business trip feel like a mini vacation. Let's start with the staff, from the minute you arrive, they are so excited to have you staying with them that any travel fatigue you may be experiencing quickly fades away.

Moving on to the hotel it self, it's one of the prettiest locations on Lake Kivu and the rooms have been really well done with serene views of the Lake.

I'm no foodie, but the food was great, I kept hearing the question, "What did you order, it looks so good?" I particularly loved my breakfast.

Thank you Cleo team, I really loved my stay, wish it could have been longer.

P.S. If you have any problem, special need or request, ask for the manager Michel, he is a miracle worker.

The location is breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the crystal-clear waters and lush greenery surrounding the lake. The resort's design seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings, creating a serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. And
Dining at Cleolake Kivu is a culinary delight, with a diverse menu featuring both local delicacies and international cuisine. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are simply exquisite.

For sure the property is breathtaking, perched on a hill overlooking the lake with a gorgeous deck. Rooms are spacious. But our experience could have been better. Dinner took FOREVER and the food was mediocre. We were the only guests besides one other group so no reason it should have taken this long. Prix fix was way overpriced 50US and we had to ask for the a la carte menu.
Also the wifi was sporadic - it barely worked. Most vexing of all, the showers all had issues. Our kids' shower exploded and didn't work. our shower barely worked - hot water wasn't hot and the "wand" turned off and didn't work while the rain shower wouldn't stay on.
Too many issues to give this place a high rating - average overall. Nothing compared to the One and Only which is in a league of its own.

The Cleo was an amazing place to visit! It's perched beautifully above lake kivu. My group stopped for an evening visit in the lake and dinner. The lake water was cool and extremely refreshing. Their overall service was amazing. This hospitality was above and beyond. Dinner did take some time, but most sit down restaurants in Rwanda are the same way. It's simply their culture. But this gave my group plenty of time to discuss some thing and enjoy the night. Is I have the opportunity to visit Rwanda again the will definitely be a stay here planned! Thank you Cleo!

I was there for a 2 days business trip and we arrived late at 8PM for a nice 5 course dinner with a fresh tilapia from the lake as the main course.
The wonderful surprise started with night fishermen using lanterns we could see from the terrasse.
In the early morning, the same fishermen came back singing.
This, mixed with birds songs was a pleasant welcoming and the manager at that time, Michel Legrand gave us a tour of the hotel and the villa.
After checking out we took a speedboat to Gisenyi and experienced a rare view of the lake shores during 2 hours.
Unforgettable moments at Cleo.

My friends and I spent a whole weekend @cleo and we couldn't be happier especially that two of our friends had their birthdays the same weekend.

And I want to thank Cleo team for a warm welcome and flexibility everyone had for us which made our stay even more special.

I encourage everyone with plans to take a break soon to really try Cleo not only for the above mentioned but also for the beauty of the hotel and the comfort of the rooms the amazing food the pool/spa and not forgetting the view and the boat ride/kayaking also.

Cleo team, let me stop here for now because the list of all you offer is amazing and full of many options like the gym, barbecue next to lake Kivu etc which I can't wait to come back and try.

Thanks Again,
Samson N

We were a group of four wildlife photographers transiting to Volcanoes National Park to photograph mountain gorillas.

The stop at Cleo’s was most enjoyable. This is an architecturally stunning property. Staff are top notch. The rooms were very comfortable, and the views spectacular. We did not have any of the delays in food service that others noted.

One caveat. If you or members of your party have difficulty negotiating stairs, consider an alternative location. You will need to climb stairs to access rooms, registration, and the restaurant.

Kalisse was an amazing host. From the moment I contacted him, he was attentive, thoughtful and kind. He did everything he could to make my experience amazing. I also had a chance to get to know him personally and he is a poised, professional, intelligent man with amazing vision and dedication to improving his country and sharing it with the world. He did everything he could to address my every need- from booking my reservation when to website didn’t accept me email, to responding late at night to arrange for transportation in the morning, to joining me on a kayaking excursion, to booking a boat ride, to arranging a wonderful deep tissue massage. I felt like a queen while at the hotel- every staff member catered to my every need in a respectful way. The chef was amazing and the food was undoubtedly 5 star! His pairings of flavors were unique and he took great pride in his creations. The masseuse was great and I could hear the birds while getting a massage! Francois, my driver, was shy at first but eventually came out of his shell and was willing to try out his English with me. The only warning is that the road from Kigali is under construction so it is very bumpy and takes awhile to get there! I will definitely come back to this hotel and plan to keep in touch with Kalisse.

Staggeringly beautiful views and a magnificent, spacious bathroom and room with a very comfortable bed. There was an issue with the ‘hot’ water in our bathroom not being warm enough.

The food was wonderful, however the wait was too long. Thank you to the Chefs who went the extra mile for me and made cassava bread and cassava pancakes that were delicious.

The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel is being finished, with a pool for hotel guests (rather than in front of the villa) being built and the spa is being completed.

Beautiful hotel perched on a hill side facing west - perfect for watching sunsets. The room was big and well appointed with a large balcony. What was missing was a coffee machine. The bed was comfortable but we did not appreciate having plastic mattresses cover.
The food was excellent and the service was top notch. However the kitchen was very very slow. An hour and a half of wait for dinner to be served after placing the order is a bit excessive. Lunch was served a bit faster. Still, a place worth staying
