Best hospitable greeting ever, with a personalised tour of the accommodation on arrival ...The living area is huge and the kitchen and facilities are tastefully appointed. The apartment is clean and includes an enclosed balcony with a built in barbeque/ braai area. A hairdryer is provided for fly-away-Cape-Town hair taming. The parking is secure and there is a comprehensive shopping centre within 1km.
Highly recommended for a central location accessible to wine land routes, airport and city centre as well as beach front playgrounds.

Accommodation was arrange as part of our Cape Town tour package with Go Touch Down. Had I known how far it was from the city I would've made adjustments with the tour operator.
Pros:
Very Secure - Security Guard on premises (not sure if its 24/7 though)
Laundry - Great service (Keep in mind they don't collect laundry on the weekends)
Amenities - Self contained, has everything you need.
Spacious - The apartments are perfect for small families, it's very spacious.
House Keeping - Your room gets cleaned everyday unless requested not to. (Room service doesn't include the weekends though)
Cons:
Distance from the CBD - Definitely suitable for anyone who needs some peace and quiet away from the city. However if you prefer morning walks along the beach/with nice views, than this area is far from it.
Tired - The blinds and bathroom area is very worn out. Could use a revamp.
Overall if you're only going to be using the apartment for sleeping then it's definitely value for money.

Our tour by Go Touchdown kept us very busy and we spent very little time in the apartment. It was comfortable, clean, spacious, well equipped (especially the kitchen, which we did not use) and we did not have any of the problems encountered by some previous reviewers. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
It is situated some way from Cape Town, so if you are not with a tour, you would need your own car. There is a large, modern, supermarket about 15 minutes walk away and a charming café in the same plaza (see separate review of Love Cake Café ). There is no restaurant on site.
Some in our group were woken up by street noise, but we faced the street and had no problem at all, and i am usually quite sensitive to noise.
This was an excellent place for us on the tour, but otherwise, there would be nothing to do here, You would have to drive somewhere else. There are some fine restaurants within a few minutes drive and the aforementioned love Cake within walking distance.
Nevertheless, a well run establishment.

My husband and I bought the two week tour offerred by Gotouchdown tours out of Sarasota to South Africa. We were booked into Burgundy Luxury Apartments for 7 days.
Their strongest sales pitch was that we were going to be put up in their very own luxury apartments in Cape Town. What we found when we arrived was the most basic of accommodation in fact it was row housing. The facilities were: one small kiddies pool. We were located outside Cape Town and were completely surround with nothing! The bedrooms were not air conditioned, the front of the row housing was filled with cars and the back had major construction going on as early as 7.00 am every morning. There was not a palm tree or shrub on the property, only cement and ugly grey buildings. There wer no other guests that we saw or meet. They didn't even have Wi Fi
When I e-mailed my concerns to GoTouchDown tours that offered me a new location, but it wasn't air conditioned and according to our driver it was a copy of the place we were in. We asked to be upgraded but were told it would have to be at our expensive.
If the place had not been billed as "luxury" our expectations would not have been so high. We had already spent our first week in their other location Dundkeld and it was quite nice, rustic but acceptable although even there the spa and bar were under construction.
Prices for accommodation in South Africa are very inexpensive so we see no reason for such misleading information. We paid between my husband and myself an obsene amount.

These are more like basic time-shares than luxury apartments. They worked for us because there were only two of us to share two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen was quite fully equipped and the living room was comfy though austere. We were with a tour so we didn't spend much time here except to sleep. If we had come expecting to enjoy a luxury condo, we would have been disappointed. The place has no lobby, just a small room with a check-in desk. If there is a pool or garden area, we didn't see them. There is no elevator but there were people to carry our bags up the stairs. The place is also quite far out of town, so if you want to spend time exploring the city, you might look elsewhere. The advantage of being out of town, though, is that you can avoid the city traffic when you want to explore the surrounding areas. They told us that the place had free wifi but this was a gross exaggeration. The only way I could access it was to stand in one spot in the kitchen and even then the service was sporadic and kept dropping off. So, essentially, I did not have any Internet access for 8 days.

We treasure our reviews as it is the only way in which we can improve our offering and service. I am sorry that the facilities weren't up to standard or expectation. We do have a communal small swimming pool, but as these are apartments, there are no extensive gardens. With regard to the wifi reception in the units - this can be erratic but we do have complimentary wifi hotspots which are in the reception and games room. Since your stay we have drastically improved the Wifi internet access and the entire reception area. If you are ever planning another trip to South Africa - and we really hope you do - then please do not hesitate to contact me directly to ensure that I can do whatever I can to make it an unforgettable stay. This is not a five star hotel, it is a complex of ordinary apartments used by this tour company. It is in the middle of nowhere , but we had a driver who took us out everyday. As cape town is on water restrictions it is a bit odd to supply bubble bath. I would rate it as 2 star, the towels are regular, they supply shampoo and a small soap. The furniture is a bit tired and worn. The wi fi is intermittent.

Dear 128Jude We are not sure when you traveled, but Burgundy Estate is not sold as a Luxury accommodation by Go Touch Down. The SA tourism board has rated this as a 4 star, and we rate this as Superior accommodation in all our itineraries and brochures (yours would have reflected same). Go Touch Down is very aware that the "luxury" is 5 star in North America and SA+European ratings are often different. We have used Burgundy to date because of the location to all the Excursions and we prefer the 2 Bed Condo style apartment vs a Hotel room concept. We will forward the message re your furniture to the Touch Down Group.

The Burgundy Luxury Apartments were very nice but not luxurious. The blinds were warped and failed to darken the bed rooms with limited kitchen facilities. The furniture was adequate but minimally comfortable.
We were disappointed with luxury expectations, but would have been completely satisfied with very nice.

We booked and on arrival we found an apartment allocated near the laundry and the games room. The apartment itself was dark and dungy. Nothing like the advert and unfortunately near a refinery. After a week we would of left sick. NO THANK YOU!!! Cape Town has so much more to offer than this unluxury terrible block of apartments. Without even unpacking our luggage from our vehicle, informing them that it was not humanly possible for ANYONE to holiday near a refinery with smog 24/7.

These apartments are everything that you need; spacious, neat and safe parking. The staff went the extra mile to get a ground floor apartment for my mother who had a knee operation. We also requested an additional heater which were provided. Even though it is so centrally lacoted in Cape Town, it is very quiet; not a lot of traffic. Will definitely recommend.
