#2 of 21 Speciality lodging in Sabie
Travellers' Choice
Sabi Star Chalets is a family run, cozy, informal resort with chalets fully equipped for self catering. Breakfast available at an additional cost. The chalets are built on the banks of a beautiful sparkling mountain stream and are surrounded by lush green gardens and forests. We are situated 3 km to the East of the town of Sabie on the R536. We have chalets that sleep 2, 4, or 6 people. Each chalet has it's own private braai area and we supply free fire wood daily. We are conveniently situated for day trips to all local places of interest - God's Window, Pilgrims Rest, World's View, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Sudwala caves, Kruger National Park, and naturally the waterfall wonderland of the Panorama region. There are many adventure activities offered in close proximity - abseiling, river rafting, quad biking, tubing and Paint Ball.

Every time we come to the Lowveld we say at Sabi Star. It’s always an excellent experience for us. The chalet is sparkling clean and has everything we need to make easy meals as a family. There is always plenty of free firewood to Braai next to the river under the stars. The kids keep themselves busy in the river and gardens, & we always walk to the waterfall and spend some time on the rocks there. The beds are comfy and it’s our favorite thing to lie in bed in the morning overlook the beautiful gardens at Sabi Star with a hot cup of coffee. We can recommend staying at this lovely, homely resort where the owners are at your service and willing to help with anything you need: their personal touch & attention to detail is what makes staying at Sabi Star so special for us. We will be back again, and again and again…

We had a one night stay at Sabi Star, having come from Hoedspruit and on our way to St Lucia. It was ideal for our purpose, being very easy to find and reasonably close to the town. Check in included the Covid protocol and we were given an excellent Mpumalanga map. The rooms in the chalet were small but adequate and well equipped for self-catering. Everything was clean and neat. It was a cold night with frost in the morning, but a heater was provided that we used in the evening. Although we did not use it, the illuminated fire pit area was convenient, well stocked with logs, and with the sound of the nearby river. The Boma and swimming pool were a short walk away across the bridge. There was a water leak in the morning, but the staff found and fixed this before we realised that there was a problem. Sabie is a good spot to enter or leave the Mpumalanga mountainous area. We found it good for shopping and enjoyed the short town centre self-guided walk. If we are in the area again, we will take more time to explore, both at Sabi Star and in the Sabie area

We stayed over at Sabie star to participate in MacMac ultra trail run. The chlaet was comfortable clean and cosy with everything we needed. And could end off with a lovely braai on a fire pit next to the river!

We spent one night in May at Sabie Star chalets on the way back from the Kruger Park. It was beautiful and much to short a stay! The chalet (no 4) was divine, well equipped, spacious and had a view of the river that was spectacular. Glorious mountains around the chalets and plenty to do. The breakfast was great value for money and Logan was extremely helpful. Met 3 of the dogs who gave the place such a homely feel. My only complaint was that when the sun went down the chalet was freezing cold - had stone floors and just one heater, but, I am sure in Spring and Summer, it must be great. I cannot wait to re-visit maybe in Sept/Oct or March/April. Plenty of drives in the area e.g Gods Window and the town of Sabie is very cute. Highly recommended, dress warmly if in Winter and please do stay more than one night!

Thank you so much for your descriptive and lovely review. We appreciate your feedback and have taken note of your comments regarding the stone floors. We are looking at various alternatives to make the chalets warmer. We hope you will visit again - perhaps in the summer months? Regards, Shawne
