We spend a pleasant and quiet weekend at Ligna Lodge. We stayed in one of the two bedrooms suites between the main building and the nice manicured garden giving to the river.
Comfortable room, albeit some minor maintenance should be done. Our main issue is that there were no fridge in the room. Even for a non-self catering accommodation, a fridge is not a luxury nowadays.

Restaurant : breakfast is nice (buffet during weekends: good but nothing out of this world) and very good a la carte during week days. We had dîner there one night and found the meals good. Actually correct but not high level gastronomy.

Helpful and kind staff.

Although a neat Lodge at exactly the right spot, the place is in need of more feet / occupant visiting. The units are well kept however stuffy and muggy. The unit I stayed in is not a true self catering - kitchen missing. The low occupancy causes the catering for dinner and breakfast to have limited choice. The road from Sabie to the Lodge is broken up, bad state of disrepair, I couldn't travel one more day on that.
Next time I will explore more alternatives

Our stay in Ligna was great. The rooms are spacious, neat and beautiful. I would advise the management to invest in bar fridges and air conditioning in the rooms. Nice breakfast at a reasonable price. We enjoyed our stay in Ligna. We definitely go back.

I spent a week staying in one of the log cabins at Ligna Lodge and enjoyed my time there. Spacious grounds with swimming pools. Clean and tended gardens attracting birds to be photographed.

Took a relaxing walk down along the Sabie river which runs at the bottom of the property into the adjacent forests.

Rooms clean and serviced daily, good food, and friendly staff completed the stay.

A good place to use as a base to explore the surrounding Sabie area. Close to numerous waterfalls, and minutes away from the center of town.

We arrived at Ligna Lodge after five in the afternoon. Five of us were booked into three log cabins the first of which was not prepared adequately including a smelly dirt bin which was full of refuse. To cap it all there was no water in the rooms and when we complained, the acting superisor, Johnathan, informed us that he was aware of the situation. We enquired as to why he hadn't told us sooner. After a long harangue, we were resettled in the main complex well after dark. The rooms were definately better and we had water at least. The establishment is in a delightful setting but is sorely in need of maintenance. Little things like light bulbs not working or cupboard doors that have faulty hinges etc. Until these niggling items are fixed it will remain a hastle which annoys guests.

The rooms are very spacious, clean and the staff is friendly.

It would be great if the houses can have mini fridges.

I loved the misty mornings with our house facing the river.

Will Definitely go back again.
