Greg and Family offer guests a warm personal welcome to our lovely, distinctive home, constructed of river stone and local timber, peacefully situated overlooking the stunning natural beauty of the Sabie Gorge. Without exception, the many guests who have stayed with us comment on the uniqueness of our home and that photographs just do not do it justice. From the verandah you can catch a glimpse of the hyrax enjoying the early morning sunshine, watch our resident sunbirds sipping nectar from strelitzia and hibiscus flowers, hear the occasional fish eagle calling and we have even been lucky enough to have a hippo wander by! Or you may like to take a short stroll across open bushveld to sit on the rocks and admire the gorge and river below. The emphasis of our spacious rooms is to offer guests comfort and a place to relax and feel at home. All have a separate private entrance and the majority overlook the lush gardens. Children are welcome, so we have family suites available and we are the only wheel chair friendly guesthouse in Sabie. Sumptuous breakfasts are served either in the dining room or on the verandah overlooking the swimming pool. We offer warm and friendly hospitality.

We stayed 3 nights in the Sabie townhouse and we had a very good experience. We were welcomed by Candy on the secured parking lot. We booked the zebra room so our daughter had a separate “jungle”room to sleep which is a nice setup.
The room was very big, with a big master bedroom and sitting area, separate office space and a big bathroom. We also had a jacuzzi and a cute patio next to the communal patio which is lovely with lots of plants and a bar around a swimming pool. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room as well as complimentary chocolates and a liquor.
Breakfast was good to local standards with freshly made muffins, yoghurt, toast etc and you get a full English breakfast or whatever you choose.
Service was always with a smile and Candy and Dave were very helpful answering questions on whatsapp as well as doing their best to minimize the impact of load shedding.
The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is
- the room has some wear and tear (like front door not easy to close, walls with streaks in some places etc) but still clean.
- the wifi connection is far from great
- after much rain in the area the room felt really damp and stayed damp

Overall you get a lot of value for money and the service was really friendly and the guesthouse (especially the outside) area is cozy.

The town of Sabie is not very inviting but it has enough restaurants and the location of the lodge is pretty good to do the Panorama route as well as to drive to Drakensberg from there.

The whole environment in and around Sabie, Pilgrims rest to Nelspruit, Barberton, to Lydenburg and White river, make lovely travel having such lovely scenery using Sabie as the place of residence. The ambiance at the guest lodge is well managed by Greg, food is great all of which at an affordable rate. We spent two nights at the lodge . What a treat. Look forward to the next one. So much to do.

Sabie Townhouse guest lodge is up there with one of the best places I’ve stayed. The owners was very accommodating, she let us put our bags in the room we were staying in as we were early and wanted to go exploring. She gave us recommendations which didn’t disappoint. The room itself was lovely and the common areas were so quirky and cool. I’d definitely come back and stay for longer on our next visit.

Enjoyed our stay, rooms were spotless and great stuff but the sad part is that we had to witness Mrs Van Wyk who happened to be the bosses mother raise her voice to one of the staff members to point where she called her stupid. That was very sad and seeing her shed a tear was really heartbreaking because those ladies are human too and they are the ones who keep the place going. We shouldn't forget that the law doesn't allow any form o abuse in the workplace. Wouldn't recommend your services to anyone. It must be hard for the staff to go to a workplace where you are treated as nothing.

Response from Irene Bennett, Owner at The Sabie Townhouse Guest Lodge
Responded 27 Apr 2021
Please rest assured that I will be dealing with this matter in the strongest of terms possible. I will not tolerate any abuse of my staff particularly from my own Mother. This is not by any means "the norm" however and I am very distressed to hear this sad information.

Our experience was good. Candi was a lovely hostess who gave great attention to our needs. The room was beautiful, we enjoyed our private hot tub and private patio. However the Wi-Fi was a bit slow and the cleaning services did not do a proper job in cleaning our room.

Very friendly hosts, delicious breakfast. The guesthouse offers a variety of activities, for example pool billiard (for free) or driving small cars on a miniature racetrack (Carrera) the owner Greg has built himself.
And at the end of the day you can drink a tasteful brandy in your room which is provided for every guest.
We really enjoyed every minute of our stay and would have liked to spend more nights.

The location is ideal for anyone doing the panorama route. The staff were very warm, friendly and most welcoming. They even took notes about my wife being vegetarian during a conversation and ensured the lovely breakfast they serve was adequate. They also have a relaxing bar and pool area. Definitely would stay here again if I was in the area.

Great bed and breakfast located in Sabie - excellent for Panoramic route and heading towards the Kruger.

Weather was pretty cold and wet when we visited and the electric blanket in the room was fantastic! We didn’t use the pool due to the weather but it looked nice.

Breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. Would happily stay here again.

Unexpected Hidden Away Gem that really surprises you when you get there. Beautiful Rooms and super caring service. We had the suite and i must say its worth it. You can bring your kids or friends, with your own food to make a BBQ/Braai or whatever you like and dive in the Pool.
