As per the other reviews I agree with most of the comments
Slowish service ? But you are in the middle of nowhere so does that really matter ?)
Not very well trained staff ( also middle of nowhere so does that really matter also)
Rooms we’re comfortable, clean and about three star facilities
Bed was comfortable
Off street parking right outside your door
Dinner was good ( for a rural area in the middle of nowhere readers ….. )
Don’t expect Haute Cuisine but is was cheap and cheerful
Breakfast was included and was good and served promptly and with a smile
Not a bad place for a stopover
Room, breakfast and supper with a bottle of KEV Cabernet for R1500.00
How bad can that be guys 👍👍👍👍

I spent a night at the Mariental Hotel while I was in the region on business. The hotel is well located and close to the center of Mariental town. They offered secure parking within the premises, although, I found it could get very tight when more guests had cars parked inside the yard.
The rooms were clean and, despite being close to the road, did not have any problems with interference from outside noise. The room I was in (8) was in need of a fresh coat of paint, the shower had no soap holders and the sink leaked a little, leaving a small puddle on the bathroom floor.
The dining area was well furnished and spacious. The meal I had was well prepared, tasty and of adequate portions. The kitchen even prepared a packed lunch for me as I was departing early the next morning. The only let down here was the service. The waitresses, although pleasant, took forever to bring me a menu and even longer to bring me my food.
The hotel has a bar, a club and a gambling venue, all of which did not disrupt my sleep.
All in all, the Mariental hotel is a comfortable enough place to lay ones head/for a short stay for the individuals/business people who finds themselves in this region of Namibia.

Location is OK right in the small unattractive town of Mariental.
Room was old and run down, small beds, leaky shower. Electric kettle did not work, nor did replacement. Third one worked!
Restaurant was very slow to deliver marginal food. Breakfast was OK. poor value for money.

My fiance and I stayed at Mariental Hotel for 12 days in April, 2018.

The website advertised a swimming pool, but there was none. That area has been filled in, and there are benches and grass there now.

The advertised free WiFi was spotty at best and unavailable 90% of the time.

Meal Time
Breakfast - I was twice given food that was not what I ordered, and once was served a random plate of food before I had a chance to place an order.
Lunch and Dinner - Service was extremely slow. It generally took 1-2 hours to receive our food after ordering. One evening, we were sitting at a table on the patio, which is where our order was taken. Our dinner plates were served to an empty table inside the dining room, and half an hour went by before we were informed. Our food was cold by the time we knew it was ready.

Laundry
We were charged $800 NAM ($73 US) for laundry service over 10 days, even though their website advertised that laundry is a daily, complimentary service. We were not advised that there would be a charge until we checked out.

Cleaning
Our room was serviced by cleaning staff daily, but not very well.
We were provided with fresh towels only every fourth day, and once the toilet paper spindle was left empty. I asked the housekeeper to give us toilet paper, but she did not. Later that afternoon I asked another staff member for toilet paper. When I returned to my room 6 hours later, I still did not have any, and had to go to the grocery store and buy my own.  We did not receive fresh bed sheets during the entire course of our stay.

On 4 occasions staff unlocked my room and came in without knocking, while I was dressing or in the bathroom. I did not feel that I could be confident of any privacy.

At one point our shower head broke at the threaded part, and it took 4 days for maintenance to replace it. During that time we showered with water from the pipe in the wall.

There were some good aspects. Ingrid, the head chef, went out of her way to make sure that my meals did not violate my food allergies, and checked in with us during our stay to assure our satisfaction. The food was delicious.

Geraldine also was very helpful, and provided rapid service from the bar area. She willingly learned new recipes to accommodate our desires, and always had a cheerful, pleasant manner.

We stayed here last year and we were then welcomed by the husband and wife owners and we had a room in the courtyard. The meals and staff were all fine and we looked forward to staying here this time. We were told that there was only one room left and that was in the main building. The room only had one towel, no soap, very little toilet paper on the roll, a light bulb missing from the one bedside lamp and the shower was blocked for starters... Our supper was tasty but the service very trying. We were the only people eating in the dining room.. The noise at night and in the morning, by presumably other guests was a shocker. Our breakfast was hurried by ourselves, the sausage was cold, the coffee was bitter and when I paid on leaving, the receptionist, who has a small baby with her, had put 3 disposable nappies in the waste paper basket under the counter. The entire stay was plainly unprofessional.

We went to just eat out here. But as we walked in the staff welcomed us. Very friendly and efficient staff. We decided there and than to stay one night longer and booked for the next night. The room were a welcome surprise neatly furnished, big spacious bathroom, TV and WiFi available. This was a great experience and will surely stay here again.

A few weeks before driving to Windhoek I calculated that I will reach Mariental at about 8pm, departing again the next morning at 06h00. I searched the internet for an inexpensive room for the night and liked the Mariental Hotel, thinking it may be just what I want – a traditional, old-style place good enough for the night. I mean, how bad can it be?

When I arrived, I thought “Oh-oh”. The outside looked really run down, as if it had not seen a coat of paint in years. Youths were lounging around the entrance and noticing a Gambling Room entrance I double checked if I had the right address. Upon entering the dingy, dark reception area I was greeted in a friendly manner by the youths and an efficient-looking lady at the reception desk welcomed me warmly. She knew I was coming and directed me around the building into the secure yard, with parking right in front of my room, number 8.

What a pleasant surprise awaited me. The room was clean and tidy, the lounge, bar and dining room areas were tastefully modernized. From the inside no sound could be heard from the Gambling Room and there was no street noise. The staff were super friendly, efficient and made me feel completely at home. Dinner was served quick, in good style and was as good as any at the four-star lodges we usually frequent.

I rate this hotel as a pleasant venue.

We only stayed one night. We had dinner at the restaurant where the service was extremely slow, unprofessional and poorly trained. They did not know the drinks we ordered and we had to whistle to get their attention. We waited an hour and a half for our food to be served and this while we were the only guests. The next morning there were no electricity or warm water. When we complained, we were informed that it was due to solar panels being installed. We were not informed about this when we booked in. We had breakfast where the service was poor again. The manager happened to pass by and we complained again. She offered no apology or remedy to the situation, but rather that we should be out by 10 anyway ( this was 8:15). We will NOT recommend this hotel because we travelled for 23 days through Namibia and this was the worst experience.

When we arrived to Mariental town, we did not have a booking. This was the most available at the time. We incidentally ran into the manager Wilma at a Spar store, who suggested her Mariental hotel. At first glace, we were unsure, yet when we got our room, we were delighted. Reliable Wifi, box TV and really hot water in the shower! Breakfast was fine with all normal sides one enjoys. NOTE: Mariental is a very small town, so we felt lucky to find this comfortable place for a night as we were driving from Walwis Bay to the South Khalihari.
