We recently stayed at this Resort to attend a family wedding.
It was our 1st trip to this area of Mozambique and we were a bit apprehensive about it. Needless to say we had an amazing time albeit too short. We will be back for a longer stay in the near future.
The resort exceeded all our expectations. The villas were awesome - all self-catering with fully equipped kitchens, lounge & dining areas as well as very clean & tastefully decorated bedrooms & bathrooms. Some villas have the most magnificent sea views & others are nestled in the dune forest & all connected by wooden walkways. There is a pool at the Bar/Restaurant area and villas 5 & 6 have their own splash pool.
The management staff, Mauro & Denise, were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food prepared by Denise was some of the tastiest I have eaten anywhere. The rest of the staff were just as accommodating & friendly.
Although the resort is situated between the 2 areas of Ponto & Malongane it really is not a problem as the walk to these areas is a pleasant hour or so on the beach to Ponto & less than that to Malongane. The steps down to the beach may be a bit of an issue for some less energetic folk but so worth the climb up & down.
A beautiful part of the world to visit - as yet pretty much unspoilt!

We stayed in a 2 Bedroom, 2 bathroom (Both with individual showers) villa that was kitted out with a lounge and an amazing view of the ocean from the deck.
It is the perfect stay for a family of 4 or even a group of friends.
The reception is just a walk away from the villas and sells Wifi for any of the clients needs to connect to the outside world without a Mozambique sim card.
The only issue is that the wifi is only accessible from the reception/restaurant area and not from the Villas.
The restaurant which is next to reception sells amazing food and drinks and is highly recommended.

Golden Beach Village is only a short drive from the border of South Africa and is also close to the market where one can buy and indulge in a range of foods and treats that the market has to offer
The locals at the market can always smell out a tourist so make sure to not get overcharged. One can always bargain down.
Please note Golden Beach Village is not very accessible by normal car and it would be advisable to use a 4x4 to get there.
We stayed at the villas over the period of the STRAB music festival. We drove to and from the festival every day/night which was also a short distance

Will definitely love to stay at the villas again.

Visited the restaurant at Golden Beach on the evening of 9 August 2016. My friend and I had enjoyed hot chocolate and cappuccino earlier in the week next to the pool and really enjoyed it. We then invited a group of friends to join us for seafood on their last night in Mozambique...what a disaster.

10 of us arrived at 19:30, there was only 1 other small table of patrons who left soon after. 2 hours we received most of our meal. Rice and seafood luke warm, calamari plates came out - some with 4 pieces calamari, some with 3 and some with 2...clearly they ran out. One of the girls got no food, the waiter said "Eish, I made a mistake". So the rest of us who ordered the larger platters took some of our food to give to her. It was terrible. The guys went home hungry and angry, it's not cheap either, and they didn't even offer anything to the girl whose food wasn't made.

Avoid this shocking place and go to Ninhos Restaurant instead - great food, prices and quantity. Golden Beach left us all with a sour taste in the mouth.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay in villa 1. The villa was well appointed but the kitchen could be a little better equipped i.e mugs and a little more cutlery and crockery. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed the privacy. Management staff were very helpful. The Wi-Fi was unfortunately not operational/available. The braai needs replacing. James & Beth

I had my daughter's 21st Birthday Party on the 3rd December 2016.
It was beautiful. The accommodation was exactly as advertised, Helena and staff were great. Needless to say we had an amazing time. Food was tasty.
Special thanks to Courtney from Halo Gaia Adventure Travel for her support in assisting with all the arrangements and swimming with the dolphins.
Everyone had a blast!!!!!
Will be back :)

We were a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews here, but after seeing a post on Instagram we decided to go and it did not disappoint. We stayed at villa 2 with sea view and everything was working perfectly, cleaning was done everyday. The manager was also very kind and friendly from the booking to our stay there. We also used the transport from the police station in ponta to the village (access requires a 4x4) and that worked fine. Staff was also friendly. We are definitely returning.

We arrived with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised with the overall offering. Let’s start with the rooms: my wife and I were in a one bedroom villa and our kids were in a three bedroom villa. The rooms are well appointed with spacious living spaces, comfy bed, good air conditioning, good TV, etc. The three bedroom unit had bigger living areas and each room was en suite with air con. No complaints at all about the rooms. The pool area and restaurant area are decent. This is the only area where there is wifi and it is not the best (but I guess one goes to Ponta Molangane to get away from their phone anyway).

It is a self catering resort but there is a restaurant where one can grab a breakfast or food during the day.

The resort is built in thick costal bush on the dunes with some units overlooking the sea but most are in the coastal bush. The dunes are quite large so there are about 250 stairs to get to the beach from the resort but it is so worth the walk ~ the beach is lovely, unspoilt and hardly anyone on it. We had turtles laying eggs on the beach right in front of the steps.

The resort is about 2Km south of the village of Ponta Malongane, and about 20km north of the Kosi Bay border (the first +- 10km is on tar and the 2nd 10km is on soft sand).

I would happily stay here again and would try get a sea facing unit.

I joined 3 friends on a road trip to Mozambique. The boarder experience was good. I last visited Mozambique 10 years ago so welcomed the tarred road from the Boarder to Maputo. Spent 4 nights at the Golden Beach Village. Lovely modern and well-decorated villas but the new Manager and staff really need to get their services levels up and running before the festive season.
Missing shower door in main bedroom shower was not mentioned to us on check-in. Villa not cleaned because keys were not left at reception. If advised we would have done so. Communication definitely needs to improve.
Our two bedroom villa was nice nestled in the middle of a forest with no sea view but a walkway to the beach, yes about 200 stairs. Had drinks and light meals in Ponto, most meals were eaten at The Drunken Clam, in fact, I highly recommend the prawns and chicken. Unfortunately, other restaurants are not worth mentioning.
Weather was not great, not much activities but very good bars for unlimited Rum and Raspberry....

We visited this resort with a group of friends and our respective families for a few day's. The rooms were modern, clean and attractive; very pleasant.
The service was not perfect bug management were quick to respond to concerns raised. As with other resorts along this stretch of the beach, there is a long climb down to (and especially up from!) the beach 239 steps! A good way to work off some of the inevitable R&R indulgence.
The resort is close to Ponte Malangane which has quaint pubs, restaurants and local markets.

Do you need to take malaria pills in your area?
Answer from Samista J
35 contributions5 helpful votes
It depends on the time of year. Winter is not bad. Look carefully for a decent brand. The older ones were taken weekly ay you couldn't drink alcohol with it. They also caused hallucinations. The new daily ones are really good though. If you are going for a while maybe buy a malaria test kit. They are about R100 but can save thou allot of worry.
