My wife and I have stayed at Lou moon before but it's was the 1st time with our 10 month old baby. We had a good stay last time but spoilt by poor weather. Sadly only 5 hours sun in 3 days this time but it makes you appreciate what the hotel do and don't have for amenities.

We stayed at one of their new private villas on the island with a pool. Just beautiful. Up there with some of the best in the world I have stayed at. Really feels like Seychelles or Mauritius. The design, quality and layout is perfect but you have to have a very close eye on a toddler with straight drops down to the rocks. I am surprised this was not raised when we booked.

Sadly we were missing the standards on arrival. Bed was not made, linen was not at hand, soaps were missing things like bubble bath which you want because the bath is so awesome. The room had a kitchenette but not equipment, glasses, cutlery etc which seemed such a waste. It also made it very hard to manage the baby. We had to call every time for small things. These are small things but it's the detail that takes a good hotel to a great hotel and Lou Moon missed those details.

Anyway the place is beautiful and our staff were lovely. Very under trained for such a high end venue but they were always happy to help.

The food ranged from incredible to very poor. We left 2 meals but we're still charged but the rest we had were fantastic. If you don't like garlic don't come. It's in everything.

We drank plenty and prices are reasonable but 3 out of the 4 wines we tried were going off due to not being stored in a cool room. OK when it's house but when your paying $40 a bottle it should be good.

I can't recommend Lou Moon enough but if they could just get the details right it would be the best in Ghana.

We went to Lou Moon for a girls retreat. I didn't know what to expect. We drove the five hours from Accra and were more than a little concerned as we drove into the resort. (This is an easily correctable focus on welcoming a tired guest, an attractive entry, a cool drink, and visible signs to direct guests to the reception area.) The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were not happy with our first room (#7). It was clean and comfortable but lacked a comfortable place to sit and relax. Lou Moon honoured our request for a room change; at some additional cost, we were transferred to room 1.

I will go to Lou Moon again and again, but only if I can stay in Room 1. The resort has 4 rooms on 'the Island'. (Don't be fooled it is quite a trek from the resort proper.) Tastefully appointed, wonderful design innovations (remember to open the wooden curtains at dawn so you can wake up to the sun on the sea). The Verandah is made for lounging, soaking in the views, and long conversations over tasty meals, served by the smiling staff.

While we enjoyed our time on the beach (Emmanuel thank you for the coconuts), and the wonderful massage from Gloria, The morning swim in the private pool was the cherry on the cake.

Thank you all (Paul, Kojo, Tony, David, Peter, Matilda, Deborah and others) for a most enjoyable visit. We will be back.

Ok, this is by far the most expensive place I have stayed in the recent past. But i do not lie when i say it was worth every penny. If you're going, pay the little extra for a chalet on the island, its truly spectacular. Food and drinks were amazing, rooms were just outstanding and staff were wonderful.

Go here.

Very quiet and romantic hotel. Most of all their rooms on the island is just super, they have different kinds of menu and different types of food. The security is tight and what I can say is, lou moon lodge is good for family and lovers. If you are looking for real place to relax, for honeymoon, just go to lou moon lodge and you will never forget.

Spent a couple of weeks in Ghana and this was our treat along the coast. We had a two bedroom lodge with wonderful views of the water. A great bedroom with relaxing chairs, a good shower and AC. The setting is lovely and the staff were most helpful. The beach is sheltered and is one of the best swimming or as we were told by other Ghanain resident visitors as best swimming beach in Ghana. Lovely open dining area with well made meals. The grilled lobster was excellent.

Beautiful hotel and beach. Great family getaway. Good food, if pricey. Well worth the long trip to get there. Lou moon is 2 hrs down an awful road from takoradi, or 7 hrs in traffic from Accra. But it's worth it.... The views from the very comfortable island bungalows was fantastic. Only recommendation for the owner is to find a way for customers to pay by credit card.

Wow. This is a top-notch hotel with all the amenities. Great staff, delicious food, wonderful location, huge rooms. If you can afford it, go for it. The staff spent 4 hours one morning trying to get all the seaweed cleaned up from the beach AND the ocean (using a net to collect a huge patch of it right off the swim beach). They set up a private beachfront table for us on our anniversary, which was a great touch. Beautiful place.

Nice and friendly, down to earth style hotel close to Axim. Super bad road at the moment (is under construction) and signs with directions could be better. Nice simple rooms with ok beds. Clean and spacious. Best is if you can get the private island house! Beautiful beach and great swimming in the safe bay (not the normal undercurrent). Interesting menus which changed daily. Possibility to have a romantic dinner at a table down by the beach, super nice!

Lou Moon is beautiful. It is tucked away in a cove about 30mins off the main road, but the drive to get there was worth it. The rooms are big and spacious with modern facilities, the garden / beach area is well presented and very enticing, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. However, the best thing about Lou Moon is the food. Simply delicious food served every day for lunch and dinner, cooked by a very talented team of chefs, with local produce. The fish I had for my dinner one evening was literally caught one hour before.

Don't go to Lou Moon if you want to check your emails or watch tv. Go there for peace and quiet and the sound of the waves as you fall alseep.

Truly wonderful.
