What an amazing place, the scenery, attention to detail, staff, atmosphere, food and service is UNBEATABLE.

We had an amazing stay and experienced everything they have to offer. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but if you need a place in ghana to visit this MUST be top of your list.

We stayed at the Island Cape Executive Bungalow #2. Right from entering the premises of Lou Moon you knew this was different and this right from point of reception through introduction to the bungalow, service mindenes of all members of staff ALL. The layout of the bungalow, the quality and carefully selected building materials and the island in itself. Difficult to describe to make it honour what we saw and felt. A must try for you all. The view from the bungalow was magnificent and the short walk from the bungalow back to the beach and other facilities in itself was breathtaking. Food was absolutely world class as well as a great selection of drinks right from the beer, wine and cocktails.

What can i say, Lou Moon is amazing, very beautiful part of Ghana with an amazingly superb beach, golden sands, coconut trees and turquoise sea, the perfect setting to relax and refresh yourself. First of all the staff from the Manager, bar staff, the kitchen to the security are really helpful and super cool, service with a smile, great team. the hotel is very clean and fresh with clean bed linen and towels. Next i just want to say Bravo to the chef and his team because i enjoyed every single meal plus i loved the Fried plantain, very delicious with the various fish meals. And before i forget Isabella the deer made the place magical, Lou Moon is special and i can't wait to go back. Last I want to say a big thank you to the managers Kodwo and Tony.

Two words: "A Dream".

My only suggestion - and I mean ONLY suggestions - is some lighter lunch item on the menu other than salad. After a big breakfast and leading up to a delicious dinner with sizable mains, a lighter lunch which included sandwiches or soups would have been nice.

Otherwise, it was the perfect. I Loved it.

Having read and listened to a lot of friends talk about their experience at lou moon,i was very much excited to experience my little piece of paradise.
Yes the journey was ardeous and long but the view when we got to the destination was totally worth it!
My partner and i did not miss our television one bit!we were such a relaxing experience and felt real sad whem were to leave.
The staff and the food was excellent. We were treated with utmost care and respect.
The only downer was seeing a snake around the rocks but i guess it can be expected considering the location.
Thank you to Nana Esi and everybody at lou moon,it was sure worth the hype.

It's a longish drive from Accra, and the last 40 kilometres is pot holed or laterite based....but the welcoming smiles and service make you forget the journey almost immediately.

We stayed in the Island bay view room and it's gorgeous and very private. Comfortable, clean, spacious, with a decor that is natural and authentic. The views is stunning. The AC works well and is much needed as the humidity outside can be very high.

Food was restricted to a few choices at lunch and dinner, but all were excellent in freshness and served in good time, again with smiles all round by the staff.

The tranquility of the place, with no curio sellers or outsiders disturbing you, makes for a very secure feeling. There are no TV's in the rooms and this allows for a complete shut out of the bigger world of there.....as it should be in a place like this!

The resort is set in a relatively untouched setting, so there is quite some reptile activity on land. In the rocky parts of the bay be careful of the sea urchins as their quills do hurt your feet.

I highly recommend this resort, most particularly the staff.

This place is VERY VERY NICE !! though tucked in a small village, one can get lost in tranquility.. so calm, so peaceful, so beautiful.. it is unbelievable. The water is serene and with a clear sky turns blue - Add to that yellow sand the beautiful green hills. WOW !!

You have a volleyball court, Kayaks, small shooting range, massage place to keep you busy - along with a small sand pit for the kids to be busy with..

Food is also nice, but the service is REALLY SLOW.. you will get food only after 45 minutes of ordering - be patient and enjoy..

Very friendly staff, they will go out of the way to make you feel comfortable

Although a traffic nightmare from Accra, this destination was definitely worth the trip. Of the many resorts we have stayed at in Accra, this one was definitely visually the best. The bay kept the usual rough surf off the Gulf of Guinea at almost a standstill so my wife and I were able to swim and kayak very easily. The surf is also much cleaner in this very west region of Ghana. No locals were around to hock their usual wears and beg for money and the place was kept secure and immaculately clean. The open air restaurant was kept well stocked, and although menu was limited they always had what was on the menu, it was fresh, and prepared very well. The English breakfast and the grilled lobster were my favorites. However, the best thing about the lodge is the staff...very friendly, always willing to help with whatever, and very attentive. Tony and Essie stand out in particular. We are going back to this place.

Ok here goes, if you're heading to Lou Moon from Accra it'll probably take max 3hours to get there and the last 10-15kms is not the most pleasant. You quickly get over this though when you arrive at Lou Moon. By the way if you've not arranged transport from the airport please ask Lou Moon for an airport pickup (& drop off), much better value!

Its such a pleasant place to arrive in. No long drawn out check-in procedures et al, the refreshing sea breeze hitting you in the face. I arrived about 10am and check-in is 2pm but the staff got me settled quickly, infact I think I had brunch and a cocktail before getting to my room for a short snooze :) Thanks Isaac & co! Don't be fooled there's plenty to do, just ask and the staff will sort you out, can't imagine anyone resisting swimming all day.

If you intend to hang out at the bar/restaurant in the evenings be prepared for the strong evening breeze which can sometimes get quite cool. After all your swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, table tennis, volley ball etc I doubt there'll be any energy left to hang out for long. Of course some nights it can get quite still I imagine. One fascinating thing was the sound of the waves crashing to the shore. I tell you sometimes nature can be a nuisance unto itself. Some nights it sounded like you were sleeping behind the engines of a boeing 777 and I had to remind myself where I was. I had Island Exec bungalow so go the full blasts from the sea but would change for anything! Splash our on an Island Exec if you can, totally excellent view of the bay!

The meals are good! The chef Yvonnique and his junior Emmanuel can put a spin on any meal they're serving that day. There was always fresh seafood on the menu during my day. If you're lucky you'll be in time to see the fishermen drag the days catch outta the sea. The beach is small but so so clean, I even love the sand, its not the powdery stuff that gets everywhere lol.

The rooms are simple, elegant and relaxing; can't imagine you'll spend much time there most of mine was spent on the beach or dozing on my porch but its pleasant rooms to return to. There's no TV or internet in the rooms (not in the Island Exec anyway) but you won't miss it.

The water's great to swim in but you still get some 'debris' floating about, its great the hotel makes the effort to try clean it up early in the mornings.

If you want to get away from the world, enjoy some real 'me time' this is the place for you.
I was there about 10days ago; would I go back? Definitely!!!

A couple of months ago we wrote a review about this hotel and somehow it was removed without our consent.

The hotel is nice. Far from Accra but relaxing. The suite we stayed at was more than what we expected.

The problem was the food. We got very sick. We didn't have anything to eat prior to this trip and we're 100% sure it was the fish we had. The only reason why we wrote the warning review was so that others were a bit cautioned about the food. We received an email from the owner stating that his food was fresh. He cannot guarantee this. The water where the fish is around that area, as it turns out, it's pretty contaminated. This is nothing against him or his hotel. Just a warning only.

Like I said, the hotel is very nice and very pleasant. The staff extremely friendly. I'm just being honest here.

Response from LouMoonLodge, Owner at Lou Moon Resort - Eco Luxury
Responded 05 Aug 2012
We requested Tripadvisor to remove the first review because it seems it was a badly intentioned one for several reasons . 1/The author mentioned that they report first the problem to me, what was not. 2/They were very agressive with their comments, saying "not a place to take children, children are many amongst our guests 3/we wrote to them in order to find out but they never reply to us. 4/when a fish is not fresh you can smelt it or feel it immediatlly, why they didn't complain straight away, we would have replace it without any problems. 5/ They complain first we uy our seafood from the "locals",they state now that the water around is contamined. what evidence do they have to make such a nasty statement? I can say today that the water around our village is not contaminated, I am swimming in it very often and we endeavor everyday to serve the best and freshest seafood you can find in Ghana. And we are proud to buy most of it from the local fishermen. I am eating (a lot of fish, and row fish) there myself every day and my wife and two kids were eating there as well for fives years. For sure we operate in humid tropical area where the zero risk in with food doesn't exist. If a guest is mentioning any problem we do not play with it and we replace the food immediatly. As owner I feel very unfair to argue with somebody who keep hiding behind a pseudo and who is not abble to stated accurate fact as date/ room number. We will keep fighting every day to make Lou Moon Lodge as one of the best beach resort to rest in Ghana, and I ask tripadvisor to remove that review or at least to issue my reply after that very unfair review.
