.We have stayed in this hotel several times and are familiar with its facilities.

We booked a short three night break (25th to 28th August) and were aware there would be restrictions with regards to the flexibility of the time could take breakfast and dinner. These restrictions are clearly stated on the hotel website under the COVID section.

However on checking in today we find that the hotel bar would not open until 20:00 due to COVID restrictions . Although if a bar can open at 20:00 I fail to see why it cant open earlier. The only place to have a drink or lunch was at the small and understaffed hotel pool bar. I would say the staff were doing their best despite being over worked! The pool bar offers drinks in plastic glasses and a very child orientated food menu. We are adults supposedly staying at a 5 star hotel and if we are not using the pool would like to be able to have a civilised sit down lunch and drink out of a proper glass.

The hotel should fails to make this reduction in facilities clear to prospective guests before confirming a booking, the hotel website still indicates a full range of restaurants and bars as being available when they are not. It is not acceptable for a 5 star hotel to act this way, we should have been told on booking or it should be clearly stated on the website that the bars and restaurant facilities are very limited.

We pointed this out to reception but received just a muffled apology. We have no idea if it has been escalated to management.

We appreciate times are difficult for businesses and this is usually an excellent hotel with facilities to match, but communication with clients is key and they have failed in that.

Dear Marc, Thank you for your repeat visit, and for taking the time to let us know how you experienced your stay at the Gran Palas, all comments are important to us, and help us to get better each day!! We are so sorry that you did not find exactly what you expected compared to other years, we were also sad that we could only not open the garden grill this summer, for which we made sure the buffet restaurant was stocked with a daily changing menu of local, fresh produce, the same as in the grill, and as we have always an ear for comments, adapted daily to any special preferences our guests request. We also made sure that the opening/closing times of our bars ensured you could have a drink or snack or meal anytime during the day or evening. We endeavoured also to offer a simple but varied menu by the pool, with typical popular snacks (pizza, hamburger, hotdog...) as well as delicious healthy alternatives, wraps and salads... we are so sorry that we are unable to have glass by the pool even if we agree with you, a cocktail or wine simply tastes better in a proper glass! We hope that despite the above you were able to enjoy a proper rest, and hope you will give us another chance next year when things are, hopefully, back to normal. In the meantime, KeepSafeKeepHealthy!

We have been to this hotel before and were happy to go again. On checking in, we had a small problem with the room we chose and the manager was very accommodating and corrected the problem immediately.
We were amongst the first guests following the Covid-19 closure and e expected that there could be some hiccups but as the small problems arose so did the solutions!
This hotel is situated in a great area and offers many activities for families (with or without children).
The area is full of great restaurants and the beach is magnificent.
Thank you! we will recommend to our friends!

Housekeeping is terrible. They clean the late, remove bathrobes, and even tv remote goes missing. The bar does not have the brand I drink and tried to cheat me with switching ligure with the brand I drink, which is really cheap for a 5 star, and when I asked them if I can bring my own and charge for corkage they refused

Labeling the hotel 5 star sets it up for failure unfortunately. Whilst our room was great (duplex, so our daughter had her own space) and the outside space by the pools was attractive, overall the service did not meet our expectations. It took 20 minutes to check in without any warm welcome.
We enjoyed the spa facilities although they need a complete overhaul with several rusty pipes on display & screws sticking up in the sauna. We were shocked that as hotel guests we had only 1 towel each to use & if we wanted to change it, it would have cost €10. We had to buy pool hats which again as hotel guests should have been included.
We ate well on the first night, but after that there was less food on offer with no variety.
The lobby bar was a high point; great food & excellent service. We travelled slightly out of season so the Moss Market wasn’t open & the pool bar didn’t serve food, fair enough if there were insufficient guests.
All in all, the hotel cost a lot of money and it wasn’t worth it.

It is a beautiful hotel but they do not take care of the details. Too close to be a 5-star.

ROOM, they do not replenish the spent soaps and when asking you say that they are complimentary and have no replenishment. After the daily cleaning the room does not smell good... then I fix and clean with the black water, both the one that cleaned our room and the rest. The towels are small and more than a 3-star hotel. The overall cleanliness very fair. When I turned it on, dirt came out. Rating cleanliness 5

RESTAURANT. Always the same super basic meals and no menu changes practically. Dinners a little better but not for more than three days. This hotel needs to reinvent itself in terms of restoration is very poor. Good thing the staff is super attentive.
........ INTOLERABLE...... refill orange juice with 5 liter bottles of water. I saw it the first day and I didn't believe it, the second day I recorded it, I'm sure the property doesn't know, I don't think it's allowed
Location-wise a 10
Facilities a very good 9 pool.
Very poor animation for the day.
Evening entertainment....there is no, only ballroom dancing, and this in August, is also a very sad topic.
I hope this makes this hotel better as it has possibilities

First of all I paid for the sea view room eith gilf experience only to find on arrival that I wont get the free round of golf because I didnt book it 2 weeks in advance. They never stated this during booking.
There is zero effort made at reception on arrival.
Charged an extra 'tax' on arrival plus 100 euro as a deposit.
Left find my room myself.
There was zero information in the room.
There was nothing to tell you how to join the wifi so I went to ring reception to ask but there wasn't even a number on the phone to call reception.
When I unpacked and put my stuff in the safe I found that the safe was broken. I rang 3 times before someone came to replace the batteries in it.
The hotel itself is too far from decent shops and restaurants.
The spa closes at 8.30. Water is freezing cold in the jacuzzis and they make you buy a swimming hat to sit in them.
The entertainment is the worst I've seen. You can hear music and fun happening in the surrounding hotels but this one is just dead. They play a short bit of music from 10-12pm and that's it. The fusion hotel bar/club is almost totally empty every night. Max I've seen was 8 people at it. The only pleasant staff was one lady in the restaurant.

The room has views of the sea, what you see are palm trees and in the background you can see the sea
At reception they make you leave a 100 euro deposit in case you make any expenses, which is impossible because there is no minibar and breakfast comes with the room card. At check-out, they did not want to return it because they had to check everything. In my life, I have seen something similar.
The sheets were so old that they had some holes and were so wrinkled that they looked used, a total disappointment in a 5-star hotel.

The hotel is very nice and the situation is ideal but to be 5* there are several aspects that do not correspond. For example, you can not reserve parking in advance, it is according to arrival and in times of great influx you may not have a place when arriving, we based on asking several times if they had any free space at the end we could reserve the second day, outside you can park but it is blue area with the drawback of being changing the ticket. The room is fine but the pillows for me taste are not comfortable and there are not several to choose from as in other hotels in this category, the sink drain seems to lack the grille, the line of the terrace was old and broken, we changed it but already on the penultimate day, for a 5* they no longer had to have it like this on arrival, you have bathrobe and slippers, welcome water and some chocolates. Regular cleaning, the first days we needed to replenish some things, but good warning right away they solve it and do not repeat. Breakfast and dinner is very good, it is somewhat repetitive but there are several options so you can vary every day, the dining room is very large and spacious and no queues are generated, we are also assigned a slot to avoid crowding, one day dinner was made in the garden and it was very nice and different, we were also offered cava when entering. The pool and spa areas a wonder, plus the spa is included and children can enter until 18:30. There are musical performances at night but more animation is lacking although outside there is a lot of atmosphere with bars, restaurants and shops, at the end of July there are also parties. Overall we really enjoyed our vacation and if we return to the area we would repeat.

The rooms are large, the double bed and the pillows are perfect.

A lot of light enters the room.

The dinner was good but not at the level of a 5-star hotel, and the breakfast was weaker, little sausage, no serrano ham...

The facilities are fine, the spa is being remodeled but it looks neglected, as a beach hotel is the best in the area but not a 5 star hotel.

The stay has been good and pleasant in general.

Don’t book, it’s a ripoff!!!
We’ve booked and paid a family room with seaview which cost an additional 50 euros / night compared to the classic room. When we arrived we were given only a classic room. We were told they’re fully booked and we can either take it or not. The staff added that they are not allowed to do any changes, only the manager of the reception can take decisions. Since it’s weekend she’s not on site, maybe next day. Next morning the same. We talked to a couple of receptionists. Everyone telling us they are fully booked and they are not allowed to change anything. And since it’s weekend nobody knows when the manager will show up. Late afternoon we received a call, we were shown an even worse room - of course - which we declined. To the reception manager, an ice cold aggressive pitbull style person, who obviously doesn’t care about customer satisfaction, the case was closed as they are fully booked. Refunds were declined. A rip off of 500 Euros, as we have paid 500 euros for a higher category room for 10 nights. She just turned to her paperwork.

Furthermore we were informed that our breakfast time is between 8:00 and 9:15. Non negotiable. Hence we couldn’t sleep in at all!!!

The brasserie is closed. Only the indoor buffet restaurant was open for breakfast and dinner.

The shower was either cold or burning hot. The aircon was either off or ice cold.

The indoor bar was closed. The outdoor bar hosted an annoying children animation until 10:00 pm at night!!!

It’s not a 5 star hotel. It’s a run down 4 star hotel, selling expensive rooms they don’t have. Ripping off customers.
