This is decent enough resort. I guess. Our room which was an overwater bungalow had some plumbing issues which never really got resolved. A nice enough staff, but nobody who really went out of their way to be friendly. Nice beaches, but not extraordinary. Just ok. I regret the choice simply because we had gone such a long way. I wish we had stayed somewhere further from Male and higher end. I feel like if you are going that far you really want to feel isolated and this one just doesn’t. It is nice to only be a fifteen minute boat ride from the airport though. The food was fine, but just fine. I can’t think of any one meal that we had that was anything other than fine. It’s a shame because it could be amazing. You are in the Maldives after all. You can do better, I’m sure.

Sheraton Maldives situated about 20 mins speedboat ride from male airport is one of the oldest resorts in male ,the island by itself is quite average . You won’t find any corals around the island and the beach on the resort is not as picturesque as portrayed on images . The rooms in the hotel are good but not at all value for money . 600USD for a beach villa I thought was quite overpriced in comparison to the quality. The food served at the resort buffet restaurant was nothing short of below average . I can understand that things in Maldives are expensive compared to other parts of the world due to the various reasons of maintaining the island etc but then one expects similar standards of quality and comfort for the price . Some staff at the front office were nice and helpful and many at the buffet restaurant were least obliging , like for instance we were traveling with our 2 year old kid and if he had a some veg request in 90% non veg buffet I found the staff least helpfull in arranging the same . Buggy services were a bit too long wait and many times we had to walk from our room to the restaurant with our baby which was like quite tiresome and long . The resort being so close to the airport , has regular noise of flights taking off and the calmness of private island is missing . All in all I also got the impression through this resort that Maldives is overhyped and not as picturesque as I had imagined or maybe this resort just never gave that feel .

Dear Tour43587165770, Greetings from Sheraton Maldives. Thanks for staying with us during your recent trip to the Maldives and also writing this review. We regret to see that your experience wasn't as good as we hoped for. Your feedback works as a tool of improvement for our product and services, as we pay attention for every single comment. Although we have multiple choices of vegetarian dishes throughout our outlets, we will continue our mission of continuous improvement; I have shared your feedback to the culinary department. Apologies for the delay on our buggy service. Sheraton Maldives island has one of the most lavish vegetations' amongst the resorts in Maldives, a nice and safe lagoon, a Spa on its own island and large sandy beaches. Thanks & regards, Sergio

The location is conveniently close to Male international airport – just a short boat ride away. The downside being that there is some aircraft noise from time to time. We were upgraded to an OverWater Villa, which was relatively small compared to some of the OWVs we have experienced in the Maldives, but still pleasant enough. The toilet cubicle was a little small however. And there’s no house reef as such but we did see a fair amount of aquatic life snorkelling straight from our villa (the currents were quite strong but you are provided with life jackets). The TV reception was terrible in our room, but we didn’t make a big deal about it since we were only here for a couple of nights. On the flipside, Wi-Fi was excellent throughout the island. The island itself is well designed with mature foliage and quite a few places to explore. The swimming pool and beach areas are good, and there’s a nice activities area near the main beach with boules, darts, and football available. There’s also a tennis court and good sized indoor gym (and a unique outdoor gym but it was way too hot to try). At the extreme end of the island is a very nice SPA. We tried a few of the restaurants on the island which were pretty good. Our favourite was Baan Thai. Strangely, when we tried to reserve an evening table here we were told categorically that the restaurant was fully booked. We decided to just turn up and were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant deserted. In fact, we were the only people dining for at least the first hour and even after a couple of hours there were only a handful of other diners. Anyway, the food was very good indeed with fresh ingredients and a lovely Thai chef who we met later. We especially liked the king prawns. And the service was excellent too. This said, service outside of the restaurants was distinctly lacking. Check-out, for example, was not well coordinated. No-one proactively informed us on boat times, suitcase collection, etc, so we ended up just going straight to the docking pavilion to sort things out. Overall, as a resort, it doesn’t come close to some of the Maldives islands which are further afield. However, it’s not a bad place and proved to be a very good stopover location close to Male airport.
