We have just returned from Sheraton full moon resort. We stayed 7 days. From arrival we was greeted with a smile and made it fast to our boat. As we got on the boat fresh water was served ( 35° ). Boat ride 8 min from Male. As we arrived in reception we was served welcome drinks and made a fast introduction of the hotel. Our room was 306 with sea view and it was stunning. We went for our anniversary and the bed was decorated nicely with flowers which made us feel welcome. What makes this resort extremely good is the people. Muhaimin with his excellent service following Eka head reception and Salinda at the Chopstick restaurant not forgetting Richardo executive chef .This amazing people made us feel special every day of our stay . Having said that all the other staff were smiling and friendly. The GM should be proud of his team. The gardener's the housekeeping team the maintenance. All they make the difference. The resort is 5 star with food being the best , views the island in general is super maintained because of staff work and dedication. Staff prepared 3 nights a week buffet style different themed on the beach. Lots of activities ( snorkeling masks free canoeing free and paddle free) the rest you need to pay . We recommend you guys go full board and will not be disappointed. Thank you ❤️ to all of you at Sheraton for making our stay memorable.

We initially booked 4 days in Sheraton and another 3 nights split stay in Westin for split stay. However due to the Covid situation we couldn't make it split stay, hence we extended our stay in Sheraton for total 7 days. It turned out to be one of best experiences we had in out travel history. Water villa and ocean villa gave great view on both ocean, water and sand beach. we also had wonderful buffet food in the resort. We experienced morning and sunset yoga which was fabulous. the water extreme sports were also very nice for us to explore maldives. the manager Mohamed was very helpful in helping us book extend stay and arrange a late checkout on the last day when we departure to airport. The resort itself is huge enough to explore everything and it's covered with nature greens so you won't feel hot most of the time. strongly encourage for family time.

Second time we stayed in this resort. First time was 4yrs ago. We stayed with a family of 5 over xmas and new year period. The resort is still very nice but the accommodations are getting older. A good renovation would bring this resort back to a full 5*. Food and service is excellent. Surroundings are beautiful a daily walk to stretch the legs is very well possible or a nice jog. A negative of the location is that its too near to malé. They are building a lot in malé and also a lot of high skyscrapers. It spoils the view on certain areas of the island. Although they do take measures like growth, its not sufficient.

We stayed at the Sheraton for 10 days over New Year . Overall I would give the hotel an 7.5 out of 10 - in short the hotel quality and overall service levels are very impressive and we had a really great stay but this is offset by the merciless pursuit to squeeze every penny out their guests (noting this is a pretty consistent theme in the reviews) which left a bad taste and made us feel like our quality of stay was not their top priority - as an example having just settled a $23,000 bill they came running after us as if there was some form of emergency to let us know that the bill hadn’t included a $8 coke and rushed for us to settle immediately! It is likely the Marriott Group sees a Maldives holiday as a “one off” not a recurring trip and therefore strategy is maximise per guest revenue rather than build a repeat customer relationship - I think this is a false economy for them and they should reconsider this approach.

I am giving Sheraton Maldives 4 stars in my review for the way we felt during and after our stay plus for their facilities in comparison with other 5 star hotels in Maldives we have visited in the past. It wasn’t perfect but wasn’t bad either. I would start by saying this was our 5th visit to Maldives and unfortunately it’s the first time I have to say - I wouldn’t go back to Sheraton. With our previous hotels - I would go back in a flash. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday as it is the first one in 3 years, but for me this resort was lacking attention to detail. Positives: Friendly staff. We had no issues at all. Everyone was friendly and happy to help. Some looked a bit stressed at meal times - but to be honest, the way some guests behave - I would be too! Delicious food. Every meal we had in any restaurant/buffet - was absolutely superb. I cannot fault anything. Stunning food - well done to all the chefs! The hotel is very close to the main island - a quick and easy speed boat transfer to/from the hotel. Ideal - after 11 hour fight. Considerations: Close to Male/Noise pollution. Yes it is a positive and a negative at the same time. It is sooo close to the main island you can see every commercial plane land and take off to the point you can see which airline it is + seaplanes all day long. I don’t think I have one video on my phone without plane noise on the background. It does spoil the tranquility quite a bit. Room service. Rooms don’t get cleaned thoroughly. I don’t think it’s cleaners’ fault, they are either under a huge pressure to clean as fast as possible as many rooms as possible; or they lack training. There is a lot of dust everywhere, dead lizards under beds and behind tables (and I am not a fanatic, I discovered it only because needed to reach sockets for chargers), dust on the shelf above the bed, etc. teas/coffees don’t get checked/refilled and it’s quite frustrating when you want that cup of coffee and there is none. Yes I could request, but the moment is gone and you don’t want it half an hour/hour later. If we used glasses/cups and they got taken away - they weren’t replaced by clean ones until the next day at least. Orange lounger towels weren’t always replaced daily so I had to go the bar to get fresh ones. Sometimes dirty dishes/towels were left by cleaners by the front door to be picked up by other staff - were sitting there with food leftovers for over 24 hr. No hair conditioner. Now, that one really shocked me. I have never been in the hotel where they don’t supply you with a hair conditioner, definitely not in a 5 star hotel. First I thought it was just a mistake, but apparently they just don’t do it. If I knew that - I’d bring my own. With being in the water most of the day, hair conditioner is almost a must daily. So I had to go and buy one from the gift shop, a small bottle for 12$. Pool needs attention asap. We stayed in the cottage with a pool. The pool is quite nice, not big but ok. However, lots of tiles come off plus filler is running so thin between tiles - it is a hazard as edges of tiles are now prominent and very sharp. In fact, one of my children scraped her toe and was bleeding once. Really not good and needs serious attention. The room could do with a foldable drying rack. Breakfast buffet was sufficient but for me was lacking vegetables, tiny bowls for tomatoes and cucumbers but tons of pots of noodles and other heavy dishes for breakfast etc. I had to “steal” fresh onions from the Omelette making chef (he was super nice about it by the way), I found it very strange. No beach attendants. No one is really there to check if you need anything, any drinks, etc. I had to go to the bar myself, which is fine but I could have ordered a lot more if someone came and offered me (I was on B&B base so was paying for everything, so they missed a few bucks on that). Prices. No comments really… Extortionate. 110$ for evening buffet and 80$ for a (realistically!) 10$ bottle of wine….wow. I know they say it has to be imported but hey, it has to come to Scotland too from New Zealand, and it’s a lot farther away, just saying. Now, this one is an odd one. Maybe I am the odd one, but I found it really strange and never experienced this before. One day, the sous-chef that you are used to see in the restaurants, during meal times in his fancy uniform and all the rest of it - was sitting half-naked at the beach bar, drinking beer and smoking. Now, I don’t have the problem with any of those things, but for the member of the staff to do it on their day off - I almost found it very unprofessional on behalf of the hotel. Like I said, I’ve not encountered this before, but it just didn’t sit right with me. And the cherry on the top - you are going to like it. If I wasn’t laughing about it - I would actually cry. One day, as you do some time after 5pm - I went to the shower. Showers are outside as you know. There are tall walls around it so that’s fine, no one can see you, or at least that’s what you think. I am completely naked (surprise!..right?) Doing what people do in the shower, spent probably good 5 minutes in there, suddenly hear some strange noise. I turn around and see a man on a palm tree staring right at me. I mean it was that close, I could see his face. So I am not trying to make a scene, swiftly disappear from his sight and then thinking what the actual hell are they thinking?! Cutting palm tree leaves at the time when people get ready for the evening? And, mind you, people can be doing all sorts of things in their bathrooms. I am not really easily disturbed, but when I thought there could be my kids or honeymooners next door…like, come on? Where is the common sense? I phoned straightaway to suggest that maybe you should warn guests before you do that, the manager wasn’t available but later called. He basically just said sorry, the intention wasn’t to stare at you. Right, ok. If I am perfectly honest - at that point I expected at least a bottle of wine or a dinner on the house. And that’s not me being cheeky, but genuinely, in my experience, when hotels screw up (especially like this!) - that is a kind of normal way of apologising. But just to say sorry - nah, not good enough, Sheraton.
