Excellent service and food, worth the visit. I can recommend the restaurant and the wine definitely. The cottages are neat and comfortable. I think it will be nice in the winter but it was extremely hot in the cottage. I suggest definitely a aircon the swimming pool is at the restaurant, it is not private.

Hi volstruis12, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Black Oystercatcher - and for the kind words on the restaurant and wines. You're right - the cottages are very cosy in winter with the fireplaces. But we're sorry you felt it was a bit warm in summer. Usually our cooling winds are very good at cooling things down a bit...

I had a soup with mussels and it was incredibly delicious. The wine is also excellent. This restaurant is a wonderfull place with an excellent service! Its worth to make the way there and relax with a nice meal and a glass of wine. You'll not regret your decision to go there!

This is the perfect place for a technology detox. There is no television and although there is free wifi, you can elect not to use it. Nights are quiet and dark - apart from the odd passing car on the road from Elim, but this is not very noisy at all. The cottages are well set-up with very good facilities...

Hi AntSomersetWest Thanks so much for taking the time to review our Black Oystercatcher Cottages. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to get away from the city lights for a time. And thanks for the tip: it's been pretty cold in our part of the world, so a hot water bottle is never a bad idea. Kind...

What a lovely quaint setup. With a complimantary bottle of wine in the fridge. Spacious, stylish. Superb value for money and enough wood to keep the fire going the whole weekend! A must visit. Pity we arrived to late for a wine tasting. Keep it up!

This was to be a return visit to Black Oystercatcher restaurant so we thought we'd stay the night in one of their cottages. I hadn't reckoned on the restaurant being closed for dinners however we thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch at the restaurant. The cottages were simply furnished and everything worked ok but they could hardly be called luxurious. Again,...

These cottages are a divine escape from everyday life! We stayed here for a night on our way out east and really enjoyed ourselves. An old stable block ot similar that has been converted, it still maintains+ the original feel of the building. It felt like something out of Wuthering Heights, gorgeous old fire, slate floors, no TV, no distractions...

My husband and I stayed for two evenings mid-week and found it to be extremely relaxing and peaceful. The cottage is well-equipped, comfortable and a pleasure to stay in - irrespective of the weather. A complimentary bottle of wine from this boutique winery was well enjoyed. Plenty of wood for the outside braai as well as the inside wood burning...

My boyfriend and I visited these cottages in July and we had such an incredible stay. The setting was perfect to relax in and we were so happy with the indoor and outdoor fire places. The staff recommended lovely places to go birding and returning to the restaurant for wine tasting and lunch was just fantastic! I will definitely be...

We booked these cottages in winter, for a breakaway with my husband's parents. They live close by, in Pearly Beach, but we wanted to go somewhere special. These cottages were great, so cosy and in such a beautiful setting. They are simple, but practical and have all those little extras to make your stay just that much nicer. There were...

Amazing boutique wine farm with fantastic accommodation. Went with family and booked 2 rooms which were comfy and cosy, making for a perfect getaway for a winters night to make a fire and sip some wine. Had lunch at the restaurant on the farm which was unbelievably good! Also did some wine tasting and sampled some local craft beers all...
