The lodge is only about 15minutes outside Steelpoort and the cottages are set in lush green lawns. There is a huge swimming pool and a well equipped gym. The rooms are clean and spacious, the showers are good with large shower heads providing ample hot water. Food is good, beer is ice cold and there is a good selection of wine. Lots of antelope come to feed near the pool at Sun down time

If you need a place in the bush for a wedding for around 60 guests, Lapeng is the place. There is accommodation available for all your guests so no one needs to travel late at night after the function. Unfortunately the road from Steelpoort is very bad, so I would recommend travelling via Lydenburg, which is a beautiful scenic road. We stayed the whole weekend and Lapeng supplied all meals. The staff were very friendly, helpful and available. The rooms are well equipped and clean. There is a beautiful chapel for the formal ceremony and a lovely function hall. The food was great and on time, as was asked for.

Good day I had a lovely stay but the only negative I can mention is the service in your restaurant. First of all I ordered drinks that never arrived, secondly you have to order starter, mains and dessert at the same time. No starter arrived.Waited a long time for my food with other guest also complaining about the service and missing orders. I decided not to go for breakfast as it will take to long. Hope you can fix this. Regards

Staff not trained to service customers at the bar as well as the restaurant Terrible road to get there. No pre-warning when booking was done. No water in the room. Fairly expensive for what we got Food was served cold during dinner Breakfast - only got some of the selected food

Good day Mr Dirks I am very sorry to hear about your bad experience during your stay. I have investigated the CCTV footage on the night of your dinner and have found the Solomon, your waiter, was at your table at regular intervals throughout the evening. He is unaware that there were any problems with your dinner. If you addressed your complaint to him on the evening, we could have gladly replaced or refunded you for any meal that you were unhappy with. It is true that some of the staff are new and are still training, and we are disappointed that this is what led to a 1/5 review for the service. Regarding the road - this is a regional road and it's condition is something that is unfortunately out of our hands. This along with all the other roads in our area that are all in a state of decay. I assume the water you are referring to in your room is bottled water. We supply our own borehole water and we haven't had any water supply issues recently. Since we use borehole water, our tap water is also 100% safe to drink. I do apologize for any bad service you received during your stay. I will definitely take this up with the team and make sure there is urgent improvement where needed. Best regards

some things are missing. With various power interruptions a communal coffee serving area could be established to have some coffee and tea at night / morning. No bottled room. in room. No wine list. It seems for such a nice place these small things would make big difference.

The lodge was recommended by a colleague and, although it was a little further from where we were working than I would have liked, it was well worth the drive. The staff were outstanding and the service, faultless. I would confidently recommend the lodge to friends and family for future stays and will gladly stay over again if I am working in the area, even if it means I must spend a little extra time on the roads.

Facilities are good and accommodation comfortable but the water in the shower is less than that of the basins. Food from the Restaurant is also very poor compared with the price. The food we ordered was not available and the second option we opted for was really bad, cold and not properly prepared and also not received as ordered. Really not a 4 star rating.

Lapeng exceeded my expectations. Well done!! After so many bad stays in the area around steelpoort (not many to chose from) this place was the best! Really worth their 4 stars, and the drive out. Clean rooms, very cosy. With everything you need (except hairdrier). Food is great amd service is very friendly and accomodating.i would really recommend the deep fried nougat with ice cream dessert :)

From the time that you arrive, you experience excellent and friendly service. Rooms are beautiful and it is clear that the owners did take any shortcuts with the quality of the furniture, equipment and decor in the rooms and the lounge and garden. Had the best ever portuguese style chicken with zesty lemon sauce and that at a very reasonable price too. Will definitely go back again.
