The wide grassy valley in which the lodge is situated is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft Mountains with a view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west. In this exquisite position, the lodge offers stylish accommodation in thatched chalets which were designed with the fragile beauty of this remarkable environment in mind. Desert Homestead Lodge will ensure an unrivalled respite from the desert extremes. Tranquil surroundings, al fresco dining, delectably fresh farm cuisine, refreshing dips in the pool, stunning sunsets and sunrises are the basic pleasures at the lodge. And meandering across endless plains or discovering ancient water courses on a beautifully groomed steed is a magical and alternative way to appreciate the surroundings. The final remnants of each day see nature at her most profound. Rugged landscapes bathed in hues of pastel ... a truly humbling experience.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There was just us and one other couple in the whole resort so were very spoiled by the staff. Delicious food each day, good selection of wines and drinks. Our chalet was beautifully decorated with a huge bathroom, view from veranda was stunning, had an oryx literally 10 m from us one morning. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the trip to the dunes, we had Ziggy, great guide, full of enthusiasm and knowledge. The breakfast they provided was a huge selection and delicious...drinking champagne sat in front of the dune you have just climbed, awesome!

We really enjoyed our two night stay at this lodge while visiting the area and Sossusvlei. The bungalows are tastefully decorated with a large window offering a panorama towards the mountains.

You can take a short hike up the hill with the wonderful sunset views - that's what we did on the first day. There are also horseback rides and tours of Sossusvlei offered.

The food at the lodge was great with a lot of personal touch and attention. When the chef stopped by our table on the first night to inquire about the food, he asked us what would we like for the second night. My mom jokingly said, "Let's do BBQ". Lo and behold, the second night the BBQ grill was smoking hot, and we had a wonderful brai meal.

The staff is absolutely wonderful, always full of smiles. Would return in a heartbeat!

The entire property is well planned. Lots of common areas allowing for privacy. A separate pool for children and an adult-only pool area. A nice outdoor gin bar.

The cabins are spaced out. The walkway is behind so other guests are not walking in front of you. Each has its own patio. Good sized bathrooms that include toiletries and solar powered hot water. They provide coffee in the room (just ask for the water flask at dinner). Amazing views from the cabin while you lay in bed.

We did the happy hour and 1/2 day dune and canyon activity through the lodge. TK our guide was excellent. Knowledgeable and friendly.

Overall the staff was helpful and eager to make you happy. Good food and they did give you options if you did not want game meat.

We loved out stay at the Desert Homestead Lodge. The rooms and lodge are decorated beautifully and have all of the amenities you could need (AC, hair dryer, a nice hot shower, spacious bathroom, a stunning pool, etc.). We appreciated the little touches like the gin-tasting happy hour as well. The staff was amazing and was always there to help. There was a very high staff-to-guest ratio. We loved the meals as well, they had some of the better lodge meals we had during our trip in Namibia. I also recommend the sundowner horseback ride. Even if horseback riding isn't important to you, it takes you to a perfect sunset view. We took advantage of the hiking trails on the property as well.

Conveniently located just off the ‘main road’ this lodge offers surprisingly high standards of food, service and accommodation. Great areas around the pool to relax, and private views from the rooms. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to stay and the chalets were nicely set up.
We arrived early and had lunch before we were able to check into our chalets.
The chalets are set apart and all have wonderful views.
We met their adopted zebra "Spotty" during our visit when we were headed back to the lodge.
The guide for our sundowner and morning drive informed us about the area and the inhabitants.
We also drove from there to see the snd dunes and climbed dune 45 but looked at the dead forest rather than climbing Big Daddy.
The lodge packed us wonderful lunches and we had a great time.
We had an appetizer here that was in a crisp container and filled with seafood. I think it was the best thing we ate in all of Namibia.
This is a lovely place and we would love to return.

We had really a fantastic time at Homestead Lodge, nice reception, nice and professional staff, good food and Breakfast, all was good. We joined two activities, Sunset horse riding and Homestead Hiking Tour with Anselm a skilled and very nice guide (as well as restaurant and lodge staff! We enjoyed a lot our hiking tour starting at night climbing the mountain nearby and had a breakfast snack with sunrise! The Pool area and the bungalows are nice, the rooms could be a little bigger. Thank you for all!

We stayed for 2 nights at this lodge as we explored, Sossusvlei, Dune 45, Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon. The lodge is situated in a gorgeous valley which can be enjoyed sitting on your own decked area in front of your room. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with beautiful decor. The common areas are very welcoming including the 2 pools. Dinners were excellent, 3 courses and a large variety of drinks to select from. Breakfast was equally as good with a large selection, plentiful, including eggs, bacon etc cooked to your liking. As we were doing a self drive tour there is plenty of parking for your vehicle. Staff were amazing and extremely helpful. A 2 night stay we will never forget.

Thank you

We stayed here in September with our two children aged 20 and 18 and we all absolutely loved it. The bedrooms were nicely decorated and bed was very comfortable but the views were amazing. We could have sat there all day. The evening meals were lovely and the chef came out to chat to the guests after dinner which was a lovely touch. We did their guided tour to the dunes which was fantastic, guide was very knowledgable and good fun. We had a very nice lunch too.

Hi, Do you offer shorter horse rides than the overnight ones? Maybe 2-3 hours in length? Thanks

Yes this lodge took credit cards for your bill - and all activities can be added to the bill. We did use some cash for tips. We used cards in almost all the lodges with no problems. Apparently at petrol stations there have been issues with copying cards details, and we always paid for petrol in cash.
