On my road trip through Namibia I stayed on several campsites cheap and expensive. This campsite is very expensive, because it is situated inside the first gate of sossusvlei and you van enter the park before sunrise. Other campsites where you must pay a comparable price for your stay offer additional services, like good or even private ablutions, towels for the swimming pool, a good restaurant, free wifi. As you will suspect, non of this is the situation at this campsite. The staff is friendly and do there best, that's not the problem. If you don't need early access to sossusvlei avoid this site.

Our Campsite was under a nice big tree and very spacious. We picked one close to the ablutions which was cleaned on a regular basis.

The Campsite offers a restaurant. It was disappointing when they did not have everything on the menu in stock.

The staff at the gate was very unfriendly when needing to open the gate to go to the local shop and we were told "it's to much work to open the gate now."

Three times the price of most other campsites in namibia, staff lack service skills and the camp site is very basic. They are so lucky they are the only campsite in the park because the head start to the dunes is the only thing that makes it worth staying there. It could be so much better if they tried.

What a great experience ,every single tree has its own water tap, and power station to recharge your cellphone. not that you need any cellphone out there.we sleep under a tree with collective birds..and was just great to see how they operate

We spent two nights in Sesriem campsite. The location of the campsite is excellent, within the Namib national park, with wonderful overviews on the surroundings, and gemsbucks around the campsite
We have pitched our tent under a tree. The campsite is well equipped. The showers and the toilets are clean. There's a small shop and a restaurant. The staff is professional.
If you want to cool off, there's a swimming pool.
I highly recommend this comfortable campsite with excellent location!

Very busy but well organised camping within the nature reserve wivh allows you to come 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before the sunset from/to Dead Veil.
Hot shower is here. Bathroom facilities are fine.
Each place had a lamp and barbecue spot.
There's also a tiny shop and a restaurant.

Spent 2 nights camping in May 2021. Sites nice and big and most had a big shady tree. Ablutions were nice and clean with good hot water showers. Facilities were adequate - but the shop was very under stocked, I guess due to Covid and the lack of visitors. Best to make sure you have all the foodstuffs you need with you. Restaurant has a very limited menu, but what they do have is very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. It was really nice to be there at such a quiet time - getting a head start before the outside gates open in the morning to Dune 45, Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei is a great bonus. Really enjoyed our time there

We stayed at the campsite for two nights during March 2022. The location is excellent, the campsites basic, but with a large beautiful tree at each camp site.

However, as with most NWR sites, nothing is maintained. Bathrooms have broken shower heads and leaking taps, rubbish bins are overflowing and stink soo much, the roofs at the pool area were falling appart, the lawn was not mowed in years, and the sand dunes started taking over the place... Would be a wonderful place if staff could maintain it properly.

There are so many average reviews about this camp that I wanted to do it some justice. We found very nice and friendly people here. The camp slots are large, include water, a BBQ and some shadow. Bathrooms were clean, we always had hot water enough. True that it can be noisy early in the morning when campers pack to leave early to climb the dunes, and you can hear hyena and jackals near the camp at night. This is where the real fun is, and why we don't stay at home watching TV ;-)

Stopped off here for lunch as there are very few options in the area. Nice people and very impressive hall like restaurant/building but the food is average at best. Still better than going without on this long road though. May well be livelier in the season as we were there mid winter.

ask for camp sites overlooking Elim Dune - it's away from the noise and the ablution blocks are not too far - huge camel thorn trees. They have electrical points as well
