I must say = RESPECT.! 👍 For being located in the desert, totally isolated = this camp site needs much props. We stayed here over 31st December and 1st January. Loved it. Absolutely clean and quiet. Everyday the cleaners would do their jobs and we would return to find spotless site. Water nice and warm and ooh clean. I wish they was more shade the swimming pool for other campers yo hangout* .. But well worth it. And we also spotted a hairy hyena in the middle of the night nearby.

This camping is wonderful. Campsites are few and far between, so you get a lot of privacy. Each campsite has their own bathroom with shower and sink, as well as solar-powered electricity. During the night we had oryx, wildebeest, and bat-eared foxes walk around our campsite. The campsite is just across the street from the entrance gate of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, which is very convenient. Overall this was one of the best camping experiences I have ever had. Highly recommended!

The campsite is surrounded by mountains which makes for a beautiful view. Each campsite has their own bathroom and kitchen making camping really great. The staff is really helpful too. We realized only after the shop has closed that we need fire lighters and they came to our campsite to make sure we are okay even though it was after hours.

Fitstly, we travel alot and has encountered a few problems with our accomodation, but you will notable havr a fantastic stay at Sossus Oasis camp site. Minimalistic, clean and comfortable. On site an enclosed private toilet and warm solar shower and basin in bathroom. Outside paved undercover area has a sink with warm and cold water and alot of plugs for electricity supply. They clean the dustbins everyday and sweep te premises if you go out. We left our tent savely with all our belongings when we went out. Lekker braaier for each camp site. Lovely clean swimming pool and beautiful views. Service station is walking distance and has about everything you can think of. Close at 18h30 and ipens at 06h30. Best route from Windhoek would be the one passing the dumpsite and continuing through the gorgious Spreets Hoogte pass, to Solitaire and straigt to Sossusvlei. Sossusvlei gates are a few meters away from the campsite. Namibiers remember to take your ID along when paying for your entrance permit and buy alot of water at the entrance. No fluids to buy once you are in and then you continue with a normal 4 x2 bakkie up to the gathering point where a 4x4 will take you to the Dead vlei and Sossusvlei. They charge N$180 per person. Fun ride and you get to see the Oryx and other animals. Walk to Deadvlei is quite a walk trough the dessert and I suggest boots or tekkies and do it early in the morning. We were a bit unprepared but this is why I am rwriting the review to assist other travellers. We had a wonderfull time and remember to make enough time and not to miss the Sesriem Canyon at the entrance. It is stunning and a must must see!!

We spent two great nights here. We like our own privacy so loved the shade covering, en-suite bathrooms , wash up/kitchen facilities and braai with no need to go to a communal area. We also enjoyed a refreshing swim in the pool situated in the middle of all the campsites. We also liked the outlay of the campsite as all the campsites face to the outer side of the circle of campsites. Most of them with a great view of the desert. At first we were worried about the nearby road but it was not a problem. We focused on the view and our braai. The campsite is situated perfectly across the entrance leading to sossusvlei. There was just one hiccup but not the fault of the management of this campsite... pity the locals party it up until the early hours of the morning. The music was so loud we battled to sleep. The locals should bear in mind to keep noise down after 10pm. They need the income that tourists bring to the town of Sesriem.

One of the most comfortable desert campsites we have ever stayed at.

Firstly, each campsite parking has a huge space so you have that feeling of privacy.

Secondly, it has your private flush toilet just near the car and a shower, too. Comfy cooking area with a wash basin.

There’s a petrol station nearby, and the gate entrance to the national park is like 15 mins drive away. Super comfy for seeing sunrise in the dunes!

Cape fox came to visit us in the morning which was super cute :) we also spotted ostriches and oryxes around.

The only disadvantage (or maybe an advantage?) is that mobile connection does not work there but there is no free wifi even at the reception. you can only buy it for half an hour.

Arrived extremely late due to broken tyre, and a few wrong turns, but were greeted by a friendly guard who had stayed up late to let us in and show us to our campsite. Even better, the next morning the staff could help us get a new tyre fitted on the spot. The campsite is excellently positioned a few minutes from the entrance to Sossus Vlei. Well shaded camping area with private kitchen and bath room and hot water. A few scratches on the tent in the middle of the night by jackets just added value. Only downside is that our campsite was positioned just next to the main road and petrol station that was lit up throughout the night.

We camped two nights here with a group tour. The facilities are clean and very private. The pool was divine as it was very hot when we stayed. The petrol station just up the road is super convenient for drinks and snacks and ice.

Because it’s in the desert there isn’t a great deal of shade, but there were a few large trees in our camp area which were much appreciated.

The main accommodated lodge also run by Taleni is about a 15 minute walk and has a bar with WiFi and also a great restaurant for dinner.

This campsite is ok if you arrive in the evening or late afternoon and want to go to Sossusvlei the next morning. Each place has its own toilet and shower and is big enough, which is quite nice. But there is nothing else there, just a small pool with sun beds without overlays, so seriously only the hard metal frame and of course the service area. Half of the places are directly on the road, so it is loud and dusty. If you need to stay there, you should try to get the places 13 - 15, which are further back.

Dear Affenpiepmatz, Thank you for your feedback. Not sure what you expected more at the campsite? On all our communications and websites it shows that we provide a campsite with private ablution facilities and a pool in the middle of the campsites. Within walking distance is a shop and fuel station and even a restaurant at our nearby Sossusvlei Lodge that can be utilized. Looking forward to welcome you back. Best wishes, The Sossus Oasis Team

When we did our bookings Oasis was already full and we therefore booked the NWR campsite within the park. What happened - our car broke down, what followed was an amazing proof of hospitality of the owners of Oasis Campsite - they picked us up, did phonecalls, provided us with everything we needed, including a tent and mats as our camper was with the mechanic, everything was done very professionally and efficiently and at no cost, even though we were not even staying at their place!

We then stayed one additional night at the campsite, which is beautifully located and directly opposite the gate to the national park. The campsites were clean, well equipped, big trees for shade and lots of space, we really enjoyed the nice and relaxed atmosphere. The attached service station is also well equipped and provides everything travellers might need along their way, from ATM and fuel station to brotchens and icecream. Excellent place, great service, could not recommend it more!

Dear Gary, Thank you for the question. It would be advisable to rent a vehicle and do a self-drive to Sossusvlei as it is about a 5 hour drive and there isn't any public transport available to Sossusvlei. The other option is to take part in an organized tour from an operator in Windhoek. It is also advisable to book prior to arrival as the availability is very limited. Please contact our Taleni Africa reservations office for availability. Best wishes, The Taleni Africa Team
