We have just had three incredible days at this secluded lodge set in the ethereal Namibian desert and we loved every minute of it. We had our own spacious unit separated from the others and with sweeping views over the barren but beautiful landscape stretched out like a painting in front of us. We had our own plunge pool but it was cold when we were there. I imagine it would be very welcoming on a hot day.

Everything was set up for the comfort of the guest with one of the best beds I’ve slept in, a reverse cycle air conditioning unit to keep us warm and they even supplied hot water bottles! Great shower, good wifi and plenty of amenities.

It was a short walk to the main lodge where they served the most spectacular food and there was so much of it! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning tea, afternoon tea and always a welcome drink when we came back from an excursion. It was fine dining all the way with excellent service as well.

We were unable to go ballooning due to bad weather but we made up for that by quad biking, e-biking (fantastic in the middle of the desert) and a hike up to a cave to see ancient rock paintings. We also enjoyed our trip to the famous sand dunes despite the wind creating a sandstorm – it just added to the excitement even though visibility was not great.

But I have left the best until last – the staff! Oh my goodness they were WONDERFUL! So much care and attention to detail went into every aspect of our stay. Our guide Michael was amazing – so knowledgeable and passionate about the area. We learnt a huge amount from him and he was great fun. Our butler Kristof gave exceptional customer service. He pre-empted most of our requests and knew exactly how to make our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. Paul the astronomer was very interesting – a trip to the observatory to see the brilliant stars at night is highly recommended. Everyone - the General Manager Norman, Prinella, Wilhelmine, Hilma, Rachel, Emsie, our fabulous housekeeper Brigitte who took such pride in her work – they were all outstanding and should be so proud of what they did to make our stay so memorable and extraordinary. Thank you all for an unforgettable experience!

I spent three nights here at this gorgeous lodge. The artwork in the lobby is stunning and the sunsets and views across the desert are other-wordly. The highlight of the stay was the hot-air balloon ride which was included in our package at the time. Never have I had such a unique outing (and I've ridden in balloons before and thought, meh). But this was extraordinary, like drifting around Mars at sunset. The lodge itself is glamorous and gorgeous, though activities are a bit limited. The biking was too advanced for me -- an experienced biking friend went and said it was quite difficult. Game viewing is not like gaming in South Africa, but really you come here for the peace and unbelievable setting. (And there's a very well stocked gift shop with unique jewelry and homewares. Just a nice little bonus at the end of the trip)
