So glad we found this place. Out two nights at Little Sossus were very special, for many reasons. Hosts Darlene and Polla were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, from providing for our every need from the very well stocked shop to free wi-fi on the verandah and — wonder of wonders — fresh vegetables from their own garden. The campsites each have their own donkey-fired, electrified ablutions/scullery and covered parking (even accommodating our 2,8m-high camper). The views across the valley were awesome, the two waterholes in front of the campsites attracted oryx and springbok at dusk, and there’s a swimming pool! Darlene and Polla are new hosts at the campsite (the lodge across the road is still under reconstruction right now) have put terrific effort into restoring the place after devastating floods earlier in the year, so it’s just going to get better still. Perfect place from which to visit Sossusvlei, the entrance to which is 30km away over good road. Heed the hosts’ advice about visiting, then you won’t struggle to Deadvlei in the afternoon heat like we did :)

We stayed two nights at Little Sossus Lodge as a base for visiting Sossusvlei and the dunes at Namib-Naukluft National Park. Accommodation inside the park is expensive so this is one very good option although there is enough driving distance until the entrance to the Park. It's not just a value for money but also a beautiful place. Our main issue was the wi-fi that was constantly not working almost in all our stay there. Only the second night we had connection. Our room was nice and cozy. Lodge staff was taking care each cabin so we had warm water for shower. Mosquitos was a bit of a problem every night so keep your room door always closed and unfold the bed nets before the night falls if you are staying here. Even so, we had to "battle" every night with the mosquitos. Despite this we had a good sleep. Dinner was included and it was delicious. Breakfast is very basic, on the limited side I would say. There is a small swimming pool but especially the first day it was full of people. There is enough space though to sit by and relax. The Lodge has a caracal as a pet, that they grew up since it was little, so it is very friendly and calm. It's like the mascot of the place. Don't be scared if you notice it walking around you. The surroundings are beautiful and we enjoyed both afternoons sitting outside our room staring the fields, while sunlight was turning gold! Sunsets at this place are amazing like everywhere in this blessed by nature country!

This must be the best lodge to stay in, in an area with a lot of choice. The owner was so friendly and helpful, putting a huge effort into renewing the place after covid - new buildings, lots of new planting to bring green and shade. The dinner was fantastic, and the rooms lovely if a bit hot (because they are built of stone - a ceiling fan might be a good idea).

We decided to spoil ourselves and go to a nice lodge in the desert. We sadly chose Klein Sossusvlei. At R4000 per night. We were on a long trip and after a month of travelling looked forward to relaxing next to their pool.
We got there and the place looked pretty bleak.
It was in The process of being upgraded. But was incomplete. The owners kept telling us how amazing it was going to be. Well we were paying prices for a five star place which was two star. Not really interested in how it would be. The bathroom boiler was switched on once. The following day they didn’t even bother to switch on. The bedroom was clean but no supplies of water shampoo soap etc. one little bottle of hand wash. Next to the beds were some bathroom mats. A completely inflated price. When we complained about. the owner halved the price which was still high for what we got. She said she thought we were not from an African country. So she charged for overseas visitors. I found this rather cheeky.
Food was fairly good. Could not use the pool as there were about 8 construction workers mixing concrete around the pool.

Response from Little Sossus Lodge LODGE, Owner at Little Sossus Lodge
Responded 17 Mar 2022
Dear Thea, This is really a very disappointing and unreasonable feedback. Firstly we have no control over the platforms you choose to book and rates you agree to. Secondly when I truly discovered your residency I good hearted offered you our SADC rates. I did not charge you oversea rates, you booked through booking.com. On your arrival I did inform you that we are renovating the lodge but that we will at all times respect your privacy. Also that if you are not happy with this I will gladly advise another lodge or even our other lodge Tsauchab. You preferred to stay on and all builders where given off when you where at the pool or at lodge. Always such a huge disappointment that when guest have complaints you only read about it a week after their stay rather during their stay to ensure you have done all you can to ensure their time in Namibia does not end up in this.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay after a rainy/dreary day in Sossusvlei. The cottage had a heater that warmed up the whole room (which would also work great as airconditioning any other day), hot water bottles, extra blankets, and a hot shower. Staff was incredibly welcoming, as were their cats.

The only thing they could improve on is their vegetarian food. More than just a few extra veggies are needed after a full day of hiking dunes in the drizzle! Hopefully they'll find

The campsites were nice and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel right at home. They had a great selection of homemade canned goods. They gave us great tips on surrounding activities in addition to exploring the park. We were very pleased staying our first few nights in Namibia and wish we could have stayed longer.

A very nice lodge which was a fair but ok distance from Sesriem. It has a waterhole with zebra, oryx and wildebeest. Staff are very good and attentive.

The hot water can be intermittent, however and the food, whilst homecooked and perfectly adequate was somewhat underwhelming - except for breakfast which was very good.

Our family stayed in both the camp site and the lodge and both were wonderful. The scenery is gorgeous and it is a great base to explore soussevlei and the surrounding area. Food is exceptional though the wifi never really worked while we visited.

Absolutely LOVED this place!! We camped at Little Sossus. For us, the location was outstanding. Such stunning views and real feel of being 'remote' but with hot showers, a lovely pool etc. Perfect basic amenities and very very helpful staff. It is 35-40 minutes to Seriem but I think that is part of what makes it special. It isn't too busy, you really do feel private. The oryx wandering between waterholes just beyond our site was charming.

Very good, clean campsites with attached building for showers, cooking, etc. Also, your vehicle is covered by a garage like roof. Owned by a friendly & helpful couple & with a useful shop. Good views of the surrounding countryside & near sesriem.

Hi Walter The best would be to contact them, in December 2015 we paid N$300 for a camping site, the camping site is stunning! Own bathroom and cooking facilities. Haven't been to the rooms and I don't know if they got any. I would camp there again when I do have the chance. Enjoy the Put Foot Rally - also on my bucket-list! Groete Georg Anderson
