I had spent some weeks traveling in the Andes, and decided to go to Mancora to end my Peru trip as I was craving the ocean and a place to decompress. Based on reviews I chose Kichic as it also looked like a very relaxing and beautiful location. I can not express how much I enjoyed my stay here, but it was enough for me to extend my stay an extra week. Every detail of this place is perfect aesthetically and the food was healthy and delicious. The hostess Tamita went above and beyond to make my stay very comfortable and enjoyable, and was always being of service even through great conversations. I also did Yoga, and some of the massages they offer at the spa and it was all just perfect. The views of the pacific from all areas of the resort were breathtaking, and the gorgeous beach was great to walk along or go for a dip to rinse from the day. The entire staff were amazingly helpful and attentive. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Incredible flavors, vast menu of Peruvian dishes, seafood dishes and vegetarian options. All this in a gorgeous courtyard that overlooks the ocean. The ambience is really wonderful. We were told that yoga classes happen in the area next to the dining, but the dining tables are all over! Truly a wonderful experience.
Although the prices are much higher than the norm for the area. A Pisco Sour is $10. Our Causa was $13.
Also, unlike other restaurants in the area, they charge a 10% tax. So keep that in mind.

Kichic is worth every penny. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is it. The owner designed every detail very well. We spent a few adventurous weeks in Peru and ended here to relax by the beach and loved it. Tamy is the manager and does a great job of taking care of the guests. They give you walkie talkies and let you decide if you want to interact or if you want to keep to yourself.
The town of Mancora is about an hour walk by the beach and has some decent beach bar spots including Tallan Restobar and Selina.

The location is simply amazing - probably one of the most beautiful in Peru.

However, there are several negative areas:
- the restaurant staff is very slow, all orders take ages to be fulfilled.
- the food portions are tiny: don't expect to be even close to satisfied after the breakfast.

Food wise, everything is extremely overpriced for what you get and again, all portions are really small which is far from normal in Peru.

There are also yoga clases available for 50 soles . Amazing location too but be mindful that they basically double the price in two years...

Overall, great facilities, but terrible food standards and prices.

In their page it’s written that Ki means vital energy, in Kichic means very bad vital energy.
We are those lucky guys in the world that had travelled almost all over the world, we prefer small than big hotels, but in Kichic it was total disappointment. I prefer to say well than bad comments, but this can help others who could be enchanted by the pics, as we were. The beach is not bad, the food is great, the staff is very kind (like almost people in Peru) specially Wember (sorry don’t remember if the name is correct), but the worst is the manager, Mariel…She’s not at all polite, probably doesn’t have world and has no idea our to receive guests “at home”. Although is much more expensive than it deserves ( the house needs many repairs already), could be recommended if was not the terrible energy. Sorry, but as long as guests are received in this house by Mariel, we cannot recommend to our friends in Portugal nor to those elsewhere in the world.

The property is stunning and our suite was absolutely perfect for a relaxing getaway on the beach. We ate every meal at the outstanding on-site restaurant where we also had ceviche and pisco sour-making classes. Thank you to the Kichic staff, especially Gesus, Sergio, and Wilmer, for the most amazing stay!

We stayed in a nearby hotel but visited Kichic on many occasions for lunch and dinner. The food we had was exceptional, from lentil salad, crunchy veggie wrap, oriental fish dish, Thai tuna and beef burger (one of the best my husband has ever had!) The freshness of ingredients and how the food was prepared and presented was amazing. Drinks at Kichic were also great. Everything was more expensive than others locally but you pay for what you get! The staff were also so friendly and welcoming. If you like your good and drink don’t miss Kichic.

After a long journey, the bumpy road, too long a wait at the gate (it wasn’t that long), having read a couple of recent reviews I was ready to be disappointed.
Boy was I disappointed.
Marielle runs an exceptional place, in an exceptional spot with an exceptional team. If you can leave your privilege at the gate, forget your watch and treat yourself…you are in for a treat.
Enjoy an amazing spot, simple comfort, space like you are the only guests…but you aren’t, beautiful breakfast, best cocktails for many miles, brilliant (order four hours in advance) steak dinner, lovely ladies who tidy after you and hospitality given eye to eye.
Unusually good.
It’s a straight 10.

I have been to Peru several times, usually for super active explorations (ancient ruins, high altitude treks/biking, Amazon, Colca Canyon, etc), but this time I felt I really needed a more mellow seaside experience of Peruvian culture. It is a culture that is arguably one of Latin America's most extraordinary - a huge part of the reason why I go back...and back...and back (more so than Argentina and Chile and Mexico, much as I love returning to those too!).

KiCHIC is ridiculously special. It is also not for everyone.

If you are turned on by off-the-beaten-path authentically luxurious experiences, seaside yoga, garden-(that is a few feet away, I might add)-to-table dining and open to trekking into somewhat uncomfortable (in terms of dirt roads and an extra flight) territory, then KiCHIC is most definitely for you. If you are an "always" Four Seasons type of guest, this probably isn't your place (opt for Arennas right next door - not very interesting in my most humble but style and experience driven opinion), but if you are someone who likes Four Seasons sometimes, but at other times likes something a little more authentic and interesting, this is definitely for you. Villas del Mar is also an interesting alternative, but for the more masculine boutique hotel experience if you understand what I mean.

KiCHIC is magic. There are some minor "issues" that could potentially be problematic for high maintenance luxury travelers, but for those who appreciate hidden gems off the beaten path, this is one of the world's best.

All rooms now have TVs, but they are wrapped in natural cloth "condoms" (as the owner says) so that they seamlessly blend into the space, and use is gracefully discouraged. This is a place where you will want to wake up early, go for a long walk on the beach and/or go to morning yoga, come back for avocado toast (or whatever your favorite plant or egg based breakfast might be), have a healing spa treatment overlooking the sea, perhaps an afternoon tea - or pisco sour, a good book, another long walk...a dip in the waves...maybe evening "yin" yoga (there is a massive open air yoga pavilion with classes 2x daily, and more advanced yogis are invited to go roll out anytime for self practice)...and just breathe it all in...quietly.

The only thing that really bugged me on my last stay was the noise from cars going over a wooden bridge near the first room I was in (Neem), so you might want to keep that in mind; I also stayed in Piedra and Himalaya. Each very special in its own way.

I still fantasize about the zucchini carpaccio and the freshness of the rest of the menu. This is the way food is supposed to be prepared and consumed. There is also usually a weekend movie night that draws a nice local crowd too with thin crust pizzas and a big screen on the beach (in English with Spanish subtitles). Nice change of pace/local scene.

Also some of the best body work I've ever had: i.e. deep tissue massage and reflexology combination, chakra aligning with the local shaman - but be careful of getting the "actual" deep tissue massage, as that therapist seriously redefines 'deep tissue' and it's...not for everyone. The staff was/is my favorite part about the KiCHIC experience though. If you go, please give my love and big hugs to Sergio and Helga...

Kichic looks a great place and I was really excited about staying here. The resort is really nice and has a special feel about it and the staff are amazing. The food served was awesome and the Tuna was stunning.
Beach is beautiful but you have to be so careful swimming due to the rocks. We weren't warned when we arrived but had swimming shoes and had experience at another hotel and there are rocks everywhere outside the hotel so use shoes.
We stayed in Piedra which is a garden view room and the room is stunning inside with a lovely bath outside. The design looks beautiful.
The reason why I only give the resort 3 stars is the sadly the room😫 it was horrible to sleep in. It has light coming in from the courtyard at night and the air-conditioning is a shocker. I had it on sleep mode but it's so noisy. I tried turning it off but you can't here the ocean just road noise and other staff and guests. I really hated it and slept terribly both nights and was so happy to be leaving as couldn't spend another night there. It is such a shame as our previous hotel we slept with the sound of the waves.
If you go spend the extra and have a room on the beach
The design of the hotel looks stunning but as I found out it doesn't work

Does each room have a bathroom or is it a community bath?
Answer from Jan V

You enter the main entrance of the hotel by the road, so you have road - hotel - beach. The hotel is located on the beach, so you enter the beach by the hotel. From your room to the beach is 20 meter. They placed a rack in the hotel at the entrance of the beach where you can store 4 surfboards. If you want, I can send you some pictures: mail me at jan@groepvanhaute.be From the entrance of the beach to the water is 30-40 meter I think. If you want more info: just ask ! Jan.
