The lodge is situation very much in the village, but there is a lovely private lawn and swimming pool to relax in with a great view of Lake Malawi. I think within the...More
I'm an independent traveler who stayed 8 days on this property -- a bit longer than usual -- and found it to hands-down be the best lodge in town. The owner went out of his way to make it a pleasant stay for me, the...More
This place has an excellent lakeside location, but allows the visitor to get an excellent perspective of village life without even leaving the lodge, if so desired. The food was excellent and the service outstanding- Alan has built a highly skilled team with a strong...More

Mgoza Lodge has stunning views of the lake from a nicely landscaped beachfront with a pool, loungers, and hammocks. We stayed in a cottage, which was clean, comfortable, and had a large bed. The hotel's food is very good, especially the pancakes at breakfast. However,...More

Allt he rooms we saw were double rooms in thatched huts, they put in a camp bed for our friend's little boy. The rooms are basic in style, they are thatched huts rather than rooms in a large buildings. The bed is large and very comfortable, the mosquito nets are in good repair, the shower and the plumbing work fine, power is a bit unreliable (that's malawi, not the lodge) and lighting is very low. Furnishings are basic, there's no mini bar, no safe, no carpets, and shelves rather than wardrobe or chest of drawers. But there was plenty of space in our room, the setting is glorious, we loved it and we'd go again.
