We have now stopped over at the Krone for the second time in the lead up to Christmas on our way further south.
It's a great example of a friendly warm comfortable gemutlich Germany hotel. Family who own the hotel are very welcoming and the breakfast and dinner are excellent. if you are there towards christmas try the Ganse Menu (goose menu). Top tip Skip lunch beforehand and you'll be ready for the challenge ahead.
next visit we plan to spend longer there. The area aorund the Odenwald is a great mix of lovely countryside, interesting little towns and of course the River Main.

This is a real find hidden away about an hour's drive from Frankfurt. If you're looking for a typical local family run German hotel then this place has to be considered. It has charm, ol' fashion charisma and a genuine nice feel to it.

I stayed at the Romantik on business so comfort and cleanliness along with a work station to use the laptop was a must. Checking in was a very casual honest affair. The hotel knew who I was, asked if I have stayed before whereby promptly taking me to my room, showing me where everything was and checking I was happy before being left alone.

The room was a double with a nice clean bathroom, shower gels etc included, and TV along with free internet. It was warm (2 double radiators) and ample room to move around. There was a mini bar - not auto-bill, and enough space to put your own beverages in too. A double hob if you fancied cooking too. In fact I suppose it was a mini kitchen!

The restaurant was nice, clean and well laid out. I was given an English menu as previous reviewers had also had. Food quality was excellent with the acid test being rump steak cooked to perfection. Try the local beer if you can or wine (by the glass) which came in a glass goblet, enough for two or three to share.

Breakfast the following morning was in a separate restaurant to the previous evening's meal. A typical continental spread, cheeses, fruits, cereals and juice all very neatly arranged. Care had gone into the presentation. Fresh bread rolls on the table were joined by a large platter of meats. If that wasn't enough the chef asked if I would like a cooked breakfast, eggs and bacon.

And onto the check-out: again an easy simple affair. UK hotels could learn a lot from one night's stay here.

The only two negative points which stop me giving this 5 out of 5: couldn't access the internet even with the WAP keys they give you and the only English speaking TV channel (CNN) wasn't tuned in and couldn't be tuned. Not that I need SKY or BBC but it would have been nice.

Not the cheapest in the area but would stay here again.

As a one night stop en route to Bavaria and Austria, you couldn't find a better hotel. Not cheap by UK standards but the warm welcome and the quite excellent food is well worth the price. Located in the village main street with it's own private car park the Zur Krone oozes character. We accepted the recommendation of the lady of the house, (whose English is very good), on what we should eat for dinner and we were not disappointed. For a small hotel the breakfast buffet was extensive and mein host (the chef) suggested scrambled eggs and bacon which he cooked to perfection. Take my advice and splash out on a night at this delightful hotel.

This was my second stay here on business given the location needed for the business trip, is ideally suited.

The hotel is family run and under the present owners, has been for over forty years! Check-in is a casual but professional affair.

Food is prepared by the husband of the partnership and is very good.

It's almost like being in your parents' home being attended to with your every need.

A particular talking point are the pets that seem to have been adopted over the years. There's a black cat with more than nine lives, who squares up to the Jack Russell dog at meal time. Then there's the turtle who is so small he goes round with an inflated balloon strapped on his back so he can be easily found. You couldn't make it up.

Idyllic and quaint and extremely well priced.

Rooms clean and more than enough accessories than you will need to ask for.

Definitely stay here again when in the area.

About 45 minutes from Frankfurt International.

Stayed here 3 days on a tour through the area in late September, 2013. The owner/person checking us in was very accommodating and helped us out more than I would have ever expected in any country. I wish I remembered her name as I would have liked to thank her personally in writing after I returned home. The kindness of the people is exceptional.even though the language barriers sometimes interfered. We had a great tour director who could navigate that particular issue with us so it did not create problems. What a beautiful place to visit!

We stopped here for only one night (sadly) after a long haul flight from NZ. It was a genuine oasis. We were greeted warmly and it was a lovely introduction to German hospitality. Dinner in the restaurant was superb and although no menus in English the owner took time to explain and translate. Breakfast in the morning was nothing short of sensational - extensive and beautifully presented. The hotel itself was quiet and elegant - although we were travelling as a family it would make a wonderful retreat for a couple. Highly recommended - we will stay again if we are passing that way.

Zur Krone is an outstanding, family operated hotel that reflects pride of ownership and service to guests. Our double room was actually a large suite with separate setting areas and a kitchenette. It had everything we might want in a spotless, comfortable setting.
The breakfast is a feast, with both cooked to order bacon & eggs table service and a large buffet. The Breitenbach family will not let you leave hungry!
We just wished we could stay longer---but are looking forward to our return.

This is a very comfortable hotel with pretty gardens, easy parking and a wonderful restaurant. The room are individual and spacious, the lift make getting luggage about far easier, but for us the high point is the food! Getting hungry just remembering. I won't go into detail but the cocos soup is heaven.

I put this review on another hotel then realised it was in the wrong region!

Booked this hotel after scouring TripAdvisor. From the moment we arrived we were very pleased. The private car park around the back. The greeting from the elegant owner and then shown to our room using the lift to transport our luggage upstairs. We had a very comfortable bedroom, lounge/dining/ kitchen and bathroom. Lots of hot water. Dinner not available on Tuesday so we only ate there the 2nd night. I had informed then I was gluten and dairy intolerant and they provided me with alternative menu. The dinner was very good eating outside as the weather allowed. The breakfasts were SUPERB. Every fruit, cheese, cold meat you could think of hot eggs bacon and sausage cooked to order, yogurts cereals pastries and breads. For me they had gone above and beyond what I could have expected getting in muesli cheeses butter breads muffins yogurts I could not eat all they had gotten in if I had stayed a week! I also enjoyed the pepper/tuna/caper. I cannot praise this hotel and the owners highly enough and would definitely love to stay again. Thank you to them and also to TripAdvisor reviewers whos reviews helped my decision to stay there. There is a church with bells nearby but it did not disturb through the night and I am a light sleeper and had the windows open but you would hear the 7am and 7 pm chimes. It had free WiFi. I think it has 15 double rooms. PERFECT stay!

This was our last night on our Bavarian Roadtrip. The owners of the hotels are very passionate about service and good food. The room was very nice, we had an apartment on the top floor, clean and with outstanding beds.
The Breakfast, yes with a capital B, was very well assorted and gave us a super start of the day.
Thank you for staying here.
