Lovely resort, with lots of activities on-site and close by. The canoeing on the dam was a highlight with many species of birds to photograph. Games room could be upgraded with more options for cold days. Housekeepers were very thorough in their cleaning and all was well maintained. We loved our stay and would definitely go back.

There are 12 timeshare chalets in the Drakensberg Sun complex. They are separate from the hotel in a wooded area and are self catering units. The units have a wonderful setting facing the mountains with large trees inbetween the chalets holding lots of bird life. Our unit can accommodate 8 visitors in two bedrooms, a loft and the lounge. The units have two bathrooms and a kitchen and dining room, and a magnificent balcony with a table and a braai fireplace so that you can eat level with the top of the trees. The units are fully serviced by the cleaning staff. We ate at the hotel on one night and braaied for ourselves on others. You have to be prepared to climb a lot of stairs if you want to stay in these units as they are on the side of a hill and our unit has five different floor levels. ad a wonderful stay.

Been to this hotel many many times. The hotel feels cosy and comfortable but quite dated. Very little has changed over the last 20 years. The hotel could do with some upgrades. Good quality food and staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. We stayed 4 nights and didn’t feel that the service slipped. At checkout, were overcharged for dinner which was already included in the room rate. It took quite a long time for the manager to refund the payment. Despite a few issues all was good. We always feel very at home at Drakensberg Sun.

Dear Mandy, Thank you so much for your review. We are very happy to hear that you still consider us as a home away from home and come to visit often. We fully agree that the hotel is aging. We are in the process of getting it upgraded, but unfortunately can only do so in stages. We have already done quite a few apartments and chalets this year and will continue with the rest of them, the hotel rooms and reception area next year. I also apologise for the overcharge upon check out. I am glad to hear that it was sorted out eventually. Thank you Mandy and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Regards, Theo

We had a wonderful stay (with a party of 21!) from 7 July 2023 to 10 July 2023. From the booking stage - right up until check out - the utmost care was afforded to us, especially appreciated given the fact that we were travelling with an 89 year old granny with mobility restrictions. From booking stage, Fezeka was exceptionally helpful and efficient. Prior arrangements were made to accommodate granny in the best way possible and this was sincerely appreciated. The patience and efficiency of Lindiwe and the Executive Chef in organising the seating in the dining room for such a large party was above and beyond. Drakensberg Sun Resort has a nostalgic spot in my family's heart as we have been staying here for decades - and compliments must be given to the General Manager Pranesh, for ensuring that the service and experience was of such a high level. My only recommendations would be to ensure that the geysers are looked at - as many guests had lukewarm showers. I understand that there are "peak" times where the hot water supply may be put under strain, but a premium resort should consider this as the winters are bitterly cold. Also, while the taste and quality of the breakfast and dinner buffets were great, the variety of options (especially for vegetarians) has drastically reduced since out last visit in 2019. All in all a great stay - and we will definitely be back again.

Popped in with my wife and disabled child for a quick drink while our other son completed a horse ride nearby. Your brand and market reputation is carried by the people that engage your clients. That is your moment of truth. The security were abrupt and rude, “no day visitors, we are full today”. It’s the classic story of it’s never the what that gets you into trouble, it’s the how. Why does a hotel, whose very livelihood depends on that, not get it. I would have been happy to stand and have a refreshment for 30 minutes, but was sent sailing from a resort that I have stayed at several times over the years. Well done, at least you will never have to turn me away again, you will never see me again. If that is your approach, rather display a sign day visitors not welcome.

The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and big. We did not like the shared terrace as other people can walk in front of your room. Service was rather poor and non attentive. Staff at both restaurant and reception are not interested. Dinner buffet was ok and breakfast was good. The hotel could do with a refurb and upgrade as the whole place is rather tired. Location is great as are the views. There are different stunning walks leaving from the hotel.

Dear Katrijn_Jeroen Thank you very much for your review of your recent stay at our hotel. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. At the outset I want to apologize for the experience you had. This was certainly not in keeping with the intended experience we planned to deliver. I want to assure you that the matter has been taken up with the respective departments and appropriately dealt with so that we do not have a recurrence of this. I also take note of your comments on the age of the furnishings and I am happy to report that this will be receiving much needed attention in the not so distant future. I am glad you loved the setting of the resort and the Hikes we have to offer. Would love to see you back at the resort. Till next time

Spent 4 nights at the Drak Sun Resort with extended family including kids and teens. The resort is peaceful and serene, and the fresh air - simply recharging. The nature trails are amongst the best in the Berg. The resort has both hotel and self-catering options. The hotel rooms are dated and could definitely do with a renovation, but the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The facilities at the hotel are great and caters for young kids (kids activities at the pool, playroom, outdoor play area) and teens (pool, tennis, canoeing, horse riding). The resort is expansive so whilst the hotel was almost fully booked, we did not feel crowded. The staff at the resort are absolutely awesome. They are friendly, helpful and always smiling. We especially appreciated the attentive service provided in the restaurant by the chefs, waiters and other staff. Chefs Warren, Sunnyboy, Lucky, Nomfundo and Saiyabonga went out of their way to ensure that there was plenty of vegetarian options on the buffet menu for breakfast and dinner. The eggless scones and chocolate pudding was some of the best I've tasted! The resort is centrally located and is close to other activities in the Berg. The hotel has a generator which meant our vacation was not interrupted by load shedding.

Dear Delaine What an amazing review But I am afraid I cannot claim this wonderful review as I think you meant to review another property down range with a similar name to ours. Nevertheless its an awesome review and I do sincerely hope that you will some day soon experience our beautiful resort as well. We offer very similar amenities and much more like canoeing on our very onw lake, horse riding and Ziplining. I do hope to see you at our resort. Warm Regards Pranesh
