It was not the best weather when we left Durban on Monday 28th September but as soon as we passed Estcourt we were greeted by the best holiday weather. Our arrival at resort was a real pleasure with the friendly reception desk staff and also the porters whom did not even squeel with our house full of items. The facilities were excellent and the sce even more incredible. Apartments was very nice and very comfortable and perfect.

We have done the canoes the braai and the zip lining. Horse rides are a bit expensive and we are still trying to negotiable for scholars.

Will be back here again soon.

The entertainment guy Roger's has been superb

Stayed one night with my wife and 4yo
We were to experience the mountains, and felt that this hotel would be an ideal place to visit them. However the day we were there, it was raining so we decided to drive back earlier to Johannesburg instead.

The room we were given was on the 4th floor, but as there are no lifts, you have to walk up the stairs. Luggage was handled by the hotel staff.

The room itself looked quite tired and old. There were flies flying around. In the morning, a monkey came into our room as we had forgotten to close the glass door to the balcony.

Dinner was the best i had, the spread was good and the taste was amazing.

Hotel Room: 3 Stars (Big room but plagued with flies and old and tired furnishings)
Room View: 5 Stars (Nice view of the mountains)
Service of Staff: 5 Stars (Helpful with the luggage and provided us with umbrellas when it was raining)
Lounges/Restaurants: 5 Stars (Limited spread, taste average)
Room Service: 4 Stars (Good spread and nice taste)
Location: 4 Stars (Near the mountains)

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate your detailed feedback and are glad to hear that you enjoyed certain aspects of your stay. We're delighted that you found our dinner to be the best you had in South Africa. Our culinary team works hard to provide a memorable dining experience, and it's wonderful to know that their efforts stood out to you. We apologize for the condition of your room and the inconvenience caused by the flies and the unexpected visit from a monkey. We are continuously working on improving our facilities and will take your comments seriously to enhance the comfort and cleanliness of our rooms. It's great to hear that you appreciated the beautiful view of the mountains from your room and that our staff was helpful and attentive during your stay. Providing excellent service is a top priority for us, and we're pleased that you felt well taken care of. We regret that the weather did not allow you to fully experience the mountains, but we hope you might consider visiting us again to explore the area further under better conditions. Thank you once again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you and your family back in the future for a more complete and satisfying stay. Best regards, Pranesh

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel gardens are beautiful and a lovely location. The food was good with a nice selection.
However I would like to mention that this hotel is not well suited for those who are disabled or have mobility problems. Especially the timeshare chalets.
Although we were told that an attempt would be made to make a change to our booking before we arrived, on arrival we were told that they could not assist us.
The "top row" of chalets can only be accessed by climbing many stairs up or down. This was made even more treacherous since during our stay it rained a lot and the stairs became very slippery. Some of the Chalets in the "lower row" seemed to have less stairs leading to them.
The chalets also have three different levels, so inside the chalet there are quite a few stairs as well.
To get to the main building/hotel from the chalets you have to go quite a long way around on the road. So although we planned to have all our meals in the restaurant this became a big inconvenience and rather dangerous because of the risk of injury.
So unless you are able to book into the Apartments inside the hotel, I would discourage anyone who have problems with climbing stairs from booking into the chalets.

The fifth of our accommodations on this 21 night tour of Kwa Zula Natal. What a fantastic location in the Drakensberg’s.
A large company owned hotel in a remote rural location. Not a bad experience but probably the least favorite on this trip.
Reception not very professional and appeared inexperienced.
Room we had was large with a door on to the garden, it was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom modern and shower water pressure great. Criticisms, firstly one of the bed side sockets didn’t work and when reported on the first evening it was not fixed during our 3 night stay. Secondly and I am not sure if this is a South African thing but there were no luggage racks which I find surprising for a large company owned hotel. Thirdly Internet was awful not only in the rooms but in the public areas and to have to pay for it over a certain level of usage in this day and age I think is not on.
For a hotel that is on at least 3 levels I find it strange there is no lift so luggage has to be carried up and down stairs by either the porters or yourself.
The restaurant offers both a buffet breakfast and dinner operation. The food selection was good and varied and staff were helpful and friendly.
The grounds are extensive and facilities of pool, lake add to the resort feel, there are some great walks including a guided bird watching walk available. Also a good location for touring the Drakensberg’s, we visited The Monks Cowl National park area about 20 minutes drive away.

This hotel is exceptional in the way that they all make sure you are well looked after, regardless of rain or sun. They are well suited to families in the way their amenities and activities are tailored to all ages. The food is very good and does not feel like standard buffet food. All the staff are welcoming, helpful and always available. The pools, hiking trails, games room, fire places, lake and kids jungle gym means that there is always something to do. Their covid protocols are very good and you always feel safe. Thank you very much for a wonderful rest, Rukayya Naicker & family.

Low lights
Reasonable value for money.. No free Wi-Fi? Always On just does not work
Drinks are expensive and dinner for a kid of 15 years is bit pricey R295.00. I say this because my child is a fussy eater so if he eats from buffet then it will spaghetti and cheese sauce. They also have a set menu which is reasonable. They can at least have undercover parking as it was hailing when we stayed there
Highlights of the stay
Being our first time breakfast and dinner was included for adults which was nice dinner buffet never disappointed there’s was always something nice to eat .To note tea is free at dinner only found out on the last day of departure.
Boat cruise on the lake was nice and the hike but remember if you taking your kids with on the hike watch them like the guide just walks on so for example there’s place with rocks to walk and rope to hold to get over you need to help your kids and there’s areas you need to be careful.
Nice view from room although the room we had was quite a far walk to everything.Swimming pool nice with area where you can order drinks and light meals.

We just returned from this great resort, we arrived a day late due to a delay at home, the check in was easy and quick, we stayed in C2006 which was very comfortable and spacious with a loft with 2 beds in case you need extra space.
We ate at the restaurant buffet once and the food was very good with plenty variety.
The grounds are well kept and very scenic, we didn't do to many activities due to the rain but enjoyed all the shops and coffee shops in the area.
We would stay there again in the future.

We spent three nights at the chalets and was once again under the impression of this resort's ideal setting with magnificent views of Champagne Castle. The unit is spacious, well equipped and clean. The large trees among the chalets contributes to privacy and enjoyment of the abundant bird life. The location is central to all activities in the area, but also allow for retreat to peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings.

A la carte menu could have more variety
Grounds in good condition
Good service from room to restaurant by golf cart
Golf course needs to be better maintained.
Staff very helpful
Quiz night time needs to be reviewed. 8 pm is neither before or after dinner thus low turnout
