The location of the hotel is perfect. Many happy hours were spent on organised hikes or just ambling on the paths on our own and enjoying the stunning views. We went on a helicopter flip which was an amazing experience. The rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. In general the environment was quiet and peaceful with the staff going about their duties unobtrusively. The meals were excellent with so much variety on offer. In spite of Covid 19 we felt comfortable with all the efforts that were made to keep everyone safe. A wonderful stay was had and we look forward to visiting again soon.
The food is always a highlight at Cathedral Peak Hotel. The staff are so accommodating and the lodge is extremely clean and neat. Lovely spacious rooms. The view of the mountain peaks are breathtaking. Just love this spot and will always return.
This was a "Special " offered to the over 60's for the month of February 2021. We took full advantage of it and spent my 70th birthday weekend there. We have been hiking for many years and therefore usually stay at various Ezemvelo self catering resorts etc. It was therefore a real treat for me not to have to prepare any meals, and be able to indulge in all the appetitizing buffet meals provided. We were certainly spoilt for choice. ! Not to mention the surprise birthday cake on the Saturday night ! All Covid protocols were also strictly adhered to. Being retired folk we would certainly consider another Special Offer in the future.
Our family [three families totalling 11] had the most amazing time. So much for the children to do and see. So much to do together. So much fun. Putt-Putt; three swimming pools; wall climbing; quad bikes; super hikes with ice cold rock pools; horse riding; etc Not to mention the food - no one has to "worry" about meals and cooking.
Cathedral Peak was a winner for our 10th anniversary getaway. We are a couple in our 30s from Pretoria. We seldom get away so this was special. We left the kids with Ouma for 3 nights in the berg and instead of an over-night hike and sleeping in tents and caves as we usually do we splashed out for Cathedral Peak Hotel. We had stopped in and even stayed over once before on business so we know Cathedral Peak Hotel is a gem. We relished every minute, talking endlessly, relaxing by the pool, exploring slowly, savouring meals and tea, and enjoying the facilities. The standard room was simple but great...we enjoyed the quaint, old-school feel. We looked at the maps and hikes and enjoyed morning walks up past Ribbon Falls to stroll along the little berg and back via Mushroom, up uMlambonja to Marble Baths (bit tricky near the end) and explored the Albert and Doreen falls valley (again tricky near the end). We enjoyed early morning runs on the enjoyable 5km trail, admired the approx 100 resident Eland, and were back for lunch and reading away the afternoons Every meal is a feast, with a classic buffet of traditional Western/English fare, including roasts with Yorkshire puddings, fresh trout, stir fry, sides, veggies, salad and baked and cold tarts, cakes and ice cream. Th food is wholesome, generous, rich, prepared fresh on site, with no instant desserts or store-bought muffins. Full English/continental breakfasts with bowls of fruit and delicious fresh croissants. Plenty of decent coffee on tap.…
