Detailed Reviews
This is a very well-situated, peaceful resort. The surroundings are beautiful and the chalets are well-designed and -built. Inside everything is fairly comfortable, but lacks a few touches: curtains and table mats are old, dark epoxy cover on tiles create a gloomy atmosphere, single beds in 2nd bedroom are small and uncomfortable. Then there are things that are just unacceptable: broken freezer drawers, mesh monkey bars in windows fastened with cable ties, tiny wine glasses and diluted dishwashing liquid.
This resort could be a real gem with a few minor upgrades and special touches.

We loved the resort, although older and not as modern, it is not as crowded as others in the area, with huge gardens that were well maintained. Our unit had a lovely view on the mountain and a family of Vervet monkeys frolicking around before they disappeared into the trees for the night. The resort is a easy drive from the Drakensberg boys choir and other attractions. The only downside is that the wifi is almost non-existent so don't bargain on getting any work done if you stay for business

We have been coming to Champagne Lane for the last 24 years and still enjoy each visit. The units are spacious, well maintained and well equipped. It is a quiet relaxing resort with excellent friendly staff. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

The place is very run down and dirty. There were a number of silver fish in the beds, cupboards and even fridge. A maggot dropped down from the thatch ceiling onto the table while having dinner. The beds upstairs were dusty and we found pubic hairs on the sheets. There was a pubic hair on the roll of toilet paper in the upstairs bathroom, as well as some left over poo. Some parts of the house have not been cleaned in years. To top it off the roof leaks right on to your head in the main bedroom, and the Wifi didnt work for our entire stay. We were promised it would be fixed but no one ever showed up as promised. We wont stay here again!

The location is beautiful. However, the chalets are not well kept and clean. The amenities are just as outdated.
We had unit no 2 and when we go there, we noticed the microwave was not cleaned, found old bread in the kitchen drawer, there was spiders all over the unit and the worse experience ever was finding fish moths on our bedding. This happened even after we had asked the cleaner to make sure the bedding was dusted before putting it back on. Even the cleaner was arrogant and on her phone the entire time she was in our unit.

Lovely surroundings and could be a super place to stay with a bit of attention to detail. We go to the Drakensberg to enjoy the mountains and to have peace and quiet away from city noise disturbances. We do not come to endure duff-duff music at any time, or any other type of noise nuisance by humans after 10pm. The Manager was very rude when approached concerning the issue of noise, stated guests could make as much noise as they like until 10pm as they had the "right to enjoy themselves" and then slammed the door in my face, thereafter suggesting we leave. The Manager needs conflict resolution training and is now probably to old to handle her job. We're not impressed!

This is our 3rd visit to Champagne Lane. Love the surrounding beauty. We had rain, cold and sun during our stay. The beds on wooden deck can creak with movement but really fun for 4 kids to stay upstairs. Kitchen well equipped. Pool table, foosball in game room and putt putt available. Heated and cold pool. Needed extra R2 coins for pool table. Fire place lovely to warm up. Blankets and bedding really sufficient and warm. Towels could be updated.

What a lovely place! From the cheerful welcome at the gate to the warm assistance from Reception to the beautifully maintained gardens and abundant bird life, we couldn't have wished for more. As we were there during a quiet spell mid-week, we were kindly upgraded from the Rondavel (which looked cute and cosy) to more spacious accommodation. The unit was well furnished and comfortable and had all that we needed and more. With a magnificent view, it was a perfect place to relax and unwind.

The resort is quiet and very peaceful. Boasts a heated pool and play area for the kids. Chalets are big and spacious tho the spiders and insects were a problem. Parking facilities were close to the chalet. Bathrooms were well equipped

The resort is infested with flies as soon as you start to prepare meals and remain the entire day, no measures have been put in place to combat this. You have to pay for changing your towels, if you need a hairdryer you have to pay for one, there are no toiletries except soap and toilet paper. There is load shedding twice a day and there are no generators or gas cookers to combat this. You can hire a skottel but the office closes at 12 on Saturday and reopens on Monday morning. We had load shedding on Sunday morning at 8.30am we were forced to use the pots from the resort on the braai stand. They made us pay for the set of pots claiming they were ruined but I brought them home and they cleaned up to their original condition.Furthermore the Manageress of the resort was so rude, she said she did not care if we gave them a bad review and if we never came there again.
