Excellent experience. What a beautiful historical venue with very comfortable and beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Service was 5 start and gardens were very scenic and well kept. the breakfasts are exceptionally good and the host (Martie and husband Gert) were very accommodating and friendly.
The Hotel and Baths are poorly signposted from Caledon. Once through the main entrance, there are no signs to The Baths. Queued to pay the R175 per person entrance fee to The Baths, behind another irate family who were telling the Lady that they had no cellphone with them. Why this? It transpired that we could not just pitch up and pay, we must book online with Computicket! Nowhere on the Caledon Spa Casino website does it tell you this. There are no Notices pointing out that a Booking via Computicket is obligatory. What a PR disaster. Veronica the Hotel GM came to our rescue, but come on Tsogo Sun, this is pathetic. The hot water spring is a miracle of nature and it should be a Caledon Jewell. Shame on you Tsogo Sun.
This place need some serious attention and “ cleaning” up. Is not clean , does not feel clean, does not look clean” Cant wait to book out. Really not the look & feel when one book with them. Certainly not worth half the price. Will never see me again.
My stay at the Caledon Spa on the 19th March 21 was not very pleasant . Reception confirmed the booking without informing the guest about the changes due to Covid19. Being a regular guest at this hotel , only to find out about the changes once I booked in - No pool towels freely available ( deposit of R200 per towel - you get refunded after 2 weeks cash or debit, only credit card immediately ) , no buffet in the breakfast area , no room service available (food you need to collect ) , no menus in the room , tea and coffee get handed to you by reception when checking in . The breakfast is basic - excluded so many foods from the buffet menu . Da Vinci restaurant ( - the prices ridiculous Fish and calamari Como R165 Fish &chips R118 ( not even fresh fish but box fish they fry and serve ) - complete rip off Not all the staff at reception are friendly - The sleeper couch in the rooms that has been in the hotel for over 10 years is the worse ever for the excessive rate R2000 - per night including a tourist levy (we local travellers why charge a tourist levy ? This hotel in serious need of maintenance and service for the excessive rates they charge The gamblers or regular guests are given first preference for the Superior rooms ( X2 double beds ) So if you not on the list they allocate you a Superior /Standard room , Valley facing with a hard 10 plus year sleeper couch with a rate of 2k - not worth it RIP OFF…
A place that is neglected and poorly maintained that charges way more than it is worth. Staff do their best with what they have. Dinner at the only restaurant is very very disappointing. Breakfast was best aspect of our stay.
