#9 of 20 Speciality lodging in Rundu
The thatched-roofed Kayova River Lodge is situated directly on the Okavango River in the middle, between Rundu and Divindu and is amongst the more comfortable Lodges in Northern Namibia. It is affectionately called "shiwangundu" - the "Pearl" of the Okavango by the local people. Our building, and the surrounding, richly flowering park are an oasis for relaxing in and for experiencing Africa. The lodge and surrounding area offer many different activities: - The abundant bird life make this area a bird-lover's paradise- Extensive game viewing can be done at the various national parks, which are situated in close proximity to the lodge.- Water activities such as fishing, boating and hippo viewing are available a stones throw from the lodge itself.- Hiking and horse riding are also popular activities in the area

The tents in Kayova are lovely. Was there with work again this month and the view of the river is always breath taking. The hooting of the hippos in the night is always welcome and the smile from the workers calling you by name is always lovely. It is a home away from home whenever we come working in Nyangana Health District. Since the days of Father Denier

Way over priced for what we got, the rooms are neat, but that is it. The food is average, nothing to write home about. Very poor service because our waitress was the bartender, chef all in one! Shame on management!! Our meals took much longer than it should have... Staff is also eating in front of guests.... A lot of the items on the menu weren't available! Beautiful views but very very disappointing...

This is a lovely lodge run as a co-op to support the village. Very comfortable rooms, great views. A functioning (If small) swimming pool, and the opportunity to do some river tours, with Gabriel the angel tour guide. We found that asking the manager to arrange a meal for the four of us a great way to resolve the menu shortcomings. We spoke to the manager in the morning, talked through what we thought we’d like and had a fabulous shared meal. Possibly one of the best our entire trip,

It was probably the wrong time of the year to go to this hotel as it was two days prior to Christmas. The room is great, position of the hotel is perfect but when you told that there are no vegetables at all and you have booked for three days, that is unacceptable. Surely they could grew their own vegetables? The Manager was not around and eventually decided to leave this hotel and move elsewhere which was a shame.

We stayed here two nights on our way from Chobe to Etosha. Everything about it was fantastic and we have no complaints whatsoever. It was easy to find. The rooms, facilities and food were all perfect for us. The staff were friendly. We did the river trip at 4pm and saw about 50 hippos altogether in the river as well as numerous crocodiles and many varieties of birds. The guide was first class. We had two free drinks each on the boat. We also did a half day trip to a local village, the Mission, Hospital and Orphanage meeting many of the people involved in these places. It was just super and we would never have achieved this on our own. We had our washing (and ironing) done as well. There was free wifi. We would definitely stay here again if we were lucky enough to be back in the region. If I had a suggestion for some improvement it would be to add some outdoor chairs and tables for relaxation in addition to the outdoor dining tables.
