We had a fabulous midweek stay at Zebula 77. The property was large and spacious and had heated pool which was brilliant for our two young daughters for a winter visit. We also had a lovely relaxed meal in the main dining area. For a winter get away, can highly recommend zebula 77.

Very stylish cottage with the best amenities and fixtures. Emergency backup power was a great add-on. Location was excellent and the visit from the local wildlife connected us with the natural surroundings!!! Great place to stay

I last came to Zebula 7 years ago when it was “twinned” with the next door, same-family owned resort, Mabula. At that time the twin strategy was a great idea as Mabula had great game drives but poor dining and Zebula had lesser game drives but possessed a golf course (not great but a nice change), nice bars and a really quite good restaurant. One could freely book into the next door resort, and many guests did. There has presumably been a falling out. Mabula has improved its offering substantially (separate review). Nevertheless, we drove over to Zeb to have a looksee and the first change was to be charged to enter the estate (only £5 but still a surprise). Then we discovered: - dreadful bar area complete with excruciating karaoke (even if you like karaoke, this was dreadful); - poor food menu, mostly fast food that was very poorly prepared; - the (formerly excellent) balcony restaurant is permanently closed. Of course, COVID has damaged the hospitality sector globally and the owners may have felt the need to make changes in order to fulfil new / any available demand. However, I’m afraid that for my group the changes are exclusively awful. We didn’t go back and never will.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us. The entrance fee at the entrance is a conservation fee charged by the Homeowner Body of Zebula. Our fine dining restaurant that you remembered so fondly has been relocated to our 5-star Waterberg Lodge and still provides our guests with excellent cuisine. Our Clubhouse area now focuses on providing our golfers with the quick efficient service they expect when playing the best golf course in the Limpopo province. We do apologise that the hospitality team did not redirect you to our more sophisticated offering now available at the Waterberg Luxury Lodge. We hope that you will put this establishment to the test on a future visit.

We stayed at one of the self catering houses - which was well kitted with everything you could possibly need, including an ice making machine, especially its such an incredibly hot part of the country. The decor was also very nice & modern enough not to kill a bush experience illusion - lots of natural elements used. We loved that each house has a golf cart, which can be used to drive through the estate and see some animals grazing through out the estate. Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful!!!!

We arrived on the 17Feb check in was fine only advised the ladies at reception that no communication states that you need to pay R3000 deposit of course both of them were confused and shocked saying the invoice states that- it does not. I didn't mind paying the deposit as i know this from previous bookings. But you need to make customers aware of this before they arrive. I get to the house the fridge downstairs and upstairs is missing shelves, No dishwasher, No proper cooking utensils, gas braai is not working, sliding door damaged, pool not heating up, gaps in the thatch roof , it leaked when it rained, bats in the house at night and toilet seat in a terrible condition. I made numerous calls to reception over the weekend everyday actually- your maintenance staff are useless and says they can't do anything and can't assist us -to sort out fridges i had to make 4 calls and fight to get it done- reception nor maintenance can advise about pool, dishwasher, sidling door ,gap in the thatch roof they don't have new toilet seat. Flora the lady that cleans the house says housekeeping knows all the problems but they don't do anything. There is no sense of service all round in Zebula including the manager that came to house he asked us to see the GM on Friday afternoon -who of course was too busy to see us which we understand- but we could have got a call or something? We had dinner at the club house on Thursday night- there were about 4 tables with people when we got there but all were done eating so just us a table of 6 adults and Dirks place had people- there was just 1 waitress in the restaurant we placed orders all together food came out in drips and drabs starters came after main meals etc.. orders were prepared incorrectly we complained but of course nothing- We ordered a veg lasagna waitress came back to say they cant make it they don't have lasagna- so we requested if the chef can prepare a veg pasta with mushrooms and creamy white sauce they came back to say they don't have any pasta- we than ordered the Vegan burger which was not prepared well at all. We asked the waitress why the service is so bad and how can the chef mess up so many orders as she showed us she has written down the correct orders - she said maybe its because they busy with conference catering- We also paying customers and should also be treated with respect. We ordered 2 cakes a week in advance I dealt with Chef Max - whom was very helpful and professional in taking the order etc.. I ordered 1 carrot cake and 1 Lemon Fridge cheese cake for 11AM on Saturday the 19th I paid for the cake as well. On Saturday cakes we only ready at 14:30- 1 cake was wrong it was strawberry cheesecake and not Lemon. I sent Chef Max a message he responded and was at the house with Manager Jameson they both came to apologies for the error and delay and brought and basket of fruit and champagne we apprecite the gesture and both manager and Chef coming out however- Zebula is suppose to be of 5 star standard a simple order like a cake can not be messed up this could have been for a big birthday party than what? This was my husbands birthday! they explained a fridge cheese cake will take time to make I asked them to take the Strawberry cheese cake away as that's not what I ordered instead of refunding the R800 we had drinks at the bar for R800- we get to the bar I ordered a Nutella Calzone with sauteed banana I tell the waiter 5 times with sauteed bananas- Calzone arrives with no bananas , I than ask wheres the bananas he goes to the kitchen and bring 4 slices of banana Tsepho manager on duty is lost does not what to say or do says he wont charge for it- its not that we don't want to pay but you got the order wrong that's not what your menu says and its not what i asked for- Chef Max your chefs need and wake up call or you need new chefs- You have junior Chefs doing an internship there how is that even possible? Last weekend was an absolute waste of money at Zebula your service is Terrible staff and management really needs to step up we have been going to Zebula for many years never ever have we complained so much and had so many issues- Its actually such an embarrassment that we took guest with us to experience Zebula we won't be returning to Zebula. I will be putting this on social media as no paying customer anywhere deserves this kind of treatment and poor service. I don't even know how Marriott can associate themselves with Zebula when your standard all round is so bad your rating is definitely a bad star The Spa and staff at the spa the only ones doing something right and know what they doing. To Sarah and Lucy at reception my apologies for the continues calls my frustrating tone of voice- but sadly you ladies are the ones we need to speak to -my complaints and be annoyed and frustrated was nothing personal against you .

Shocking to see how Zebula has deteriorated in 2 years. Rooms are in dire need of upkeep - chipped tiles/holes in tiles, cracked veranda tiles. Banqueting is horrendous - the food prices are ridiculous R280 for a steak, up to R150 for a wrap, service is slow. Saw the General Manager just sitting and relaxing when clearly his staff could have done with a helping hand. Pool area run down, mini putt putt run down. I do commend those marking up the rooms which was done well each day. Overall I strongly do not recommend going to Zebula, not what it used to be.

We were staying at Zebula for the weekend with family and friends for my 50th birthday. My husband went to the restaurant at 10:30am on Saturday to book a table for 12 people at 12:00. We arrived at 12:00 to discover there was no table table ready …. There was no acknowledgement that this was not ready. We had to move tables around ourselves. The tables were dirty and we had to call staff to pls wipe them. We sat down and ordered drinks. Our waitress was great and brought drinks as we ordered. We placed our food orders. 20 min later we were told some of the dishes on the menu were not available. We placed new orders. Eventually at 13:20 we asked how long the food would take to arrive. We were told they were busy plating up. 25 min my husband asked again. He went into the kitchen to find 2 plates half prepared. Eventually we asked for a the bill and left. The staff was indifferent and unapologetic (except for our waitress). The restaurant was dirty, the rest rooms in an appalling state. I’m so disappointed. I’d been looking forward to celebrating my 50th for months. We were at Zebula in 2018 and the service was just as bad… we thought after covid we want to support them and come again but we will never ever come back. It was disgusting!

Lovely breakaway for a long weekend but it seems the attractions has deteriorated because of Covid-19. The lion & cheetah cubs have been replaced with chickens and the meerkats has been replaced with one or two spiders. Their putt-putt facilities looks horrible and seems like there is no maintenance being done. Attractions like the cheetah run is also gone but I believe this is due to covid-19 and not too attract crowds. On the positive side: The golf course looks amazing, I actually wish I booked a game of golf while here and the food is top notch at the restaurant. I do however feel the buffet is slightly overpriced at R220 per person when you can only choose stir-fry and have a limited selection of dessert. As I mentioned, great for a quick breakaway but skip if you think about going for a week.

We are glad to hear that you thought our Golf Course looks amazing. Years ago the estate did allow animal interactions but said animals have been rehabilitated to comply with SATSA rules and regulations. We are disappointed that you found our buffet overpriced, we do try and source the best ingredients and transporting it to a remote destination does add to the price, we do hope you understand.
