Before booking for accommodation at Thaba Monate game lodge, I asked if there were cleaning services and the lady agreed telephonically, I asked if there is a need to bring anything for the mosquitoes and she said there were no mosquitoes in the chalets. I was at the lodge for 3 days and nobody came to clean the chalets, it was difficult to enjoy our holiday and do the cleaning at the same time. there were mosquitos and flying insects inside the chalets. furthermore, maybe they should consider having a safe inside the chalet for guest to keep their valuable items

Nice Chalets, bit old but clean, needs a revamp. Nice for a weekend with no TV and no Radio , just relax.
The roads are in bad shape, but that was due to the rain. Lots of dust on the roads that is driveable.
Swimming pool was very dirty. No game drives, also due to the bad roads.

The chalet was neat and tidy, but it needs a total revamp. I found that the kitchen, the furniture and bathrooms old and tatty. We went on a 4x4 route throughout the resort and their animal hideaway huts were falling to pieces......it's the small things that either make or break your holiday, I do think their rates are reasonable and their camping facilities are gr8! BUT I don't think I'll visit there again!

We’ve been to Thaba Monate’s campsite many times but this last trip was the pits. Never again! Campers have no respect, playing loud music and revving their cars at night.

We come to places like this to enjoy the sounds of nature and to escape the city, but this place has gone to the dogs.

Horrible place!

This is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. Came here with my family, including my one year old. The owners have been wonderful and so accommodating, staff are friendly and helpful!
When we got here one of the lights in the big chalet wasn’t working, the owner turned up with another staff member to fix it within an hour. (Light was extremely high up!)
The price is so reasonable, the wildlife roams freely and the amenities are beautiful.

I cannot recommend this place enough!

Myself and my family went the weekend of 28/3/2013 - 31/3/13 to camp at Thaba Monate. We were there four years ago with no problems. This weekend the game logde was empty only a few people there. Since Friday Night that we were there the swimming pool was not heated. We complained at the office on Saturday Morning as the water was still ice cold. Then we were told that the boilers burst and the element but is was fixed. By Saturday night still no warm water. Then we complained again and we were told someone will come and chech. We sat there to see if someone is coming to check. No one came. We phoned the after hour number and asked to speak to the resort manager which we did but he was quite arrogant. On Sunday still no warm water and me and my family decided to go to Aventura for the day costing us a whooping R700 for the day but al least we could enjoy warm heated pools. On our arrival back at Thaba we wanted to buy ice then the shop was closed and still no heated pool. We again phoned the after hours number and my husband spoke out our disguist with the service and insisted that the resort manager come and see us at our camp site. We waited and then his wife came not even him and also made up lame excuses. I will never ever recommend anyone to go there and myself will not go there again, rather rock up more money for Aventura and know I will have a enjoyable holiday that I get what was promised on their pamplets as well as on their website!!!

The venue has very nice facilities. However, their camping sites are very small and you get irritated by neighbouring guest if they are noisy.

The chalets needs desperate upgrading. The interior is disgusting, and the bedding is very old and not clean, it smells like old sweat. I think when Thabo Monate was build 40 years ago, it was a very nice place to stay, but since then nothing was done to make it market related. If the management are not going to give attention to the small detail they will lose clients. The staff in the reception and shop could be a little more friendly and helpful. For the nature lover is it a perfect spot.

Rooms are clean and organized. But the shower door in my chalet didnt work. And the bathroom light also did not work. The atmosphere is ok, not great. There are two tiny pools and a slide Staff not extremely friendly at reception Maintenance is also not good. Asked reception to send someone to fix the light and no one came to fix it The front door is very old and hard to unlock The game drive was average... saw only a few bucks But there were a few that came up to our chalet which as very nice It was fine overall, but i would not stay there again Was too expensive for what i recieved
