I was very disappointed with the Chalet. The window was broken and closed with cardboard and tape the linen including the towels was never changed. The ceiling fan was dusty I reported it to the owner she advised re the window and said someone will come clean the fan and replace the missing items. This was not done Scenery and the animals was out of this world. Managed to see an elephant on our last night they should consider putting chairs/benches around the boma

The Patrys 270B unit was hugely disappointing. For a self catering unit, the kitchen nook falls short of practicality with no working space. There was only 2 of each necessary utensil for eating and drinking which makes it necessary to wash everything in a prep bowl size basin before each meal. The unit was not serviced on our only full day there. The toilet door does not close and due to the unit not being serviced there was no toilet paper. The ceiling fan did not work and even with a working AC unit it would have been a bonus to have a working fan on a day which measured 40 degrees celsius outside. The two single beds were a bit tired looking and also nerds an upgrade. We had a much better experience previously in the Pumba unit next door.

Beautiful environment. Maintenance needed (Shower drain needs cover, toilet sometimes wastes water. Kitchen tap needs tightening, etc. Furniture extremely uncomfortable. Unit needs updating and colour (decor). Bed was good.

As soon as we arrived at our place at Elephant Lodge the place wasn’t up to standard. There was still garbage in dustbins with no garbage bags inside them and the utensils still had food from the previous people on.
Even our own utensils that were washed still had food on it.
When we arrived the shower head was also removed and set aside so I had to put it back.

We weren’t made aware at all of the construction on the road in elephant lodge so we could not enjoy the peace and quiet and we were parked in by the big truck so we struggled to get out.

We were also very excited to visit the Kalahari Oasis pub but when we went there on Wednesday they were shooting a music video and the pub was closed which we weren’t made aware of as well.

We had two instances as well where Mabalingwe staff came speeding around blind corners nearly hitting the animals in the road that we were viewing.

Mabalingwe nature reserve itself is fine. But all the units in the Elephant Lodge are privately own, which throws up a significant variation of standards, depending on who owns your particular unit, and how it is cared for and maintained. our unit 257 (JOY) was pretty tired.....,in need of a refurb and a few coats of TLC. There are many other bush camps within the Mabalingwe resort, and I would highly recommend that if you want to book a holiday/break there, you should avoid the Elephant Lodge camp.

Room Tip: Avoid the elephant lodge camp. There is much better accommodation within the Mabalingwe resort...

Loadshedding a problem if power is off the hole day and the power gets cut at 10 at night. We left Saturday afternoon after the mtb race as there was no power and did not want to be stuck without power later that night. Unit very clean but small and dark. Boom did not work properly and didn't open when code was punched in. Restaurant service and food was very good, and well priced. We did enjoy the braai in the lapa at the unit.

The place is dirty, dust, mould and spiderwebs everywhere.Linen old, stained and full of holes.Furniture old.The place is a health risk. Also open electrical wiring that's a safety risk. We complained to Sonja about the dirt as soon as we arrived. She promised to send cleaners but they only arrived the next day,so we had to sleep in that dirty place the first night.

The room was comfortable and the bush experience was lovely. For a longer stay, I wish there could be wifi though so I could check my emails. Otherwise for the short vacay I had it was no problem getting away from it all for 2 days. The facilities were good, met my expectations from what was on their marketing (their website and on the booking website)

Our 5 night stay in this area of God's creation was a real blessing. Enough game viewing (even right at the Lodge), braais, wine, amenities etc. Our 2-person unit was very suitable for our purpose. The service from the booking agents was excellent.

Could upgrade the inside of the unit as it is poor. Bedding is old and was dirty. Had to get someone at Reception to replace the bedding. Furniture is old. The kitchen utensils and pots were dirty. Could give the unit a good clean and also the patio.
