On a trip up the Cape West Coast we decided to overnight at the Mussel Cracker BnB in Shelley Point, St Helena Bay.

This beach front venue has direct access to the beach and has all that is needed for a pleasant stay. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The venue is spotless and the breakfast on offer was outstanding.

Well worth a stop over if you are travelling through this region.

A great venue and highly recommended!

We know the area well but this was our first stay at Mussel Cracker. Karen is a delightful, caring hostess and her BnB is simply great. Rooms very nice, great breakfast - just a happy place. Thanks Karen - we will be back.

Wonderful, welcoming smart guesthouse. Not incorrect if it was referred to as a baby Boutique Hotel. Right on the beach with photographic sunrises, sunsets and the iconic SHELLEY POINT lighthouse.
Very comfortable with a great hostess and sumptuous breakfasts. A must when travelling up the Cape West Coast

It truly was an amazing experience to stay there. The rooms were very clean with high quality beds and linen. Breakfast was fresh with homemade baked goods that makes you feel at home. The view of the beach and sea was breathtaking easily making our list of most beautiful places in South Africa. Out of all of this we enjoyed the friendly hospitality the most, making the stay very relaxing. Thank you Karen and Rod we will definitely visit again.

What an amazing BnB. Situated on the beach with the most beautiful views and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean!

The accommodation is immaculate, most comfy mattresses and quality linen.

Wonderful, kind and most attentive hosts. Felt so spoilt the entire time!

Divine breakfast with delicious home baked croissants and muffins baked by Karen herself.

Thanks Karen and Audrey for an awesome stay! Was so lovely to meet and get to know you. Cannot wait to be back.

Anyone looking for accommodation on the West Cape near Paternoster with an incredible sea view is well catered for here.
The sea is only 30 metres from the terrace of the house and the view of the lagoon is fantastic.
The hosts Karen and Rod lovingly provide guests with super breakfasts, tips for excursions and restaurant reservations. We found very good restaurants in Paternoster De Seekat and Leeto, a 20-minute drive from here, partly on a sandy road.
On the ground floor there is a very large common room for everyone with total openness to the terrace and the sea. The extensive breakfast is served here and in the evenings host Rod becomes the bartender.
At the very cozy bar, Rod has a selection of over 250 different whiskey bottles and can provide extensive information. The wine cellar is also well stocked.
The house dog is a peaceful golden retriever, so watch out for those allergic to dog hair!
Final verdict: 10 out of 10 points.
