We went to hitchin for my disabled sons birthday. We were treated so badly from the lady on the desk doing the night shift. She was so rude. And to busy listening to her program on her phone.
We then asked to speak to the manager and was told in-between her watching her phone that there wasn't one available

I used to live in Hitchin 1987 to 2003 and still occasionally visit the town to meet friends or re-live old times.

This was my first overnight stay in Hitchin since those times and it is so handy that Hitchin now has a central Premier Inn hotel, which is very pleasantly located by St Marys Church in the town centre, within a minute or so walk from the main street.

The price was excellent at £55 fully flexible rate. It is quite a small hotel so is very quiet and there are no noisy late night venues in close proximity.

The hotel is well maintained with all the facilities I have come to expect, such as comfy bed and nice bathroom. The hotel has strict Covid safe procedures and I felt very well cared for here.

I'm sure to use the hotel again in the near future.

Nearest airport: Luton airport
How to get here:
1. If commuting by train, get down at Hitchin station (Thameslink) and walk south for 10 mins (follow google maps for accurate directions).
2. Taxi: We got down at Heathrow airport and had lot of luggage. So it was convenient for us to reach this place (took approx 1.5 hours to reach here).
3. Bus: Bus service is also available, one can get down at Hermitage Road stop.

We stayed here for 8 nights and I must say we had a very comfortable stay at Premier inn, Hitchin.
The rooms were clean, with all necessary equipments to keep us warm and fresh!

The breakfast was an elaborate English breakfast spread (as detailed in the menu). Timings of breakfast were extended on weekends that allowed flexibility. But we got a little bored of eating the same things every day (as we stayed here 8 days). If they could mix and match or make small day-wise changes in the menu, it would be great.
They also have a vending machine for different types of drinks that one would like to purchase (including bottled water).

They do not serve lunch, the restaurant is closed till 6 pm.

Dinner menu is good, though we had dinmer only a couple of times here. You need to clear all the bills then and there everytime you have anything from restaurant.

This hotel is located on Portmill lane, if one wants to explore Hitchin, one can easily stroll around as everything is in the close proximity. Shopping street, restaurants, church, and Hitchin market are just a few meters away.

The check-out process is very hassle free, you just have to drop the door keys at reception while leaving - no questions asked!

Overall, this is a great place for a comfortable stay.

In the midst of a pandemic the staff here were very pleasant, helpful and willing to please, despite the challenges they are facing. Even though they were under pressure when we arrived as people hadn’t left on time from the night before, placing pressure on the housekeeping service they found us a room so that we could change ready for a party we were attending so that we weren’t late. Special mention to Viviana who despite being rushed off her feet serving breakfast was apologetic and did everything with a smile on her face, a great advert for how things can be done despite everything that is thrown at you. Thank you everyone at the Premier Inn Hitchin for a lovely stay.

A fairly new hotel that is being well maintained. Staff who are friendly and welcoming. Good central location with ample parking so easy to find. The room was very comfortable and properly equipped so that nothing was lacking considering the price, there are many higher priced establishments that are inferior to Hitchin’s offer.

We use Premier Inns on a regular basis for their great deals, convenience and most importantly extremely comfy beds.
Normally it would have been 5 star rating but only 3 stars today due to nobody being on the front desk or in the vicinity when we checked out as I wanted to ask why for a double room we were only given 1 hand & bath towel and for the night receptionist giving us the wrong room number when we came in at night. I hope that the people who were in the room that we were trying unsuccessfully to get into were not disturbed too much!
Such a shame as the rooms are clean, beds comfortable and the location is extremely convenient for the town.

I stayed here for my birthday weekend & was very happy with my stay. This is the first time I’ve ever stayed in a hotel through out my 64 years. I was very nervous as my stay was solo but I was treated amazingly. A young gentleman called Lee served me breakfast with a smile, helped me out with the coffee machine & offered to plate my food. Throughout the days I stayed, Lee made conversation with me everyday & welcomed me in the restaurant with opened arms. He asked me why I was staying with them & I explained to him that it was here for a birthday getaway, as well as wishing me a happy birthday, Lee took the time to slide a birthday card under my door. This made me day & brought a tear to my eye.

I had a great time staying with the Hitchin Hotel & I’m going to stay again soon hopefully. Thank you Lee for your amazing customer service!

Ideal position to walk into town. Car park opposite is free on sundays and 4 hour limit but if paying after 6pm it will cover you from 8am until noon. Hitchin has loads of places to eat and drink and so easy to walk back to the hotel afterwards. We could have easily walked to the train station and had a day in London. Its only 30 minutes by train from Hitchin.

It's a Premier Inn on the edge of the town centre. Parking is a bore, as the nearby car park you can only stay for 4 hours. You have to go to one about 5-10 minute walk away for longer stays. The beds are comfortable, and it's quiet. Check in didn't go too well, and the rooms were far too hot, windows couldn't be opened, and felt stuffy. If you're staying for more than one night they don't clean your room unless you request it. There's a restaurant on site, but go elsewhere, as they only have 3 curries or 3 pizzas as the options! There are plenty of other places to eat nearby! Hitchin is an interesting small market town, and everything to visit is nearby.

I have stayed at many Premier Inns previously and usually find them very good, As a wheelchair user I require a wet room which I managed to obtain but this wet room, considering this hotel is newer than most I have stayed in was small in comparison, the toilet is located right near the sink with the sink slightly obstructing being able to sit how your are supposed to, if you hoist like I do then it is very tight. directly outside the bathroom door was the wardrobe which meant even trying to get into or out the bathroom in a wheelchair difficult, I had to turn to leave the room and then turn around in the little hall of room to go back the other way. we was given a room with a connecting door to another room and was kept awake all night by music coming from it and a group of people talking and laughing loudly until gone 4am. there was no phone in the room to contact reception, all other places I have stayed have phones in room so not sure if this is a new thing, and no answer when try to ring number from mobile. The check in when I booked was 2pm but 2 days before travelling got email saying 4pm now due to extra cleaning, no idea why as room was dusty and quite thick dust on carpet area around desk and tv

There weren’t any in the room but you could ask at reception. I would message Premier Inn directly to ask them before you book.

Nice cafe rouge in town, turn right out of hotel and left at m&s up to traffic lights. Opposite on right. Great pastries and breakfast items. Cafe Nero a bit further up and another cafe opposite serving rolls and food and another on corner of market square. All good for breakfast snacks. Hitchin is well served for places to eat. Day and night.
