Detailed Reviews
This public areas of this hotel are nicely appointed and the restaurant food is quite good, but our stay was sufficiently compromised that we would not stay there again. Mostly smallish things, but they added up to a net-negative.
We were a party of four, so they gave us two adjoining rooms at the back - a good idea, since there is some road noise at the front. These were small comfortable rooms but with some issues. It was warm at the time so we needed to keep the windows tilted open. By late afternoon there were lots of mosquitoes in the room so we conducted a long swatting party and had to endure quite hot rooms with closed windows. At dinner time it rained hard and we discovered that we could not reach the dining room through the hotel ( the blocked-off kitchen was in the way), so we got wet. An oddity is that the bathroom doors are transparent. A lack of privacy for some, but what annoyed us is that the bathroom light could not be turned on without illuminating the whole room and my wife wakes up if there is more than a little light. The Internet access is not free and has some drawbacks. The hotel has four or five distinct zones, though the hotel's physical area is not large. The password they gave me worked in the bar/dining room, but not in the breakfast area or our rooms. The access in those areas required different passwords which they never had time to find out and give us.
We had booked for three days, but we decided to leave after two. Although the hotel was far from full, they wanted to charge us about a half day's stay "to cover potential loss of business". I balked and they reduced the fee to 20 euros per room which we paid. Their unpleasant attitude at checkout firmed my opinion that I did not like this place and can not recommend it.

If you are looking for the Marriott or Hilton, go there. If you are looking for authentic northern Germany charm and hospitality, you will find god value here. Forgive my annoyance with previous reviews that were unrealistic. Look at the pictures and you will get an accurate idea.
The down side:
Internet was slow. Heavy floral fragrance in the room (quickly dispelled by opening the window) Slow drains in the sink and shower. Turning the light in the room off at night also turned off all my chargers. Carpets are past "Best By:" dates.
The up side:
QUIET! It's out in the country. Good parking. Lovely grounds. Quick check-in and out. Breakfast was truly a delight. Nice buffet and eggs & bacon made to order. Beautifully decorated dining room. Bed was a little softer than standard European slabs.
This place strikes me as primarily a wedding venue. If you are looking for the old world charm at a great price, this your place. We will return.

Lovely hoteappdden from the road in mature wooded gardens. Purpose built hotel extremely well appointed and maintained. A real luxury feel.. Main accm spacious with lift to first floor. Rooms facing roadside exposed to road noise which spoiled
an otherwise perfect stay. Owner was helpful and friendly. Excellent evening meal and adequate breakfast.
Terrible WiFi cutting in and out in the morning may have been Deutsche telecom rather than hotel as it was OK night before
Definitely recommend hotel and suggest ignored negative reviews as they are a couple of years old

Outdated décor, markedly unhurried service, poor quality food. Ambiance is granny style- did not, is not and will not attract younger folk. Since their cook defected- food is consistently bad. Will defo not go there again. I can cook better food at home any time.

This hotel has not had many reviews in English and those that exist are not an accurate reflection of what this hotel is like. We have just spent two days/nights in two separate rooms - one double and one twin and it has been a very happy experience.
This part of Germany is very sparsely populated and there are many residual indications of its former Soviet past. This hotel is on a main country road and is a few miles from the nearest community so it is best to expect to stay here and eat here too.
It is true that the staff appear to be on minimum manning but there is no need to rush anything and it all happens nicely as long as you are prepared to wait. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and contribute to the relaxed atmosphere of the place.
The decor is pleasant and tasteful, the big dining room is the main public feature with a nice conservatory where dinner and breakfast is also served.
The bedrooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms do get warm in the summer but by opening the en-suite window and the bedroom windows a through draught can be created. Thankfully we didn't get any insects.
Wifi is free and there are transmitters plugged in around the corridors to ensure good reception everywhere.
The food is all very good. The evening dinner menu is quite extensive and sensibly priced. As it is cooked fresh it is possible to mix-and-match salad/vegetables and the different options for potatoes. Breakfast is typically German but the waitress also cooks eggs and bacon to order.
The woods all around provide excellent walking and cycling with lots of wildlife. We saw 2 red squirrels and roe deer outside our bedroom window.
This hotel is not for people who want the night-life or action of a city - pretty obvious really but one of these reviews suggest someone wasn't thinking when booking here! But for a great escape to the country - this fits the bill at a good price.
