We stayed here because of Winstongolf which is less than 15 minutes away. We booked a standard apartment (60m2) but were upgraded to the royal apartment (120m2), however we only found out at check out. The apartments are privately owned so every interior is different. Ours was a bit outdated but comfortable. The breakfast in the restaurant was €150 for 2 days for 2 people which I consider overpriced (however there is no other option nearby). The coffee is not to drink and if you want a cappuccino you pay €3 extra. Also the juices are not fresh. When we checked out, it was my birthday and I received a €10 voucher for next spa or restaurant visit. Because of covid19, the spa sauna and pool facilities were not fully available so we did not use them.

Very quiet Long, free parking, very nice bar with excellent offer. Very good was the espresso martini.

The room in the Waldresidenz was modern and very nice. Air conditioning cooled well. Unfortunately, no fridge for my medication.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast very rich and of good quality. It was always followed up.

The menu in the restaurant did not change, so it quickly became monotonous. Prices for dishes very high. We particularly noticed the table decoration made of plastic flowers. You can't do that with that claim.

The bathroom of the room smelled of sewage.

The pool was not usable wg. Repair. That was a shame. Unfortunately, there was no compensation but only the reference to a natural pond, which was only excitable after a walk you the forest. The prospect of walking through the woods in bathrobes and slippers stopped us from visiting the pond.

Always worth a visit!
If you are mainly interested in the fantastic spa area, it is worth going during the week, taking a room in the main building, not in the castle and not an apartment (because it is across the courtyard).
The wellness area is very spacious, very clean (!) and very pleasant overall. The pool is rather large for a hotel and definitely worth a visit, especially for a trip to the pool bar for a smoothie!
The kitchen is excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. The food comes on very well-warmed plates and is very tasty, the menu is recommended and definitely worth the price!
After dinner, it is also worth a visit to the bar in the castle - there is a large selection of classics (Manhattan, Cosmopolitan and the like), but also single malt or just a beer. The keeper clearly enjoys his job and the music is not intrusive.
The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired and is constantly being replenished, so that no wish is left unfulfilled.

Definitely an excellent address for a break!

Don't get me wrong, this hotel is absolutely beautiful. Whoever designed it deserves lots of praise. It's so beautiful that you wouldn't think that someone could ruin it, but somehow they managed to find that person. The management runs the place like it's some sort of pay-by-the hour hotel, treating you like you're a potential criminal and charging you for towels. I don't think I've had to pay for a towel since my backpacking days many years ago. Even hostels have stopped charging for towels. We extended for a 3rd night (we hadn't yet had to deal with many of the staff at this point) so I requested a new set of towels for myself and my family and they wanted 20 Euros! For 4 bath towels and two hand towels! And keep in mind, their towels and incredibly thin. I can't think of a hotel or even a hostel that I've stayed at where they provided their guests with such flimsy towels. I'm sure that they buy these towels in bulk and probably cost about 1 Euro each, yet they wanted 20 Euros for me to borrow them. This after spending 600 Euros on the room, 300 Euros at their restaurant for dinner and 37 euros to use their pool. (Yes, they even charge you to use their pool).

Then on our last morning there, we decided to try their buffet breakfast, which wasn't cheap, which is fine, but every single time that I went to get a plate of food or a glass of orange juice an employee would chase me down to see if I really belonged there. I mean, do they really have a problem with Americans driving 30 km from the nearest city to the very end of a road in the middle of nowhere at 9 am to try to sneak a free breakfast?

So, I'm not saying to not stay here. I'll even stay here again the next time we're visiting our relatives (if they let me after writing this review). It is very clean and very charming. I just think that management should visit some other hotels to see how they operate. But next time I'll bring my own nice fluffy towels.

On Sunday, August 26th, we arrived with our dog. We were told that dogs were only allowed in the tower, so we booked a junior suite.

Loveless furnishings, chipped paint on cupboards and tables. There was printer's ink from newspapers on 2 of the tables.
The desk had neither a drawer nor a writing pad and pen. The WiFi provided is an open Telekom hotspot, so an insecure connection. An information folder was also missing. We looked in vain for air conditioning and a minibar, which were not available for ecological reasons, but there were water imported from Italy and 2 glasses on the desk. Is that ecological?

The surroundings are beautiful with a lake near the castle and a forest for walking. The castle grounds are also very beautiful and well-kept.

We were particularly looking forward to dinner on Sunday and Monday evenings in the Wilhelmina Helena restaurant, the food was very good beforehand, lacked a bit of sophistication but was OK.

We were lucky that the restaurant was not full on either evening. The noise level was still considerable on Sunday, a huge room with no partitions so the sound cannot be broken.

On Sunday evening we had booked a table for the following evening at 8 p.m., a table by the window with a bench because my husband is currently mobility impaired and can sit well there. It was supposed to be a special evening for us. When we arrived at 8 p.m. the table was taken, the staff had not received the information (?). Instead we were asked to give a detailed description of the waiter and give his name. Joke?

Drinks were ordered, instead of a small beer my husband got a large one. I ordered my wine with the main course and got it with the starter.

During our main course the neighboring tables were already being set up for breakfast, which was like being thrown out!

It was about 8:30 p.m. and the restaurant is open until 9:30 p.m.!

The absolute highlight, however, was ordering dessert.

Shortly before 9 p.m. we wanted to order our desserts and were told that the kitchen was already closed and there were no more desserts.
Should we order the 3rd course of our menu from Lieferando?

In the end, the waiter managed to serve us a dessert.

All of this under the motto "here you can dine on culinary masterpieces in a stylish and cozy atmosphere".

The whole evening was one disaster after another, extremely disappointed and....NOT RECOMMENDED!

The rooms were not nice, the bed was broken, a crack in the white wood was taped up with black tape. The carpet was very deep-pile and unhygienic, crumbs on the armchair, not that clean. The people working at reception were listless, the price was increased by €10 even though we had booked a cheaper room. We also had to pay for an upgrade for the room even though we had been given a simple room.
The staff in the restaurant, on the other hand, were top-notch, friendly and competent. The same goes for the spa, which is well-kept and varied.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The ambiance was extremely welcoming, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, which made my stay very pleasant.

One small criticism would be the lack of room service, which could have made the stay more convenient. It was also disappointing that we were only provided with one large bed instead of two separate beds, despite informing the hotel in advance that I was traveling with my mother. One suggestion for improvement would be to provide a minibar or at least a small fridge in the room. This addition would make the stay even more pleasant and further increase guest satisfaction.

Overall, however, it was a very positive experience, and I look forward to coming back!

A beautiful castle in a dreamlike quiet location. A little remote, but that's part of its appeal. Rooms in the castle ok, but not overwhelming. Very atmospheric bar with a very nice young bartender who really cares. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a disappointment. Limited friendliness, at best mediocre cuisine at (for) proud prices, a miserable wine list and at 9 p.m. it is mercilessly “chaired up” (felt) : you clean up noisily, the head no longer asks if you still have wishes and you get the bill faster than you can ask for it. Too bad...

I specifically booked the old part of the castle. Here you have direct tunnel access to the spa area. I was in the steam sauna, the pool and the relaxation area. Really great. You can pamper yourself here.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel complex is extensive. The castle has plenty of charm.

The sleeping comfort was good, the breakfast is MEGA (although at 28 euros it is also very expensive - I can't afford it).

A total of 116.74 euros for one night including breakfast and use of the spa is reasonable.

The ambience in the castle is very special, where you can read wonderfully during the day and be pampered in the comfortable lounge chairs until the evening.

The spa is very nicely done, not over the top.

A wonderful place to walk directly from the castle into nature or to start longer hikes.

Very friendly, young staff with a sense of humor, a joy!

Something to smile about was the same spread on bread before dinner on four evenings. A little more variety would certainly not be too much of a problem here.

And thank goodness there were other pillows than the ones in the room....
