Just had a 7day stay here and we loved it. Upon arrival the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the hotel was very tidy and clean. We stayed in room 1206 on the 12th floor and oh my goodness we had a balcony probably the size of 10 average balconies put together. We had a huge outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, outdoor dining area and 4 sun loungers to lay and enjoy the sun all day long. Stunning views of the city, beach, harbour, sunrise and sunset from our balcony. Maids came every day which was lovely. Apartment was 2bedroom and was huge, size of a good size bungalow back in England. Loads of storage space, fully equipped kitchen area and plenty of extra bedding and towels. Pool area was perfect, I really liked how you were not allowed to reserve sun beds which meant you didn't go down to the pool and they were all taken by people who were not even there. Great little pool bar, again staff were very friendly. Restaurant has plenty seating and a good variety of food, although not much to our taste so we actually ate out a lot after going in and checking what was available. Breakfast however was amazing. Good variety of drinks included, served in small/half glasses but staff happily put in bigger glass when asked. No diluted squash in restaurants, pubs or supermarket so if you like squash for kids I'd recommend packing a bottle to bring with you. Aircon in the room was a good send in this heat. You could clearly tell the staff worked very hard to ensure the hotel was kept in very good condition and guests looked after. Local beaches are spectacular, we especially preferred the one on the right hand side which had caves to explore too. If you go here sit on the sand closest to stairs and before first set of caves as the sand has less/barely any rocks and shells in the water compared to other parts of the beach so you don't hurt your feet. If you go to beach buy a donut off the people walking round with big coolers; they are devine we had chocolate ones and cream ones. Guys selling big beach throws too, I'd recommend one they were great as a blanket to sit on. Indian restaurant opposite the stairs down to beach is really good value for money and very tasty. Lots and lots of shops and bars and restaurants on the main strip (3-5min walk from hotel entrance). We soon learnt that the shops stay open till at least midnight so we enjoyed the sun during the day then went shopping on evenings. Get a Uber taxi to Aqua shopping centre (about 8mins away) there.is loads of shops and restaurants there; again open till about midnight. During the day the streets are cheerful but on an evening it's like the city comes to life, lots of people shopping, lots of extra restaurants, stalls, shops, kids rides etc open up. Night times were great to be out with all the locals. The bistro restaurant (near the Indians) served the best rib eye steak I've tasted. If you walk along the beach all the way to harbour (20-30min walk) there is lots more restaurants, water sports and excursions, we booked a dolphins and cave boat trip with 'sea dolphins' and it was great we got to see loads of dolphins (book the 9am boat). The caves are so beautiful to go and view too. Location was amazing, we really wish we stayed longer and we would 100% come back to this hotel but go self catering or half board if available.…
I wouldn't feed my dog the food it was that bad! More life in a cemetery than the hotel, just full of Portuguese people who seemed to get special treatment If you kept your key card in the room to work the air con they would come round and remove it
The rooms were spacious, good daily cleaning. The hotel furniture might look a bit outdated but we were here 11 years ago and now the hotel looks much better. Anyway - I don't expect brand new furniture everywhere :) Why to change something if it works just fine. Wifi was good (I didn't expect so fast connection speed). The pool is nice and clean. Once we had a buffet lunch for 15 EUR and it was good for the price and the food was tasty. Location is great - 2 minutes from fantastic Praia da Rocha beach, many options to choose from if you want to eat outside. Bus stop to visit other cities is ~10 minutes walking distance. Staff was nice and polite. A/C was in t he room but we didn't try since we didn't need. Don't expect 5 star hotel - it's an excellent mid-range hotel for inexpensive holidays.…
Hotel is in a great location, but for me thats the only positive feedback i can write. Breakfast is terrible. No vegetables except tomatoes from a day before. one of the worst hotel breakfasts, i have ever had. Its very noisy during the night, due to the dual carriage way next to the hotel. Everything in the room is a bit dated and very squeaky.
Stayed at the hotel for a week beginning 8 May. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was the hot food wasn't even warm on occasions. I pointed this out and was told that the law in Portugal was that 70° was the maximum temperature food could be kept at - quite often though the temperature was only 60°. Did this spoil my holiday - not at all, I loved it. About 5 mins stroll to the beach, a boardwalk all along the front if you don't like walking on sand, plenty of places to sit and watch the world go by and a good choice of restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend the hotel and am thinking of going back in September.
What a wonderful holiday. I really do wonder what kind of people are so troubled or bored that they leave such bad reviews, be assured this is a great hotel. 3 stars ++ I stayed here in April 2022 with my husband and three daughters 14-20 Yr old. We arrived at 2am on a late Ryanair flight we told the hotel in advance and they had picnic for us when we checked in, which we were really delighted with. It was so kind and unexpected. We had a great room with a HUGE sun trap balcony room 808! Fantastic! I can see that some of the hotel furniture is a little dated, our room was freshly painted and had nice decor. Would you ask to put this furniture in the bin just because it is 90’s style? So unenvironmental. The room had 2 good sized bedroom and bathroom, and a well equipped kitchen. This was the first time we stayed all inclusive and we were very cautious about it. I had emailed the hotel as we are vegetarians. The food is a really high standard, tasty super freshly prepared buffet every meal and a different vegetarian Main course every day. Lots of cakes! I really recommend the all inclusive here. With a family to feed it took all the work out of the holiday, we thought we would miss the usual nightly restaurant searching and strolling, but we did not. Much easier to stay on budget. Initially the we all put too much food on our plates, but we got used to it. Some items are limited eg cocktail choice, but I had no problem with that. The staff at the hotel are all so hard working lovely and helpful they made us feel so welcome. Everything is well maintained. The pool is a really good size, wasn’t too cold, plenty of sun loungers, the hotel was not very busy in Late April. There is a free to use pool table and the hotel is well situated near the beach. I havnt even mentioned the beautiful beach of Praia de Rocha or the cliff walks yet. Breathtaking views. Sparkling sands. We went on the pirate ship trip to the caves which was really fun experience. We also went to the big shopping centre Aqua Portimao €9 by taxi, lots of clothes shops for teenage girls there. A visit to the old town of Silves was another day trip, we took the mainline train. It was our first time on a resort in Portugal, we will definitely return for more of this super hospitality.…
Just returned from a 4 night family trip. We arrived late at night so the hotel provided us with a packed lunch each at check in. The rooms are basic but spacious and cleaned daily, with towels changed regularly. We stayed all inclusive and the restaurant always had a good choice of meals at every mealtime and was kept clean and tidy by the helpful staff. There were also snacks available from the pool bar during the day. The pool area was always clean with plenty of sun loungers available throughout the day. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. There is no evening entertainment at the hotel, however, the bar serves until 11pm and guests can use the pool table for free. Bars and restaurants are within a 10 minute walk as well as the beach.
Absolutely Dreadful. Hotel very dated and looked pre 1960 style. Rooms spacious and just about liveable despite the various electrical issues and kitchen falling apart with doors hanging off. Balcony support was loose and could move. No hot water available either. Staff are rude and have zero people skills. Complaints are passed around departments with zero resolutions. Food in dining room was cold and inedible every day. Staff told us it was down to someone switching the hot plate off every time. Avoid at every cost and find alternatives.
We were due to stay at this hotel for a week, but on arriving knew we had made a mistake. Website pictures make.this hotel look alot better than it actually is. The hotel is dated and feels more like residential flats, infact we saw people coming and going with dogs.. Some balconies had for sale signs on as if they were selling them off. Corridor and lifts looked like they hadn't been updated since the 1950's. On arriving we were shown to the restaurant were there was a brief salad bar along with 1 meat 1.fish and a pasta dish which were all cold. Evening meal was the same. Breakfast the next morning was also cold, restaurant manager offered to make fresh food for our party but even that was cold. He also insisted it was due to another member of staff switching the hotplates off therefore allowing the food to go cold. After speaking to our jet2 rep and requesting a move to another hotel, the manager spoke to our party insisting that once we had chosen our food then they could reheat it. She wasn't interested in the fact that the food was cold to start with and walked away to speak to other clients and wasn't bother about resolving the issue. The food was indescribable, infact my own pets eat better food than was on offer to us. Soft drinks were served in plastic cups amd only half pint of beer, which you had to order yourself from the bar, no waiter service here. You could purchase a full pint but this wasn't included in the all inclusive. The rooms themselves looked OK at first sight, but the wardrobes were dusty, lights were hanging loose and wiring exposed. Wire mesh placed around the balcony on the 12th floor. After speaking to our jet2 rep we were moved to a different hotel within 24hours. All I can say is if you like cold inedible food, rude staff, dated hotel then this is the hotel for you, if not then don't bother stay well clear. We will definitely never book to go there again…
Stayed at this hotel for what was supposed to be a weeks holiday however, we had to move for to various issues two days in to our stay. Hotel is very dated as are the rooms. They are spacious and liveable but avoid using the wardrobes unless you like dusty clothes. Dining area has very limited options with 1 fish and 1 meat dish accompanied with pasta and salad. Food was always cold and inedible. Staff offered to bring our party a fresh breakfast straight from the ‘kitchen’ however, upon receiving this the scrambled egg was cold and bacon too. Manager was unwilling to help or resolve the issues we had and everyone seemed to pass the blame to other departments. Rooms had various problems wrong. Cupboard doors hanging off, light fittings half attached to ceiling so had potential to fall off. Electrical cables exposed on socket. All inclusive is very limited. Soft drinks are always served in paper cup regardless of whether you are inside or out. Lagers are limited to half pints only. As you have to pay for full pints. Hotel is no where near 3 stars and is more suited to sept catering or residents wanting to buy an apartment here. Avoid this ‘hotel’ and look elsewhere.…
