We especially liked the friendliness and hospitality of accommodation staff, amazing breakfast and views over the Tuscany landscape. Villa Curina Resort is a perfect getaway to spend days relaxing or exploring around the Chianti region (Siena is only 20 minutes away).

We stayed at Villa Curina for 8 days in the first half of August and still feel the benefit of the holiday a month later. The resort is small, intimate, immaculately cared for and very friendly. Staff were welcoming and never failed to give good advice on activities in the area, including restaurants besides the good facility on site (Il Convito di Curina). We had a comfortable suite with plenty of space but this isn't really necessary because so much time is spent outdoors. The pool area is lovely and there was ample space for residents even with covid restrictions. Knowing Tuscany well, we devoted most of our stay to relaxation in the hotel, but it's also a great location for exploring both Chianti and the the hilly area south of Siena (Le Crete). Given its location and facilities, it's probably not the best place for families looking for activities for their children - but is outstanding for couple on an romantic break. We can't recommend the hotel too highly and look forward to returning.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Curina. The resort is quiet and out of the way. That's actually why I gave it a 4 star rating. It's about 20 minutes from Siena and a good distance from the significant hill towns. Also the breakfast buffet was weak, compared to the other places we stayed. But our junior suite was very spacious and they went out of their way to put an extra blanket on the bed as a mattress pad to help my back. It's a nice resort with stunning views, just too out of the way for me.

Dear dlr1953, thank you very much for your wonderful comments about our hotel and grounds. We appreciate that our efforts do not go unnoticed! We are sorry to hear that the breakfast did not meet your expectations. We would like to point out that our bread, cakes, pastries, cookies and olive oil are homemade and ham and cheese selections are typical local products. We hope to be able to have you as our guests once again in the future! With best regards

We just took a 12 day trip to Italy and we stayed in 5 different hotels. All of others were 5 star so perhaps that is why we felt some disappointment. The grounds are spectacular, the staff could not be nicer, and the restaurant was top notch. No complaints about breakfast either. The main issue was the rooms. They were full of bugs and there were several maintenance issues we had to address. They were very attentive and even offered to switch our rooms because our children’s room was so hot. We had already unpacked so we did not move but what was odd was that they could not provide is a fan to make things better. Because we had bothered them so much about the maintenance issues we felt bad mentioning the bugs but we literally found 15-20 in each room. We had a lot of luggage and it was hard to get it all up and down the stairs. The woman who worked the front desk offered to help us but it was too much and too heavy for her. The porter was not on duty so this poor girl was supposed to help us with the bags, which we could not do to her. We found the rooms we had to be tight and hot. The living room in our villa was very cool so we asked them to set up the sofa bed in there, and they couldn’t. Why? Because no housekeeping was available and the mattress was not on the bed. They did their best to make it a pleasant stay but for us, the beauty of this place, and even the service, did not make up for how uncomfortable we were here,

We thank your for your review and kind words regarding the staff, restaurant and breakfast. We apologize for the problems which you had during your stay and are sorry that our efforts to remedy them were not to your approval. Regarding the air conditioning in the rooms, unfortunately during your stay, Europe was experiencing a very hot week and our air conditioners were maxed out, causing some outages in certain rooms. At the moment, the only solution was to move rooms so that our maintenance could resolve the solution. We only have a couple of fans onsite, which were already being used in the rooms that did not have air conditioning at all. In any event, this is not an excuse and we apologize. Being a 4 star hotel, our staff is limited and not on the premises 24/7. The porter arrives at 9 in the morning, but because your departure time was before that, the only person available to help you with the bags was the woman at the front desk, who offered but was told that it was not a problem. The reason we do not keep the mattresses in the sofa beds is to preserve them (so that they do not end up lumpy and unusable by being folded into the sofa) and to keep them clean if they are needed to be used. Had we known about your desire to open the sofabed during the day (when our entire staff is here) we would have made it for you without hesitation. Regarding the insects in the room, we really wish you would have let us know of the situation during your stay so that we could have resolved it. Being in the countryside, we are definitely not immune to flying insects and others and sometimes they find their way into rooms expecially when it is very hot outside. We try our best to spray for insects outside and around the buildings and have a regular exptermination program but unfortunately, this did not help in your case. Once again, we appreciate your kind words about our staff and apologize for the problems which you had during your stay.

I have to say that we were very impressed with Villa Curina. The Villa was exceptionally kept, the room was spacious, clean and with the most amazing views you can as for. The food at the restaurant was very well prepared and the service was beyond professional and accommodating. Breakfast was well executed, balanced and plentiful. Our stay was so delightful that we plan to return to the region just to stay a couple of more days at Villa Curina.
