San Felice Wine Resort is quintessential Tuscany at its best. Nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico among vineyards and olive trees, the medieval borgo – Italian for “hamlet” - is home to a beautiful Relais & Chateaux resort, Borgo San Felice. To stay there is to be suspended in time in a stunningly beautiful, restoratively peaceful, authentically Tuscan dream. The recently updated rooms and suites boast all of the modern amenities while at the same time transmitting a traditionally Tuscan feel with elegantly subdued colors, exposed beams, and windows looking out onto the vineyards and verdant hills. The 29 rooms and 31 suites are located throughout the borgo, giving guests a chance to explore tiny medieval streets, a beautiful rose garden, a flourishing vegetable garden, and the countryside that lies beyond the hamlet’s stone walls. Not to be missed are the Borgo’s two restaurants: the gourmet Poggio Rosso, offering traditional regional dishes reinterpreted with a modern twist and elevated to new heights; and the more laid-back Osteria del Grigio. Both restaurants showcase the award-winning, internationally-renowned wines of San Felice. Borgo San Felice also has a full-service luxury spa and a spectacular pool.

I had a very pleasant stay in this elegant and charming hotel-village. There are many photogenic vistas, both of quaint buildings and picturesque scenery. Service is excellent, as is the food. My room was very comfortable and well-equipped, although the windows required the use of curtains for privacy due to the ground-floor location directly on the walkways. There are many facilities such as spa, winery, and reading lounge. Quiet location, ample secure parking. The only thing that wasn't to my liking was the modern art strategically scattered around the grounds, but that's just me and my conservative taste.

Buongiorno Dear Guest, thank you very much for your revue and for your stay with us. Your long term memory for us it's a source of pride. In this difficult time it's pure energy and pleasure to read again last year reviews and take all of them as an example and a lesson for our coming future. I really appreciate your note about the exposition of the modern art, hints and ideas for us and for our program. I wish you the best, stay safe and healthy, at the pleasure to see you again at San Felice.

Beyond breathtaking property and grounds, which are immaculately kept. Gorgeous rustic rooms restored respectfully. As a whole the staff were excellent, incredibly attentive and charming. The only critique for us was the food, in particular the poolside / lunch menu. As the hotel is set in a gorgeous remote location you cannot go anywhere else without driving / cycling and we did not want a large or formal lunch when we were eating 3 course meals+ at night. One of the waiters suggested we could request a sandwich if we wished, but were met with a horrified face from the maitre d when we asked. We appreciate the restaurant is Michelin star, but felt we were begrudgingly served a mozzarella and tomato sandwich with no frills ( no problem ) but were charged €26 each for the privilege ! We do not mind spending money at all when justified, but the food / drinks here were excessively expensive for what we received. We ate at the hotel two evenings, and went to 3 local Tuscan family run restaurants the other nights and must say the food was superior. In particular San Gusme is a beautiful hamlet to explore. Borgo San Felice is a magical experience, from the serene spa, sanctuary of the quiet pool to the rose garden. Definitely a splurge, but well worth it.

For that oh so special occasion, this is the place to stay in Tuscany. The views were sublime. The free parking was plentiful. The room was unbelievable, with the best bed we had ever slept in (!) and the most amazing bathroom with a wonderful bath with views over the Tuscan hills when sat in it with your glass of wine in hand. The staff were exceptionally attentive and welcoming. We had dinner at the hotel one night, which was very expensive, but worth every penny, as the food, the wine, the staff and the live pianist were simply outstanding. We also used the onsite spa facilities and both had a massage, which was very professional and relaxing.

We stayed at Borgo San Felice during COVID and had an amazing stay. The buildings have been sensitively renovated. The outdoor areas are well maintained (the chapel is beautiful) and the pool area is a great place to spend the day. The highlight for us was the service, which was impeccable - at check in, at Poggio Rossa, at the pool, at breakfast - the list goes on. The service was definitely better than a lot of other five star hotels we have stayed in.
The only reasons for four stars and not five stars are: 1) we would have liked a bigger gym with more equipment (clearly not an issue if you are not a gym goer); 2) the prices for some of the pool bar meals were very overpriced (we don’t mind paying for great meals like at Poggio Rossa but the pool bar just seemed bad value); 3) there was a slight smell of drains from around the bath in the bathroom.
Aside from these small points we had a great time at Borgo San Felice and hope to return there soon!

You could not fault the friendliness of the staff but somehow the whole experience was disjointed. My dinner in the grill restaurant was not delivered so I had to re order it eating after my family ate.
When we checked in we had to wait 20 minutes as there was only one person at the check in desk.
When we were shown to our rooms the porter locked us out of our room by leaving the only key on the table as she showed us the second room that had no card to work the electrical switches.
We then had to chase back to reception to get another key and an electrical card for the second bedroom.

The rooms had sensor lights that were supposed to come on when you got out of bed but both our room and my sons the lights randomly came on all through the night even if you did not move a limb!
We had the worst two nights sleep ever do hardly s nice break.

On the plus side, the property is beautiful. Both restaurants are excellent. Valentina, the concierge, was very helpful. On the negative side, the front desk manager was horrible. We experienced a significant problem with our room during the first night of our stay. The problem was not able to be rectified on the second day, so we asked to move to a different room and receive a reduction in our rate for the first night. The front desk manager displayed a terrible attitude in initially denying both of these requests. While she finally relented, this bad experience tainted our stay. In addition, the "premium" wine tasting at the Borgo was very disappointing. It was a sterile, "corporate" experience.

We came here for our honeymoon and were so disappointed by the experience. It is not 5 stars and not worth the money. You will get a much more personalized experience at smaller boutique hotels in Tuscany. In fact, we stayed at a fabulous one in San Gimignano just prior to coming here.

We booked the most expensive suite on the property as well as a honeymoon package. On the day of arrival, the front desk made no mention of our wedding/honeymoon. They forgot about our unpacking services, so we had to call down and wait for someone. The arrival "treat" that was part of our package was a warm bottle of champagne (no ice in the bucket) and crackers in plastic wrap. It would have been nice if they had at least plated it for us. The private terrace lunch that was part of our package was repackaged food from breakfast that morning in to-go containers. When we finished eating, it took half a day for someone to come clear our terrace. We had plastic to-go containers flying around on the terrace until then. We found ourselves repeating our name/suite number to the various staff at pool, restaurants and spa. No one said happy honeymoon or remembered our names, even on the 3rd day. Lastly I was put off by seeing the staff in traditional maid outfits. What is this, the 1950s?

Note that none of the things that I am complaining about actually require a ton of effort. It's the little touches that create a warm, memorable and 5 star experience. Especially when your guests are here for a big celebration and paying for the best experience.

The hotel property and grounds are very nicely maintained and quite pretty. Our suite was truly XL but was weirdly designed. There was a small TV room that was freezing cold and we never used. The furniture lacked true Tuscany character. Think high end Marriott with MDF furniture. The closets had these sensor activated lights that kept turning off as we were trying to find clothes/change etc.

We were able to get one peaceful day at the pool (which was lovely) before a large group came. As noted in the other reviews, this seems like a place for corporate retreats. The entire staff spoke English because all the guests did. Part of traveling for us is actually trying to immerse ourselves in the language and culture. We are not trying to be at another American Marriott hotel, especially for that price.

A peaceful stay in this 8th century property made up of an entire medieval hamlet including its old chapel, large pool, cellars and its vineyard surrounding it.
The restaurants, breakfast buffet and bar all great with friendly service.
the spa was a lovely treat and wondering the grounds magical.

The service at Borgo San Felice is severely lacking. Not enough people at the front desk for check in. Not nearly enough people for reservations or for customer service or for anything else. During the booking process and pre-arrival, every email I sent I needed to be sent multiple times until receiving a reply. Just terribly bad service and response time to any request, and ridiculously bad communications. I thought several times prior to arrival that the hotel had gone out of business because emails sent multiple times and repeated phone calls were never replied to. While on property nobody ever picked up the phone at the front desk. ever. and half the time we were on property the phones simply did not work. After the first day we started to walk out of our room and look for an employee instead of calling because Nobody would EVER pick up the phone. It is really shameful because it is a beautiful property with fantastic food and the spa is great, but I will never come again after our experience. We needed to do laundry, but decided not to because if there was any issue we would not have been able to reach anybody to help. This is a management problem, not an employee problem. All of the employees were unfailingly thoughtful and trying to be helpful, but there are far too few employees, and way too little management - the whole experience is just disjointed and unreliable. Somebody who in charge is doing a very poor job. Borgo San Felice needs double the number of employees, or sell only 50% of the available rooms. It is a beautiful property with a fantastic kitchen and a great spa that is just going to waste because of incompetent management and under-staffing.

First trip to Italy for my wife and I and Borgo San Felice was the perfect start. The hotel is a picturesque Italian village and winery. Gorgeous outdoor spaces. Luxurious room. Roughly 60 rooms so it is quiet but still active. The staff were all remarkably friendly and accommodating. Our breakfast was included and was a fantastic spread. The restaurants were both terrific but might also suggest a night at a local restaurant - Osteria alla Villa. It is in a nearby village (<10 minutes) and the hotel took us in a free shuttle. Had a fantastic meal there with mostly locals. We were waited on by the owner whose wife prepares the meals. Also highly recommend a day of e-biking to local wineries. We went to Castello di Brolio (and toured the 1100 AD castle), Felsina and Castello di Bosso. Warning: we had ideas that we are in good shape and did the first one on regular bikes. It is super hilly. If you are not a serious cyclist take the e-bikes ($35 for half day, $70 for full day). Overall, cannot recommend more highly. Thanks to all at Borgo San Felice for such a great stay!

I think you should call the concierge and discuss your needs. They are very knowledgeable. You can hire a driver to take you around to see the sites and it can be arranged that through the concierge. I'm sure they can call a taxi to the hotel which would be less money too. We took a taxi from Siena to the hotel and it was about $35euro one way. There are some minor (but cool) sites nearby that would be difficult to access without a driver or a car, so it depends on your goals.
