Badia di Campoleone is an hotel near Arezzo, managed by Italianway, providing charming accommodation in historic rooms. Centuries of experience handed down by the Marquises della Stufa and the Albergotti and Persichetti families is recorded in the frescoes in the halls and the imposing apses of the internal church, architectural features of the ancient Benedictine abbey from the year 1000 AD. The sixteenth-century villa that rises above the stables now houses an exquisite hotel near Arezzo with 34 rooms of various categories. The nineteenth-century mill building also contains 3 captivating rooms. The scents of thyme and lavender of the Tuscan countryside, the chorus of morning birdsong and the lively hum of the evening cicadas stimulate and restore physical and mental well being. The colors of nature penetrate into each room, while peace and serenity set the right tone for a holiday in this period residence in the heart of Tuscany.

We stayed here in June 2012. The hotel has comfortable, spacious and beautiful decorated rooms, a lovely garden with a beautiful pool area! The meals in the restaurant were absolutely fantastic!
The town of Arezzo is only 10 minutes drive away and a great place to visit! Lots of restaurants and nice cafés.

Mr. Massimo Celegato, the general manager and his team were all very friendly and helpful in order to make our visit truly memorable! They definitely succeed!

We would recommend this hotel to everyone.

My husband and I flew out from Ireland to get married here in August 2011. We had an absolutely amazing time. The wedding was a three day event, with a BBQ on the first night, wedding the second night and a trip to Siena on the third. The hotel itself was beautiful and the food was fantastic. The staff were so friendly especially Martina and Matteo. All of our guests (75) commented on how beautiful the hotel and location was; everyone was really impressed with the rooms which were all so unique in their own way. The bridal suite was out of this world with paintings from wall to ceiling. When we first looked at this hotel, we did not realise there was a little town at the bottom of the drive which was an added bonus as guests could take a walk to the shop to pick up essentials for the self-catering apartments (which were really pretty). The pool at the hotel was the highlight for us, an amazing tranquil spot to sit back and relax with a drink. On the day of the wedding, we could not have asked for more, just in terms of service, food, and the overall willingness of the staff to ensure that everything was perfect.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to any couples planning to get wed in Italy, who are looking for a unique idyllic location in the Tuscan hills.

Excellent grounds including courts, pool, greenery and country views. Very quiet and relaxing location. Rooms were very clean. The hotel website features an excellent photo gallery true to life. Highly recommended.

This could be a wonderful hotel, but it is let down by a lack of staff and mediocre food.
The setting is very impressive and tranquil. We stayed in an apartment, 2 minutes walk from the main building. The rooms were large, pleasant and spotlessly clean. The "kitchenette" is in a cupboard and comprised a 2 ring hob, fridge, sink and some very basic crockery and cooking utensils ( No kettle, no knifes other than for eating and no cups other than expresso cups) It wan't adequate to enable you to self cater, which was a pity because the hotel food was fairly pricey and mediocre. Although the hotel has 3 restauraunts only 1 was open both nights we ate there, even though for part of our stay the hotel was busy. There was a 15 euro surcharge for room service.
The room had absolutley no information about the hotel or the surrounding area.
The walls between the adjoing apartment were very thin. We could hear every sound from the bathroom next door!
The staff were pleasant but rarely seen. Reception was occasionally unstaffed or staffed by someone who wasn't a receptionist and couldn't help. The restaurant was entirely devoid of staff when we turned up for dinner, to the point that we had to go to reception and get them to get the waiter out of the kitchen to serve us.
The pool area is lovely but be warned that the pool is unheated and during our weeks stay the bar area adjacent to the pool was never staffed.
Our daughter enjoyed the small childrens play are but some plastic cups that were lying around the day we arrived were still there when we left. There was also debris on the football pitch/tennis court. The hotel itself was very clean.
On checking out we were given a bill that included an 85 euro "final cleaning charge" When I pointed out that I was unwilling to pay it as it had not been mentioned when we booked it was removed without fuss.
The whole place had an out of season feel even though it was mid September and the hotel was full for at least part of our stay. At 250 euros per night for B&B it simply wasn't value for money.

It is with sadness that I have to report the significant reduction of in standards. This was a place dear to our heart, having stayed 5 times including our 4- day wedding weekend. The service has gone down dramatically with the new management and entirely new staff save for the amazing chef. They now seem to open their doors to cheap charter holiday and the quality has gone down commensurately. The rooms need renovation including the furniture around the pool which are in places a real safety hazards. Gone the luxury service. This is now a wannabe luxurious hotel but without any understanding of what it means. Gone the peace and quietness by the pool... Instead there is a cheap club med feeling with screaming unbehaved kids. And they have no clue how to treat loyal customers who spent considerable amount of money there. Heart breaking as it ruined our anniversary weekend. I guess the owner has chosen to cater for a 3 star hotel, if any...

I spent a period of convalescence in this place after a minor operation; I needed peace and cleanliness. The setting is very beautiful and peaceful, with a superb park. The restaurant is excellent, even if sometimes a little slow. The personnel are very polite and friendly. The best place I could choose.

We were there for two nights, really beautiful grounds and building, huge well appointed room, and good sized bathroom with good toiletries even though some thorough cleaning is in order, a bit dusty and cobwebs all around the room aren't the nicest of sight!

Wifi worked only outside the room, a bit frustrating!

The place is run like a three star though, restaurant not to par for quality and clientele, kids roaming wildly at dinner really spoiled the evening, food nothing more than edible. Breakfast ok.

All in all a good address but far from Arezzo, you have about a fifteen minutes drive to get there from the center, through warehouses and manufacturing facilities, not the best of Tuscan panorama.

Once you get at the foot of the hill though (the villa is on top of a small hill which you cannot guess looking at the website) and start driving up the path sided by beautiful trees it turns into a magic sight!

We got married in this incredible hotel! The location is just amazing, a jewel in the middle of the green! The hotel is renovated in 2005 but they have kept it in such great state that it looks like it is just renovated! The rooms are amazing ( especially the wedding suite :-)) .. All rooms are in general very big! Great airco system.. not too loud and not too cold!

The swimming pool area is also very good.. so much space, a bar,.. within 5 min you are relaxed.. AND with wifi connection.

The staff is very friendly and speak English very well! They have been really attentive to us.. ( Martina, Alberto, Carolina, Mario and all the others!)

The food is also amazing! They are very organised and can handle a group of 80 people like they do it every day.. Food is of very high quality! Especially the bistecca alla fiorentina melts in your mouth. Also ask advice at the sommelier Alberto for some hidden jewels like Querciabella.

They gave us the most beautiful wedding you can imagine.. it was really a fairy tale.. our guests were soo happy of the rooms, food everything.. Really a place to recommend!!

Also to be menioned: they upgraded their wifi system! you have wifi in almost every room and also at the pool!

One word: a dream where you can forget all your worries...

We booked 3 nights as a family with 2 kids age 8.
The room was good overlooking the enclosed garden, having a seperate loft for the parents ,all open layout so the kids were happy.
We had one time dinner which was disappointing,so we decided to have dinner outside.
When you have kids go to il Refugio top of the mountain great Arrezzo vieuws but ONLY order pizza these are great.
Breakfast was good but they charged for eggs!
The place was nice but a bit too business like for a family.
The location to Arezzo is great just a short drive.

We stayed here the 21st June 2012 after a long hot motorcycle ride on our new BMW R1200 RT
from Merano in the foothill of the Alps. Wanting to steal away from the more visited parts of 'Chiantishire' we found with a little difficulty (the signage needs higher profile) this truly exceptionally welcoming hotel. The staff were truly helpful from Luisa the receptionist to Dr Massimo Celegato the Director & they were only to happy to show us all the facilities in order to make our short stay truly memorable, which they achieved with great finesse. We rediscovered the Tuscan cuisine and fine wines at the restaurant at affordable prices. This private villa has been lovingly restored and furnished and no two rooms have the same decor.
